Compressibility Study of Pyromorphite at High Pressure (고압 하에서 녹연석의 압축성에 대한 연구)

  • Pyromorphite($Pb_{4.85}(P_{1.02}O_4)_3Cl_{1.04}$) which belongs to the apatite group was compressed up to 33.4 GPa for its equation of state at ambient temperature. High pressure experiment was performed with symmetrical diamond anvil cell employing the angle dispersive X-ray diffraction method. Pressure was determined by ruby fluorescence calibration method. No phase transition were observed and bulk modulus was determined to be 80(7) GPa when $K{_0}^{\prime}=13(2)$. Employing the normalized pressure-normalized strain analysis, reliability check of the compressible behavior was conducted.

  • Azurite ($Cu_3(CO_3)_2(OH)_2$) was compressed up to 21.52 GPa for its behaviors at ambient temperature. High pressure experiment was performed using the symmetrical diamond anvil cell employed in the angle dispersive X-ray diffraction method. Pressure was determined by ruby fluorescence calibration method. No phase transitions were observed within the present pressure limit and bulk modulus was determined to be 54.4 GPa when ${K_0}^{\prime}$ is fixed to be 4. Applying the normalized pressure-strain analysis, reliability of the azurite compression pattern was checked.

  • In this paper, the ill-posed inverse problem of surface waves caused by a two-dimensional pulsating pressure distribution on the free surface is studied using the regularization method. In order to exemplify the method, a cosine pressure distribution on a limited range of the undisturbed free surface is considered. By taking the resulting horizontal velocity as input data, the corresponding pressure is determined numerically by three different regularization schemes. It is found that the iterated Tikhonov method provides with the most accurate result, while solutions obtained from the Landweber-Friedman regularization are most stable.

High Pressure Behavior Study of the Apophyllite (KF) (고압 하에서 어안석(KF)의 거동 연구)

  • Apophyllite (KF)($K_{0.84}Ca_{3.99}Si_{7.70}O_{20}F_{0.72}{\cdot}8H_2O$), one of the sheet silicates, was compressed up to 7.7 GPa at ambient temperature and 15 high pressure data were obtained. Lattice parameters of the starting specimen were as follows: $a_0=8.954(2)\;{\AA}$, $c_0=15.795(2)\;{\AA}$, $V_0=1266.4(4)\;{\AA}^3$. Symmetrical diamond anvil cell was employed with synchrotron radiation in the mode of angular dispersive X-ray diffraction. Bulk modulus was determined to be 59(4) GPa when ${K_0}^{\prime}$ is 4. No clear first order phase transition symptom was observed in the series of XRD pattern. However, second-order phase transition cannot be ruled out from the correlation between normalized pressure and strain.

  • This paper proposes the road roughness based Braking Pressure Calculation System(BPCS) for an Autonomous Vehicle Stability. The system consists of an image normalization module that processes the front image of a vehicle to fit the input of the random forest, a Random Forest based Road Roughness Classification Module that distinguish the roughness of the road on which the vehicle is travelling by using the weather information and the front image of a vehicle as an input, and a brake pressure control module that modifies a friction coefficient applied to the vehicle according to the road roughness and determines the braking strength to maintain optimal driving according to a vehicle ahead. To verify the efficiency of the BPCS experiment was conducted with a random forest model. The result of the experiment shows that the accuracy of the random forest model was about 2% higher than that of the SVM, and that 7 features should be bagged to make an accurate random forest model. Therefore, the BPCS satisfies both real-time and accuracy in situations where the vehicle needs to brake.

Velocity-porosity relationships in oceanic basalt from eastern flank of the Juan de Fuca Ridge: The effect of crack closure on seismic velocity (Juan do Fuca 해저산맥의 동쪽 측면으로부터 얻은 해양성 현무암의 속도와 공극률의 관계: 균열닫힘이 탄성파 속도에 미치는 영향)

  • To construct in situ velocity-porosity relationships for oceanic basalt, considering crack features, P- and S-wave velocity measurements on basaltic samples obtained from the eastern flank of the Juan de Fuca Ridge were carried out under confining pressures up to 40 MPa. Assuming that the changes in velocities with confining pressures are originated by micro-crack closure, we estimated micro-crack aspect ratio spectra using the Kuster-$Toks{\ddot{o}}z$ theory. The result demonstrates that the normalised aspect ratio spectra of the different samples have similar characteristics. From the normalised aspect ratio spectrum, we then constructed theoretical velocity-porosity relationships by calculating an aspect ratio spectrum for each porosity. In addition, by considering micro-crack closure due to confining pressure, a velocity-porosity relationship as a function of confining pressure could be obtained. The theoretical relationships that take into account the aspect ratio spectra are consistent with the observed relationships for over 100 discrete samples measured at atmospheric pressure, and the commonly observed pressure dependent relationships for a wide porosity range. The agreement between the laboratory-derived data and theoretically estimated values demonstrates that the velocity-porosity relationships of the basaltic samples obtained from the eastern flank of the Juan de Fuca Ridge, and their pressure dependence, can be described by the crack features (i.e. normalised aspect ratio spectra) and crack closure.

Computation of Turbulent Flow around Wigley Hull Using 4-Stage Runge-Kutta Scheme on Nonstaggered Grid (정규격자계와 4단계 Range-Kutta법을 사용한 Wigley선형 주위의 난류유동계산)

  • Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equations are solved numerically for the computation of turbulent flow around a Wigley double model. A second order finite difference method is applied for the spatial discretization on the nonstaggered grid system and 4-stage Runge-Kutta scheme for the numerical integration in time. In order to increase the time step, residual averaging scheme of Jameson is adopted. Pressure field is obtained by solving the pressure-Poisson equation with the appropriate Neumann boundary condition. For the turbulence closure, 0-equation turbulence model of Baldwin-Lomax is used. Numerical computation is carried out for the Reynolds number of 4.5 million. Comparisons of the computed results with the available experimental data show good agreements for the velocity and pressure distributions.

Experimental and Computational Investigation of the Flow around a Circular Cylinder (실험 및 중첩격자를 이용한 수치해석에 의한 원형단면체 주위의 유동고찰)

  • 원형주상체 주위의 유동을 규명하기 위해 회류수조에서 원주방향으로 24개의 위치에 대하여 압력을 계측하였으며, laser sheet을 이용하여 유동을 가시화 하였다. Reynolds수가 4800에서 40000인 범위에 대하여 실험을 수행하였다. 또한, 원형단면체 주위의 비정상 층류유동에 대한 Navier-Stokes방정식의 해를 구하는 수치해석기법을 개발하였다. 효과적인 격자배치를 위하여 H와 O-type의 중첩격자를 사용하였고, 이산화 방법으로는 정규격자시스템에서 유한차분법을 적용하였다. 실험과 수치해석결과에서 뚜렷한 와류박리현상을 볼 수 있었으며, 압력계수 (C$_{p}$ ), 항력계수(C$_{D}$), 스트로얼수(St)를 정량적으로 비교하였을 때, 비교적 잘 일치하는 것을 확인하였다.다.

  • Various discretiation methods of Laplacian operator in the Pressure-Poisson equation are investigated for the solution of incompressible Navier-Stokes equations using the non-staggered grid. Laplacian operators previously proposed by other researchers are applied to a Driven-Cavity problem. The computational results are compared with those of Ghia. The results show the characteristics of the discrete Laplacian operators.

  • Alloy 600 widely used in nuclear power plant is susceptible to primary water stress corrosion cracking (PWSCC). It is important to prioritize the inspection of Alloy 600 components using PWSCC susceptibility index. Plant-specific model for the susceptibility index was reviewed. The normalized PWSCC susceptibility index to a reference value is suggested and applied. The result was found to be reasonable.
