Effects of Brine Immersion and Electrode Contact Type Low Voltage Ohmic Thawing on the Physico-chemical Properties of Pork Meat (염수 침지식 및 전극 접촉식 저전압 Ohmic 해동 처리가 돈육의 이화학적 특성에 미치는 효과)

  • This study investigated the effect of ohmic thawing on the physicochemical properties of pork meat. The physicochemical properties of pork meat thawed by brine immersion and electrode contact ohmic systems were compared. A more rapid thawing rate was seen with the electrode contact thawing system than with brine immersion. No significant differences in pH were found with increasing voltage for both thawing methods (p>0.05). Increasing the voltage level tended to decrease drip loss, resulting in increased water holding capacity. The shear forces of pork thawed at 50 V did not differ from the control (p>0.05) for both thawing methods. Although significantly high TBARS (p<0.05) values were found at 20 and 40 V for immersion, and 0 V for contact thawing, increasing the voltage level tended to decrease the TBARS values. Regarding TVBN, no significant effect was observed with increasing voltage levels (p>0.05). The total color difference of pork was significantly higher (p<0.05) with immersion thawing than with electrode contact thawing. These results indicate that brine immersion thawing is favorable at high voltage levels, while lower voltage levels are applicable for electrode contact thawing.

  • This study was designed to investigate the attrition pattern in Angle Class III malocclusion with facial asymmetry. The sample consisted of three groups, the 20 subjects of normal occlusion group(Group I), the 12 subjects of class III malocclusion without facial asymmetry group(Group II) and 17 subjects of Class III malocclusion with facial asymmetry group(Group III). Attrition areas from canine to second molar on both sides in upper and lower arch, totally twenty, was marked by pencil and mesured by computer system(INTERGRAPH CO. USA) 2 times and the average value was used for date processing. Total attrition area in Group I was larger than in Group II and III. 2. There was no significant difference in attrition area between right and left side in each group, but attrition area in Group III was larger than in Group I and II. 3. In Group I, Maxillary attrition area was larger than mandibular attrition area, but in Group ll and III, there was no significant difference in attrition area between maxilla and mandible. 4. In Group III, the attrition area of deviated side was target than undeviated side 5. There was no significant difference in attrition area between chewing side and non-chewing side in each group. 6. The total attrition area was unaffected by gender.

Experimental Validation of Isogeometric Optimal Design (아이소-지오메트릭 형상 최적설계의 실험적 검증)

  • In this paper, the CAD data for the optimal shape design obtained by isogeometric shape optimization is directly used to fabricate the specimen by using 3D printer for the experimental validation. In a conventional finite element method, the geometric approximation inherent in the mesh leads to the accuracy issue in response analysis and design sensitivity analysis. Furthermore, in the finite element based shape optimization, subsequent communication with CAD description is required in the design optimization process, which results in the loss of optimal design information during the communication. Isogeometric analysis method employs the same NURBS basis functions and control points used in CAD systems, which enables to use exact geometrical properties like normal vector and curvature information in the response analysis and design sensitivity analysis procedure. Also, it vastly simplify the design modification of complex geometries without communicating with the CAD description of geometry during design optimization process. Therefore, the information of optimal design and material volume is exactly reflected to fabricate the specimen for experimental validation. Through the design optimization examples of elasticity problem, it is experimentally shown that the optimal design has higher stiffness than the initial design. Also, the experimental results match very well with the numerical results. Using a non-contact optical 3D deformation measuring system for strain distribution, it is shown that the stress concentration is significantly alleviated in the optimal design compared with the initial design.

  • 금속산화물의 열화학싸이클에 의한 수소생산 소재중 안정성이 우수하고 물분해 수소생산능이 비교적 우수한 $NiFe_2O_4$를 합성하여 열화학수소생산공정 적용시 최적화의 조건에 대하여 검토하였다. 합성한 $NiFe_2O_4$는 격자상수가 $8.34\;{\AA}$이었고, 뫼스바우어에 의해 구조는 Ni이 페라이트 구조인 $AB_2O$의 B위치에 주로 위치하는, A 및 B의 상대적 흡수강도가 57.9:42.1인 역스피넬구조를 보이고 있다. 이러한 구조의 $NiFe_2O_4$의 열적환원은 $610^{\circ}C$부터 시작하여 $1200^{\circ}C$에 이르는 동안 약 1.1 wt%의 무게감소가 관찰된다. 물에 의한 산화과정에서 수소가 발생하게 되는데, $1200^{\circ}C$이하의 환원온도에서 가능한 수소생산량은 약 $0.45\;cm^3/g{\codt}cycle$ 이었다. 산화 환원의 반복과정에서 $NiFe_2O_4$의 XRD에 의한 구조변화는 관찰되지 않아 매우 안정한 구조를 갖는다는 것을 보여주었다. 수소생산을 위한 무게당 싸이클당 수소생산양은 산화 환원과정의 온도범위가 가장 중요하였고 물의 접촉시간은 중요한 요소가 되지 않았다. 열적 환원과정에서 많은 양의 수소생산성능을 보이기 위해서는 $1200^{\circ}C$이상의 고온을 필요로 하는 것을 보여주었다.

  • We have investigated the correlation between the active-layer uniformity and reliability of InGaN/GaN blue LEDs. According to initial characteristics, the devices are classified into two groups: group I devices of uniform light-emission and group II devices of non-uniform light-emission. The group II devices are more dependent on temperature and we have found two degradation mechanisms through reliability test. One is bulk degradation in which the degradation occurred over the entire chip and another one is edge degradation in which the degradation occurred from the edge of the chip. Bulk degradation caused by the nonradiative defects is found to be faster in group II devices while there is no difference in the rate of the much faster edge degradation, where darkening starts from the n-Ohmic contact edge. Therefore, more uniform active layer, more uniform current spreading, and the passivation of the dry-etched side-wall are essential for the high reliability of InGaN/GaN LEDs.

  • An explosion modeling technique was developed by using the spherical discrete element code, $PFC^{3D}$, which can be used to model the dynamic stress wave propagation phenomenon. The modeling technique is simply based on an idea that the explosion pressure should be applied to a $PFC^{3D}$ particle assembly not in the form of an external force (body force), but in the form of a contact force (surface force). A test blast was conducted for a RC column, whose dimension was $600\times300\times1800$ in millimeters. The initial velocities of the surface movements were measured to be in the range of $14\~18\;m/s$ with the initiation times of $1.5\~2.0m$. Then the blasting procedure was simulated by using the modeling technique. The particle assembly representing the concrete was made of cement mortar and coarse aggregates, whose mirco-properties were obtained from the calibration processes. As a result, the modeling technique developed in this study made it possible for the burden to move with the velocity of $17\~24\;m/s$, which are slightly higher values compared to those of the test blast.

  • RFID, Radio Frequency Identification, is a technology of automated identification replacing bar-code. RFID technology has advantages that it recognizes fast and it is strong to contamination using wireless communication. However, there are difficult problems that should be solved for popularization of RFID. Among of these, tag anti-collision problem is dealed in this paper. It affected the performance of RFID system directly. This paper analyzes conventional algorithms and proposes new algorithms of tag anti-collision. The algorithm proposed was composed of appropriate properties to each phase of distribution and recognition as hybrid between ALOHA-based algorithm and QT-based algorithm. At phase of distribution, the number of tags recognizing at a frame was reduced using ALOHA-based algorithm. It addressed the delay problem because of deep depth of tree. At phase of recognition, it solved ALOHA-based chronic problem that couldn't recognize all the tags sometimes. Moreover, QTR algorithm that recognize by reversed tag IDs was adopted for the performance. The FQTR algorithm proposed in this paper showed brilliant performance as compared with convention algorithms by simulation.

  • 생체정보를 이용한 보안 솔루션이 활발하게 연구되고 있는 가운데, 지문은 가장 널리 사용되고 또한 중점적으로 연구되고 있는 생체특징의 하나로 자리잡았다. 지문인식 시스템에 사용되는 지문 입력기는 광학식, 반도체식 등 다양하나 입력방식은 주로 압착날인식으로 회전식과 달리 손가락 끝을 입력창에 대어 그 순간 접촉된 면의 지문만을 입력받게 된다. 그러므로 입력된 지문영상은 전체지문과 비교했을 때 극히 일부분에 불과하여, 이러한 제한된 영역으로부터 획득된 지문영상들을 비교한다면 비록 동일 지문이라 할지라도 획득 위치의 상이함으로 인해 타인 지문으로 오인식할 소지가 있다. 또한 특징점에 기반한 지문인증 알고리즘의 경우에는 두 지문으로부터 추출된 특징점의 위치 및 상태 정보의 신뢰성에 전적으로 의존하게되므로 특징점의 오추출 및 누락이 전체 시스템 성능을 좌우하게된다. 그러므로 가능한한 넓은 영역의 지문을 사용하고 신뢰할 만한 특징 추출 결과를 얻는 것이 에러율을 개선하는데 필수적이라 하겠다. 이에, 본 논문에서는 사용자 등록시 한 지문에서 획득한 복수의 지문영상을 이용하여 정렬 및 정합 과정을 거친 후 지문영상의 영역을 확장하고 해당 지문영상에서 추출된 특징점을 비교하여 유효하지 않은 특징점을 제거하는 과정을 통하여 등록시 저장되는 특징점 템플릿의 신뢰도를 높여주는 방법을 제안하였다. 제안된 알고리즘은 결과의 객관성을 확보하기 위하여 FVC 2002에서 제공하는 데이터베이스로 테스트한 결과 2.12%의 EER(Equal Error Rate)을 얻을 수 있었다.

  • In this paper, we study changes in company revenue structure. For this, we introduce a new concept for an expanded e-business community - Supra Hub. Based on this concept, we analyze current problems with regard to revenue structure in industry-specific cases and propose advisable alternatives. These alternatives are derived from Burts research on Network and Organization. We conclude that new community is coming connecting industry-specific networks.

  • The dynamic behavior of multi-layered stone masonry monuments, such as stone pagoda, are mainly influenced by contour condition of contacting surface of stones. These structures can be modeled as a multi-degrees of freedom system. In this case the mass of the system can be easily estimated, mean while the estimation of stiffness at junction is not simple. In this paper a method for estimating the spring constant at the contacting surface of stone is proposed. The proposed method utilizes the natural frequency of the system which can be obtained by eigenvalue analysis.
