A Study on the Revitalization of Modern Literature Service Based on User Awareness Survey (이용자 인식조사를 기반으로 한 근대문학자료 서비스 활성화 방안 연구)

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the current usage and Satisfaction Levels of modern literature services provided by the National Library of Korea, and explore the strategies to promote the use of the modern literature service. The result show that the usage rate of users for the modern literature service is very low, and the Satisfaction Level of the experienced users are found to be normal. Therefore, in order to increase the utilization rate and the Satisfaction Level, first, it is required for active promotion of current modern literature services. Second, the public relations of exhibitions and viewing information are provided direct access to users of the modern literary materials, so various types of exhibitions and events are necessary. Third, although respondents said that library homepage, portal site, and SNS are effective public relations methods, in the case of less-educated and seniors, they prefer public relations through offline media. Therefore, deeper theoretical considerations are necessary in order to select affordable public relations media.

A Study on the User Needs Analysis to Improve OASIS (전통의학 정보포털 활성화를 위한 사용자 요구 분석에 관한 연구)

  • Traditional Korean Medicine Information Portal OASIS has been upgraded continuously from the beginning of it's service. It builds up more contents and adds more functions to provide rich information for TKM's researcher. But it's improvement strategy is not systematic and not supported from objective data. So we did online survey and analyzed the results to get insight for improving and activating the OASIS. Also we compared the survey with the previous one conducted in 2009. From the analysis of survey, we can get the 4 results. First OASIS have aged users than young users. Second 39.0% users are using OASIS 2-3 times in a month. Third 18.8% users want OASIS to provide the conference paper in TKM. Finally 21.7% users want paper map analysis system. We must do information strategy planning to get the insight for the improvement. And this survey analysis result will be most important material to our planning. Also we will use this survey analysis result to satisfy the users' needs.

  • A positive destination image has an impact on the tourist arrivals and economic growth of the tourist destination. Recently, the content generated by sharing tourist experiences and destination information on the internet has been increasing. The online content has the potential to become a major tourist decision source and provide more in-depth materials and richer content to extract destination image, insight and tourist's perceptions of the destination. This study was designed to explore the destination image of Daegu online and draw lessons for successful image management in an era of big data. Text mining approach and social network analysis were conducted to extract destination image determining elements and assess the influence of the elements. The result showed that destination image elements related to tourist infra-structures and culture, history and art affected the overall destination image of Daegu. Destination marketers should make an effort to grasp these precise destination image and seek ways to boost competitiveness as a tourist destination.

  • A currently domestic governmental R&D business is early to 100. And this is each managed individually in 15 professional organizations of research and management by characteristics of a business. For this Reason, A redundant investment issue regarding national R&D occurs, and an issue regarding efficiency of R&D investment by insufficiency of systematic R&D research project and result management is continuously raised. Ministry of Education Science and Technology establishing National Science & Technology Information Service(NTIS) in order to solve these issues. NTIS is the national R&D Portal System which can support efficiency of research and development to result utilization in planning of national research and development. In this paper We consider integrated DB constructions and Information Linking of R&D Participants/Projects/Results information in a NTIS system for data quality Improvement. and then We analyze the cause of the data quality problem, and we propose the improvement plan for data quality elevation of NTIS system.

'Hot Search Keyword' Rank-Change Prediction (인기 검색어의 순위 변화 예측)

  • The service, 'Hot Search Keywords', provides a list of the most hot search terms of different web services such as Naver or Daum. The service, bases the changes in rank of a specific search keyword on changes in its users' interest. This paper introduces a temporal modelling framework for predicting the rank change of hot search keywords using past rank data and machine learning. Past rank data shows that more than 70% of hot search keywords tend to disappear and reappear later. The authors processed missing rank value, using deletion, dummy variables, mean substitution, and expectation maximization. It is however crucial to calculate the optimal window size of the past rank data. We proposed an optimal window size selection approach based on the minimum amount of time a topic within the same or a differing context disappeared. The experiments were conducted with four different machine-learning techniques using the Naver, Daum, and Nate 'Hot Search Keywords' datasets, which were collected for 2 years.

  • In recent years, there have been tries to open public data from various government agencies along with publicization of public information for the public interest. In other words, various kinds of electronic data generated and collected by the public institutions as a result of their work are opened in the public portal sites. However, users who use it are limited in their use of big data due to lack of understanding of data format, lack of data processing knowledge, difficulty in accessing and managing data, and lack of visualization data to understand collected and stored data. Therefore, in this study, we propose a big data collection, storing and visualization platform that can collect big data provided by various public sites using data set URL and API regardless of data format, re-process collected data using XML structure.

  • Recently, blogging has been regarded as a promising media for information sharing and relationship building. However, it is not quite sure if the technology acceptance model could be completely adopted also in relationship-based system such as blog. Hence, the purpose of this paper is to identify the factors affecting the usage of blogs. To do so, content analysis methodology is applied to extract meaningful factors affecting the usage of blogs in the opinions of the bloggers in a Korean portal site : Naver. We investigates the causal relationship among three factors ; perceived usefulness, perceived encouragement, and actual use in blogging. Moreover, public self-consciousness, self disclosure and telepresence are also considered as the determinants. The results show that public self-consciousness and self disclosure are significant elements affecting perceived usefulness and perceived encouragement, while perceived usefulness and perceived encouragement both affecting the actual use of blogs.

Design and Implementation of the Performance Driven UI-Mashup Architecture (성능 주도의 UI-Mashup 아키텍처의 설계 및 구현)

  • UI-Mashup is widely used as a service method to add value, which is composed of distributed various contents on the internet and has turned out to be one of the latest trends in web application program development. Previous UI-Mashup-related studies have focused primarily on the dynamic service composition and have not been able to adapt to a rapidly changing Web Standard, thusthe end users conclude that UI-Mashups are slow, incompatible and poor security services. In this study, We propose an architecture for the performance improvements of UI-Mashup.In order to provide fast services and security enhancements, the proposed architecture collects UI fragments on the server in parallel, and sends layouts and contents of Mashups UI to the client through a special delivery channel supporting fast reaction and response time. In this study, the implementation and performance tests were proceeded to verify the proposed architecture experimentally. As a result of the performance testing, the proposed architecture has two to three times faster response time and more than four times throughput compared to the previous UI-Mashup technology.

  • Online advertisement has many benefits comparing to offline advertisement but it also has many challenging problems by online ad abuses. Advertisement injection (Ad injection) is one of the threats that surreptitiously inserts advertisements without a permission of site owners. Users are exposed to additional ads and redundant web traffic by injected ads can cause a service quality problem. Moreover, advertisers can have economic loss when injected ads are different from original ones. Although ad injection leads to these problems it has not been fully studied yet. A few ad injection researches are done by online advertising providers such as Google. In this paper, we analyze ad injection activities to Korean major portal, Naver. We classify 6 types of ad injections and describe their characteristics by analyzing 27 downloaders and 199 installed programs.

An Study on the User Satisfaction of Open Access Activities in Korea (국내 오픈액세스서비스의 이용자 만족도에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze service quality factors that affect user satisfaction of Open Access Korea(OAK) services and to draw strategic assignments for activating open access activities in Korea through a user satisfaction survey. User satisfaction indexes were developed to measure all aspects of the OAK services. The quality index, satisfaction index, and performance index were identified in this survey. According to the survey findings, the levels of social quality and social satisfaction are relatively high, this shows the positive evaluation and expectation of researchers for OAK services. However, relatively low level is identified in the area of service process quality, and many opinions about OA contents shortage in Korea represent the importance of the national level contents development strategy. Sustainable policy support, publishing of open access journals, management of institutional repository, OA governance system, expansion of researchers' participation, construction of global collaboration system are suggested as major implications to promote open access activities in Korea.
