A Comparative Analysis on University Accreditation Standards of Korea and USA in the View Point of Information Literacy (정보활용능력의 관점에서 본 한국과 미국의 대학평가인증기준 비교.분석)

  • In recent years, universities as higher education institutions have counted upon social accountability that assure their educational performance and quality. University assessment accreditation are being used internationally as a means to ensure the accountability. Current trends in American accreditation standards emphasize student learning outcomes such as problem solving, critical analysis, creativity instead of inputs such as physical and human resources. Also, American accreditation standards underscore the importance of information literacy as a learning outcomes. The purpose of this study is to compare and to analysis accreditation standards of Korea and American in the view point of library and information literacy. This study suggest basic directions how to apply these information literacy in accreditation standards of Korea. The accreditation standards of Korea need to reflect information literacy in terms of to enhance learning outcomes. In particular, this accreditation standards has to include collaboration between librarian and faculty within standard for accreditation.

  • The goal of cyber teaching is to reduce the cost of private lessons, dissipate the educational disparity amongst regions, make classes apt to the given level of every group of students, make up for systematic defects of the public education, and ultimately strengthen its role. This study intends to analyze the capabilities of cyber teachers and clarify their qualifications, as the whole new e-Learning system is about to take root. In this study, the activities of cyber teachers are analyzed and some standards of applicability of cyber teachers, or the so-called ISSCT, are presented. Firstly, the activities are divided into teaching, counselling, process management, development of professionality. Based upon these four activities, nine tasks have been formed and the structure of 22 sub-tasks has been completed. This is the way the standards of applicability of cyber teachers are established in consideration with their activities. Secondly, the standards of information capability of cyber teachers have 53 elements in total, and the aforementioned ISSCT are presented in relation to the ISST, based upon the standards of information capability of cyber teachers.

  • This study is aimed to evaluate the undergraduate students' information literacy, examine the current level of their capability of using information, and make a evaluation model to develop information literacy. Information literacy consists of six fields information resources, information needs, information search, information analysis, information technology and presentation, and Information ethics. Based on the result of statistic factor analysis, the integrated evaluation model of information literacy, evaluation factor, and evaluation procedure can be suggested based on the instruction guidance.

  • 대학에서 실행되고 있는 정보활용능력 교육에 따른 학습자의 정보활용능력에 대한 자가인식의 변화는 학습자의 특성에 따라 차이가 나타날 수 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 정보활용능력 교육의 효과에 영향에 미치는 학습자의 영향 요인을 조사 분석하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 목적을 위해, D 대학의 한 학기 교양과목으로 개설되고 있는 정보활용능력 교육 프로그램을 대상으로 해당과목 수강생 47명의 정보활용능력에 대한 자가 인식을 교육전과 교육후의 질문지법을 통해 그 변화를 조사 분석하고 이들 학습자의 개인적인 특성을 파악하였다. 학습자의 특성에는 인구통계학적인 특성 이외에 유사 교육 프로그램 경험 유무, 도서관에 대한 인식 등이 조사되었다. 정보활용능력에 대한 자가 인식을 측정하기 위한 문항들은 ACRL의 고등 교육자를 위한 정보활용능력 평가기준을 참조하였고 사용된 분석도구는 Excel과 SPSS 17.0이다.

  • In the process of presenting the additional criteria, ISST, developed to evaluate teachers' capacity of applying information, suggests the criteria without considering teacher's own task. Information Ethics and Security Model is made up of two parts. In one part, it deals with four areas concerning with Information Ethics evaluation to measure the sensibility of Information Ethics of Information Teacher In another part, it is divided Information Security Evaluation into three areas which estimate technical method to secure the information system tying in the environment of information-oriented education.

  • This study investigated whether information literacy education contributes to change and improvement in university students' self awareness of information literacy and libraries. The pre-test and the post-test which comprised the same questions on information literacy and libraries were executed on 47 students in an information literacy-related regular course at D University. The information literacy-related questions in the questionnaire were based on ACRL Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education. The collected data were analyzed using Excel and SPSS.

  • The needs for independent 'lifelong learning' is on the rise for the individuals living in today's fast-paced society. As a result, the significance of 'information literacy' as the core requirement for lifelong learning has become widely recognized. Some countries have even established standards for information literacy at the national level, and introduced programs to improve the overall level of information literacy in the school curriculum. In Korea, various studies have been done to identify the importance of information literacy, and also there are increasing offerings of information literacy programs in regular curriculum. Based on the result of self-efficiency assessment by the students who attended the information literacy courses, this study tries to examine the effects of those programs. It consequently confirms that these curriculums resulted in improvement of the information literacy of the students, and also provide some suggestions and guidelines for the design of the curriculum for information based on the findings.

  • 현재 웹(Web)상에서 운용되고 있는 검색엔진의 활용실태에 관한 체게적 검토를통해 각 엔진에 대한 가능을 비교·분석함으로써 각각의 특징과 효율성을 평가해보고자하였다. 효율적인 검색을 위해서는 각 검색엔진의 특성을 파악하여야 하며 얻고자 하는 정보의 특성(정보분류, 사용분야, 정보 형태 등)에 의해서도 검색엔진의 선별이 필요하다. 검색엔진들은 자신만의 독특한 검색방법을 지니고 있으며 사용자 인터페이스, 질의(Query)의 형태와 검색결과에 차이를 보일 수있다. 그러나 이들 검색엔진의 효율성을 비교하기 위한 기준은 아직까지 정립되지 않았으며 학문적으로 검증된 명확한 기준이 없다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 검색엔진의 효율성 비교를 위해 현재 인터넷상에서 통용되고 있는 검색능력평가에 관한 보고서들에서 평가기준으로 삼고있는 기준들을 수집, 분석한후 가장 타당한 것으로 평가기준들을 선정, 체계화하는 작업을 선행하였다. 그리고 각 검색엔진의 검색효율성을 평가하여 그 결과를 분석함으로써 최적의 검색엔진 선택과 정확한 정보의 검색 및 활용에 일조하고자하였다.

Degrees of Understanding Regarding Information Literacy in Korean University Students (우리나라 대학생들의 정보활용능력 인식도에 관한 연구)

  • This is a survey study to measure degrees of understanding regarding Information literacy in Korean university students based on ACRL standards. In the results of the survey there were no meaningful differences between individuals age, gender, major, and University. There were also no meaningful difference between the five ACRL standards. However, there were meaningful differences between the performance indicators in each standard. For example in the first standard, the performance indicator 'Determines the nature and extent of the information needed', had the highest score. had the lowest score. In the second ‘Effective Access of Information', had the highest score. In the third ‘Evaluate and Incorporate Information', had the highest score>and had the lowest score. In the fourth ‘Use of Information', , had the highest score. In the last ‘Information Ethics', there was no meaningful difference. This study also showed outcomes regarding the details in each standard.

  • 본고에서는 교육내용 성취기준 링크드데이터 프로파일 설계 및 활용에 대해 소개한다. 성취기준은 학생들이 학습의 결과로 반드시 알아야 할 지식, 능력 및 태도를 구체적으로 명시한 것으로서 국가 교육과정의 중요한 요소로 인식되고 있다. 따라서 교수학습지원시스템은 성취기준 링크드데이터 프로파일을 기반으로 교육과정, 수럽계획, 학습자원, 평가 등을 연계할 수 있도록 구현되어야 한다.
