  • This research is for selection of animal and establishment of guideline which for animal robot design for the purpose of emotionally disturbed children's psychotherapy. In the case of emotionally disturbed children because of poor expression about themselves's emotional condition, there are many restriction in the existing cure and educational method. Using research method of animal shape robot which is starting to make attempt since the late 1990s is effective to learning disturbed children. For the development of animal robot for psychotherapy of emotionally disturbed children first of all which animal is selected is very important. Therefore at the early stage of research preference surveyed to children including emotionally disturbed children and decide an object of animal robot. And what kind of shape is very preferred is also preference surveyed. Through focusing group interview about shape, color, facial expression, sound, and move which have an influence on outward shape design of robot, present the guideline which is needed to animal robot design for emotionally disturbed children.

  • This study analyzed 'how the elderly's sexual relations and marital intimacy affect the elderly's life satisfaction'. Interviews and visits were conducted for 11 days targeting 309 elderly people aged 65 years or older. As a result of the analysis, 51% were male, 49% were female, and 84.7% were in their 60s and 70s. Approximately 60.1% of them were religious, of which 24.7% were protestants. In the region, 42.9% lived in rural and fishing villages. The percentage of those who answered that their health status was above average was 87.6%. Regarding the frequency of sexual life, 41.4% of the respondents said they had sex once or twice a month. Males had a higher frequency of sexual life than females. A lower age, higher education, living in small and medium-sized cities, better health status, and higher income level were associated with a higher frequency of sexual life. The factors that showed a significant difference in sex life satisfaction were gender, region, and health status. Those with religion as Protestantism, residing in a small or medium-sized city or over, with better health and higher income levels were found to have higher life satisfaction. The satisfaction with sex life had a positive correlation with emotional intimacy (p<.01) and life satisfaction (p<.01). Based on the above results, the sexual life satisfaction of the elderly has a positive effect on life satisfaction, and emotional intimacy between spouses had a positive influence on life satisfaction.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between perceived health status, future time perspective(FTP), health promoting behaviors, and quality of life in the elderly. To this end, the survey was conducted through distributing questionnaires to the elderly people who lived in areas of Seoul or its adjacent satellite cities in their age of 60 or more in 2013. In total, 497 valid responses were collected. The data was analyzed by using a number of analysis methods including confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, frequency analysis, correlation analysis, simple regression analysis, multiple regression analysis, SEM analysis. The findings are as follows. First, health status of the elderly has a significant influence on FTP. Second, health status the elderly has a significant influence on health promoting behavior. Among sub-factors of health status, subjective health status has a significant influence on spiritual growth, nutrition, physical activity, stress and interpersonal relation. Third, health status of the elderly has a significant influence on quality of life. Among sub-factors of health status, subjective health status has a significant influence on physical, social, emotional and economic quality of life. Fifth, FTP of the elderly has a significant influence on quality of life. FTP has a significant influence on physical, social, emotional economic quality of life among the elderly. Sixth, health promoting behavior among the elderly has a significant influence on quality of life. Among sub-factors of health promoting behavior, spiritual growth has a significant influence on physical, social, emotional and economic quality of life. Nutrition has a significant influence on social factor. Health responsibility has a significant influence on emotional quality of life. Physical activity has a significant influence on physical quality of life. Stress has a significant influence on physical, social and economic quality of life. Finally, interpersonal relation has a significant influence on physical and social quality of life.

  • This study examined the type and extent of interruption between induced emotion and succeeding arithmetic operation. The experiment was carried out to determine the influence of the induced emotions (anger, joy, and sorrow) and stimulus types (picture and sentence) on the cognitive process load that may block the interactions among the constituents of working memory. The study subjects were 32 undergraduates who were similar with respect to age and education parameters and were especially instructed to attend to induced emotion by imitation of facial expression and to make a correct decision during the remainder calculation task. In the results, the stimulus types did not exhibit any difference but there was a significant difference among the induced emotion types. The difference was observed in slower response time at positive emotion(joy condition) as compared with other emotions(anger and sorrow). More specifically, error and delayed correct response rate for emotion types were analysed to determine which phase the slower response was associated with. Delayed responses of the joy condition by sentence-inducing stimulus were identified with the error rate difference, and those by picture-inducing stimulus with the delayed correct response rate. These findings not only suggest that induced positive emotion increased response time compared to negative emotions, but also imply that picture-inducing stimulus easily affords arithmetic fluctuation whereas sentence-inducing stimulus results in arithmetic failure.

  • This study explored the essence of psychological burnout experiences due to emotional contagion using a hermeneutic phenomenological approach. In-depth interviews were conducted on 9 participants who work in fields that are subject to emotional contagion. Data analysis was conducted by using van Manen's methodology, insisting that the pure description of an experience can be enriched by adding interpretation. The emotional contagion experiences were identified through this process and the findings were categorized into 3 core themes, 8 essential themes, and 35 subthemes. The first core theme is "emotions in constant exchange". This theme included two essential themes: 'various channels of emotional contagion' and 'subjective states that change depending on the transmitted emotions'. The second core theme, "filtering the experience of emotional contagion" included the essential themes of 'the characteristics susceptible to the emotions of others', 'attitudes of spreading negative emotions' and 'situations that makes one feel overwhelmed by emotions'. The final core theme, "from burnout by emotional contagion to communication" was categorized into the following essential themes: 'burnout-inducing entangled interactions', 'moving toward communication and connection' and 'recovery after psychological burnout'. Finally, the implications and suggestions for future research were discussed by summarizing the core contents of each themes.

  • This study was to examine the effectiveness of neurofeedback training by observing the pre and post brainwave measurement results of about 39(experimental group 25, comparative group 14) student who have shown emotional. The study was examined at S city M dong A hearing impairments student, from Mar. 2009 and to Feb. 2010. The training took place two times a week, for about 40 minutes per session. The tool used to meas ure the psychological reaction was POMS (Profile of Mood State). First, the result confirmed the differences of both attention quotient(L R) and resistance stress quotient(L R). Second,, the results of the analysis show mood state. Therefore, the result of the study shows that there is possibility that NeuroFeedback technique might be positively affecting emotional of the hearing impairments student.

  • It is known that as many as 1 in 91 children are diagnosed with an autistic spectrum disorder, and the incidence rate of the autistic spectrum disorder is much higher than that of cancer in Korea. It is necessary to develop a novel technology to sense their emotional status and give proper psychological diagnosis and therapy, since the children with autistic spectrum disorder usually do not express their own emotional status. This article presents the state-of-the-arts on the affective computing technologies that include recognition of emotional status through bio-sensing and virtual affective agent modeling, and then proposes a novel system architecture for diagnosis and therapy of autistic spectrum disorder. The diagnosis and therapy system of autistic spectrum disorder is composed of bio-sensing module, virtual environment module with affective agents, and haptic interface module. The architecture proposed in this paper will enhance the objectivity to diagnose autism spectrum disorders, and enable continuous treatment in daily life.
