In this investigation, results of laboratory tests on six reinforce concrete flat plate interior connections with elongated rectangular column support which has been used widely in tall residential buildings are presented. The purpose of this study is to evaluate an effect of column aspect ratio(${\beta}$c=$c_1/c_2$) on the hysteretic behavior under earthquake type loading. The aspect ratio of column section was taken as 0.33${\sim}$3($c_1/c_2$=1/3, 1/1, 3/1). Other design parameters such as flexural reinforcement ratio of slab and concrete strength was kept constant as ${\rho}$=1.0%, 1.5% and $f){ck}$=40MPa, respectively. Gravity shear load($V_g$) was applied by 30 percents of nominal vertical shear strength(0.3$V_o$) of the specimen. Experimental observations on punching failure pattern, peak lateral-load and story drift ratio at punching failure, and stiffness degradation were achieved and discussed in accordance with different column aspect ratio.
Well-designed steel moment connections will undergo local buckling before they exhaust their available rotation capacity, and inelastic post-buckling deformation plays a major role in defining the connection rotation capacity. An approximate analytical method to model strength degradation and failure of beam plastic hinges due to local buckling and estimation of the seismic rotation capacity of fully restrained beam-column connections in special steel moment-resisting frames under both monotonic and cyclic loading conditions is proposed in this study. This method is based on the plastic mechanism and a yield line plastic hinge (YLPH) model whose geometry is determined using the shapes of the buckled plastic hinges observed in experiments. The proposed YLPH model was developed for the improved WUF-W and RBS connections and validated in comparison with experimental data. The effects of the beam section geometric parameters on the rotation capacity were discussed in the companion paper (parametric studies).
The behavior of double angle connections is analyzed by 3D finite element method using ABAQUS(ver 5.8). Moment-rotation curves for the connections are generated, as well as stress distribution for angle and bolt. Double angle connections have various angle thickness, gage distance and number of bolt. Parameters, such as initial stiffness, plastic tiffness, reference load and curve shape parameter were obtained by regression method using Richard's formula. These parameter lead to predict nonlinear behavior of double angle connection. Design curves giving the parameters of the moment-rotation curves are generated. These parameters are primarily a function of the angle thickness, gage distance and the number of bolts in the connection. Using these parameters, connection moment and its ratio to the full plastic moment capacity Mp of the beam are calculated.
A double split tee connection is used as a connection that is suitable for ordinary moment frames or special moment frames according to the combination of variables of the thickness of the T-stub flange and the gauge distance of the high-strength bolts. In order to demonstrate safe structural behavior, a double split tee connection must meet the requirements for inter-story drift angles and the moment of connection, as defined in the Korea Building Code-Structural. In order to determine whether the these requirements are met, it is necessary to predict rotational stiffness and the ultimate plastic moment of the connection. Therefore, this study primarily aimed to propose an analytical model for predicting the rotational stiffness of a double split tee connection under a static load. Toward this end, a three-dimensional, non-linear finite element analysis was carried out. Then, the applicability of the proposed model was verified after comparing the test results of this study with other studies.
Flat plate structures under lateral load are susceptible to punching shear failure of the slab-column connection. To prevent such brittle failure, strength and ductility of the connection should be ensured. However, due to complexity in the behavior and difficulty in simulating the actual load and boundary conditions of the flat plate system, it is not easy to obtain reliable data regarding to the strength and ductility from the previous experimental studies. In the present study, a numerical study was performed for interior connections of continuous flat plate. For the purpose, a computer program for nonlinear FE analyses was developed, and the validity was verified by comparisons with the existing experimental results. Through the parametric studies, the variations of bending moment, shear, and torsional moment around the connection were investigated. Based on the findings of the numerical studies, the aspects which need to be improved in current design methods were discussed. The results of the present study will be used for developing a design method for the flat plate-column connection in the companion paper.
In this report, the test results of five reinforced concrete beam-column joint subjected to cyclic load are presented. The main purpose of the research is to investigate the influence of the steel pull-out of the beam-column joints to the shear and ductile capacity of the RC beam-column assembles. In addition, the influence of the amount of beam reinforcement to the joint shear and ductile capacity is evaluated. Test results indicate that the yield penetration of steel bar increases as the joint shear strength ratio, $V_{j1}/V_{jby}$ decreases. And the slippage of the steel bars are varied according to the region of the beam-column joints. The pull-out of the steel bars of five specimens was almost the same regardless of the joint shear strength ratio, $V_{j1}/V_{jby}$. Because it was affected by not only the yield penetration of steel bar but also the axial elongation in the plastic hinge.

It has been shown that many Reinforced Concrete(RC) structures designed without seismic details have experienced brittle shear failures in the beam-column joint area and resulted in large permanent deformations and structural collapse. In this study, experimental investigations into the performance of exterior reinforced concrete beam-column joints strengthened with the carbon fiber-reinforced polymer(CFRP) under cyclic loading were presented. The CFRP has been applied by choosing different combinations and locations to determine the effective way to improve structural performances of joints. Eight beam-column joints were tested to investigate behaviors of each specimen under cyclic load and to compare performances of seismic retrofit. According to the experimental study, the retrofit strengthened with the CFRP provides significant improvements of flexural capacity and ductility of beam-column joints originally built without seismic details.
The structural connection design for lightweight structure application is presented in this paper. Modeling of the welding zone and the bolted connection are suggested. For reliability verification of the established models, nonlinear analysis is performed and comparisons are made with the experimental data showing good agreement. Through comparison study, suitable welding method for structure materials is investigated. Also, stability analysis is performed by fracture load simulation for different number and position of bolts. Finally, based on the structural connection models, the lightweight structure is modeled and structural analysis was performed. Stability analysis of structural connection for lightweight structure design, through combination of welding and bolting process, showed a 31.4% decrease in the maximum stress compared to the structure without the structural connections. Importance of structural connection design is highlighted for lightweight structure stability analysis.

Characteristics of Cu/Si/Cu ohmic contacts to n-type 4H-SiC were investigated systematically. The ohmic contacts were formed by rf sputtering of multi layer Cu/Si/Cu sputtered sequentially. The annealings were peformed With 2-Step using RTP in vacuum ambient. The specific contact resistivity($\rho$c), sheet resistance(Rs), contact resistance(Rc), transfer length(L$_{T}$) were calculated from resistance(R$_{T}$) versus contact spacing(d) measurements obtained from TLM(transmission line method) structure. Best results were obtained for a sample annealed at vacuum as $\rho$c = 1.0x10$^{-6}$$\Omega$$\textrm{cm}^2$, Rc = 2$\Omega$ and L$_{T}$ = 1${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. The physical properties of contacts were examined using XRO and AES. The results showed that copper silicide was formed on SiC and Cu was migrated into SiC.o SiC.

The paper presented the seismic performance of T-stiffener moment connections for use in steel moment-resisting frames. The connections were strengthened by welding the vertical and horizontal clement of the T-stiffener to the beam flange and column f1ange. Finite clement analysis and experiments were conducted to determine the behavior of T-stiffener-reinforced connections. The results of the finite element analysis confirmed the effectiveness of the T-stiffener, whose horizontal element lengthened to mitigate local stress concentrations of the beam flange on the horizontal stiffener. Full-scale specimens were also tested cyclically to study hysteresis behavior. The main parameters used were the ratio of the T-stiffener to beam strength and the shape of the horizontal element. As the length of the horizontal element increased, the deformation capacity of the connections enhanced. Likewise, all specimens behaved according to the Ramberg-Osgood curve and showed stable hysteresis behavior.
