A muiltileaf collimator (MLC) is used as a replacement for conventional blocks. The MLC, however may not be appropriate for a fine field shaping. For the fine field shaping, conventional block can be added under the MLC. But it may significantly affect on the dosimetric characteristics such as surface dose of skin, buildup region and percent depth doses. We performed the study to evaluate the surface dose and the maximum depth dose using MLC conjunction with conventional blocks for various field sizes and energies. We confirmed the surface dose was increased by using the additional conventional block under the MLC ranging from 10 to 35.6% according to various field sizes and radiation beam energies. The surface dose was effectively reduced by application of 2 or 3 m thickness of lead plate as electron filter.
In this paper, we demonstrate a facile fabrication technique for a periodically aligned metal nanoparticle array, for a narrow-band plasmonic absorber. The metal nanoparticles are fabricated by e-beam evaporation and heat treatment processes on top of a periodic aluminum groove template. The plasmonic absorber is constructed with the transferred metal nanoparticle array, sputtered 33-nm-thick $Al_2O_3$, and 200-nm-thick metal reflector layers on silicon substrate. 46-nm-diameter and 76-nm-lattice metal-nanoparticle-array-based plasmonic absorber has performed as a narrow-band absorber with a central wavelength of 572 nm and full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 109.9 nm.
This paper describes a method for a falling weight impact test to estimate the impact energy absorbing characteristics and impact strength of CFRP laminate plates based on considerations of stress wave propagation theory. The absorbed energy of T300 orthotropic composites is higher than that of quasi-isotropic specimen over impact energy 6.8J, but in case of using T700 fiber, much difference does not show. Also, absorbed energy of T300 orthotropic composites, which are composed of the same stacking number and orientation became more than that of T700 fiber specimen; however there was no big difference in case of quasi-isotropic specimens. The delamination areas of the impacted specimen were measured with the ultrasonic C-scanner to find correlation between impact energy and delamination area. The fracture surfaces were observed by using the SEM (scanning electron microscope) through a low-velocity impact test in order to confirm the fracture mechanism.
The absorption and the interference shielding of the problems thor both commercial and military purposes. In this study, the minimization of the electromagnetic wale reflections using composite layers with different dielectric properties was performed. Dielectric constants were measured for glass/epoxy composites containing conductive carbon blacks and carbon/epoxy fabric composites. Using the measured permittivities of the composites having various carbon black contents, the optimal electromagnetic wave absorbing structure in X-band(8.2GHz-12.4GHz) was determined. The optimal multi-layered composite plates have the thickness of 2.6mm. The maximum reflection loss is -30dB at 10GHz, and the bandwidth haying the absorptivity lower than -l0dB is about 2GHz.

In this paper microwave power propagated through the cold plasma was analyzed and measured with respect to the external magenetic flux density. The d. c discharge plasma was in the rectangular waveguide in which two electrode was inserted, and also the glass diseharge tube inserted in the ractangular wavegside. The direction of microwave pro-pagation, the axis of the discharge tube and external magnetic flux were perpendicular to each other. It showed that the attenuation and absorption of micro wave power propagated in the plasma was increased as the magnetic flux density, the discharge current and the pressure of the gas were increased.

Purpose : To obtain the uniform dose at limited depth to entire surface of the body, the dose characteristics of degraded electron beam of the large target-skin distance and the dose distribution of the six-dual electron fields were investigated Materials and Method : The experimental dose distributions included the depth dose curve, spatial dose and attenuated electron beam were determined with 300 cm of target-skin distance (TSD) and full collimator size (35*35 $cm^2$ on TSD 100 cm) in 4 MeV electron beam energy. Actual collimated field size of 105 cm * 105 cm at the distance of 300 cm could include entire hemibody. A patient was standing on step board with hands up and holding the pole to stabilize his/her positions for the six-dual fields technique. As a scatter-degrader, 0.5 cm of acrylic plate was inserted at 20 cm from the body surface on the electron beam path to induce ray scattering and to increase the skin dose. Results : The full width at half maximum(FWHM) of dose profile was 130 cm in large field of 105*105 $cm^2$ The width of $100\pm10\%$ of the resultant dose from two adjacent fields which were separated at 25 cm from field edge for obtaining the dose unifomity was extended to 186 cm. The depth of maximum dose lies at 5 mm and the 80$\%$ depth dose lies between 7 and 8 mm for the degraded electron beam by using the 0.5 cm thickness of acrylic absorber. Total skin electron beam irradiation (TSEBI) was carried out using the six dual fields has been developed at Stanford University. The dose distribution in TSEBI showed relatively uniform around the flat region of skin except the protruding and deeply curvatured portion of the body, which showed excess of dose at the former and less dose at the latter. Conclusion : The percent depth dose, profile curves and superimposed dose distribution were investigated using the degraded electron beam through the beam absorber. The dose distribution obtained by experiments of TSEBI showed within$\pm10\%$ difference except the protruding area of skin which needs a shield and deeply curvatured region of skin which needs boosting dose.
Increasing frequency of skin cancer, mycosis fungoides, Kaposi's sarcoma etc, it need to treatment dose planning for total skin electron beam (TSEB) therapy. Appropriate treatment planning for TSEB therapy is needed to give homogeneous dose distribution throughout the entire skin surface. The energy of 6 MeV electron from the 18 MeV medical linear accelerator was adapted for superficial total skin electron beam therapy. The energy of the electron beam was reduced to 4.2 MeV by a $0.5\;cm\times90\;cm{\times}180\;cm$ acryl screen placed in a feet front of the patient. Six dual field beam was adapted for total skin irradiation to encompass the entire body surface from head to toe simultaneously. The patients were treated behind the acryl screen plate acted as a beam scatterer and contained a parallel-plate shallow ion chamber for dosimetry and beam monitoring. During treatment, the patient was placed in six different positions due to be homogeneous dose distribution for whole skin around the body. One treatment session delivered 400 cGy to the entire skin surface and patients were treated twice a week for eight consecutive weeks, which is equivalent to TDF value 57. instrumentation and techniques developed in determining the depth dose, dose distribution and bremsstrahlung dose are discussed.
As applications of electromagnetic waves increase, biological effects caused by the EM waves are worried about. Many studies about the biological effects are reported. However, there are only a few reports on protection against the EM waves. The protection should be considered for the researchers who use strong EM waves in their experiments. In this paper, a method of reducing SAR in a cylindrical human model by a shield plate is proposed for RF engineers exposed to strong electromagnetic waves. The shield plate modeled as an arc structure is shown effectively to protect the cylindrical human model from the exposed field.
