  • This study aims to develop well-being enhancement program for the female elderly living alone, and examine its effects. The program was structured by exploring the meaning of life and happiness with focused on self-disclosure, dealing with regret and resentment, forgiveness, gratitude, and resilience. At first, pilot program was applied to 6 female elderly living alone for predicting the effects and modified the program. For verification of the program effect, 11 female elderly living alone were assigned to developed well-being enhancement program, also 11 female elderly living alone were assigned to comparison group who participate in activity-focused program, and 12 female elderly living alone were assigned to control group. Results indicated that regret for interpersonal relations and resentment of the female elderly living alone who participate in well-being enhancement program were reduced after participating the program, while their self-disclosure increased. The female elderly living alone who participate in well-being enhancement program showed lowered level of anxiety, loneliness, and awareness of aging, which were factors of well-bing in senescence. Moreover, their level of negative emotion was decreased, and life satisfaction, positive emotion, and happiness were increased after participating the program. But, all of those enhancement were not found in control group as well as comparison group. These results suggest that well-being enhancement program for the female elderly living alone developed in this study could be utilized in various settings.

  • Purpose: This study determined the relationships between maternal comprehensive feeding practices (CFP) and dietary practices of preschool children. Methods: Participants of the study were 227 mothers of children aged 3 to 5 years attending daycare centers and kindergartens in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province of Korea. The Comprehensive Feeding Practices Questionnaire was used to assess the maternal feeding practices. The Nutrition Quotient for Preschoolers (NQ-P) was measured to evaluate dietary practice and diet quality of children. Results: The balance of NQ-P for children was positively correlated with the modeling, restrictions for weight control, encouragement of balance and variety, pressure, and involvement among maternal CFP. Moderation of NQ-P was positively correlated with monitoring, modeling, teaching about nutrition, encouragement of balance and variety, environment, and involvement among maternal CFP. However, it was negatively correlated with emotion regulation, food as a reward, and child control in maternal CFP. Among maternal CFP, the environment of NQ-P was positively correlated with monitoring, modeling, teaching about nutrition, encouragement of balance and variety, environment, and involvement, and it was negatively correlated with emotion regulation. As a multiple regression analysis, maternal CFP that positively predicted balance of NQ-P indices were restricted for weight control, pressure, and involvement. Among maternal CFP, encouragement of balance and variety, and environment were positive predictors, while food as a reward, and child control were negative predictors for the moderation of NQ-P. Items of maternal CFP positively predicting environmental factors of NQ-P were monitoring and environment. Conclusion: Mothers are recommended to practice dietary guidance to their children, such as monitoring, modeling, teaching about nutritional information, recommendation of balance and diversity, healthy eating environment, and participation in meal plan and preparation, while they are advised not to conduct any adverse dietary guidance such as emotional control, compensation with food, child control, and food coercion.

  • This study discusses the concepts of landscape structure, landscape indices, interrelationships between indices, prediction of change in forest Landscape and forest management as a scenic resource, and other relevant problems. To illustrate the methods of national landscape interpretation, a case study was carried out for Ashinoko bridge in Fujihakoneizu National Park, Japan. Although the exact form of computer-generated landscape planning may vary, depending on the type of computers and users involved, users of these computer systems should be aware of problems that may be encountered when assessing the quality of computer perspectives without the aid of a detailed field survey. Nevertheless, it is expected that computer systems for analysis and management of forest landscape will become effective and economic tools to promote human health and provide more recreational opportunities in forest and national park planning.

  • This study purposed to evaluate a youth reading promotion program that is designed and operated by the National Library for Children & Young Adults. The study specifically assessed the '1318 Bookworm Program' by conducting an in-depth survey and a focus group interview for school librarians who had participated in the program between 2007 and 2010. According to the study findings, the program participants were highly satisfied with the program outcomes. The librarians believed that the program brought positive effects on the cognitive, emotional, and social developments of the participated teens. Among the 1318 program operation process, namely designing, planning, and implementation, both planning and implementation processes were the determining factors for the outcome satisfaction. Finally, study participants expressed the needs for increasing the number of the certified professional school librarians active in the field, expanded organization structure, and further research on youth reading promotion programs in order to facilitate the program support and to enhance its efficiency. They also suggested diversified program contents development and the dissemination of manuals for youth reading promotion programs.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the difference of psychometric analysis among patients with Post-traumatic organic mental disorder according to the lesion of MRI finding of traumatic brain injury. Methods : We divided 35 patients into 4 groups according to the lesion of MRI finding of brain injury. We evaluated the difference of the subscales of MMPI and K-WAIS among 4 groups with Post-traumatic organic mental disorder by ANOVA. Results : We found no significant difference of all subscales of MMPI and K -WAIS among 4 groups by ANOVA. Compared Rt hemispheric injury group with Lt hemispheric injury group by independent t-test, the depression scale in MMPI scored significantly higher in Lt hemispheric injury group, and the block design in K-WAIS scored significantly lower in Rt hemispheric injury group. Conclusion : This study suggests that Lt hemispheric injury be significantly related to depression, and Rt hemispheric injury be significantly related to visuospatial ability.

  • This study is to examine loyalty building model which reflected differentiated traits of professional service to establish strong loyalty for gaining competitive edge. Professional service is where consumer can not easily predict the result of service as well as other common traits. It also has trait that is difficult to evaluate service satisfaction and quality even after using the service because knowledge imbalance between service provider and user is great. Therefore, in professional service, satisfaction and emotion that consumer perceives in the service use process will play critical role in loyalty formation. As a result, the model of this study divided dimension into responsiveness satisfaction which is satisfaction dimension of professional service use process, interaction satisfaction, technical satisfaction and structurally examined the relationship between emotional commitment and cognitive commitment and the relationship between dimension of commitment and loyalty. The analysis result show that dimension of satisfaction which perceived in professional service use process increases both emotional commitment and cognitive commitment and these commitments effect to loyalty formation.

  • It is important subject of research in engineering and natural science field that creating continuing high-definition image from very large volume data. The necessity of software that helps analyze useful information in data has improved by effectively showing visual image information of high resolution data with visualization technique. In this paper, we designed multi-platform visualization system based on client-server to analyze and express earth environment data effectively constructed with observation and prediction. The visualization server comprised of cluster transfers data to clients through parallel/distributed computing, and the client is developed to be operated in various platform and visualize data. In addition, we aim user-friendly program through multi-touch, sensor and have made realistic simulation image with image-based lighting technique.

  • We spend about one-third of our life sleeping. Although the influence of sleep on various cognitive and affective functioning is recognized, relatively less is known about its consequences on interpersonal relationships. The present study examines whether sleep contributes to adolescent's peer intimacy; specifically, given the role of sleep in memory consolidation, it was assumed that a good sleep will enhance social relationships by positively refurbishing memories of social episodes. As predicted, young teenagers' sleep quality predicted increased peer intimacy, partly through the positive memory of social events, in a sample of middle school (Study 1) as well as high school participants (Study 2). To investigate the causal link, in Study 2, memory recollections were repeatedly measured for a week. Sleep quality during the week predicted how social, but not non-social episodes were positively remembered. The function and importance of sleep quality are discussed in the context of interpersonal relationships.
