Since Daejeon observatory has been built as the first astronomical science museum(ASM) whose theme is astronomy and space, many ASMs have been built or are being built by the governmental support. ASMs are requested to perform an important role as the educational venue that can be experienced the scientific activities for supplementing regular science education. This study investigated the analysis of the connection to astronomy-related contents of science curriculum revised in 2009 for exhibits of 17 ASMs. As a result, exhibits of ASMs show the low reflectivity to science curriculum and are very biased to standard of accomplishment. That is, they are not sufficient enough for the students to reach the learning objectives. However the astronomical scientific activities which are hard to be performed in regular school curriculum can be experienced at ASMs. Additionally, since exhibits of ASMs are easy to access and accept, they can provide the effective educational activities and learning effect. Therefore, ASMs have to be improved for supplementing regular science education through the informal curriculum of astronomical scientific activities by the producing and displaying good astronomy-related exhibits.

Daylighting is one of the major elements in architectural design. It also plays an important role in the museums focused on displaying artistic works. Many architects have tried to predict daylighting performances in exhibition spaces during the design process of museums. The aims of this study are to present the design methods using the computer program RADIANCE that is available for the evaluations of daylighting performances in indoor space and to help architects design daylighting systems for better exhibition spaces of museums. For this study, Seoul Museum of Art was chosen and it was evaluated the recommended illuminance and the impacts of direct sunlight under the conditions of overcast sky and clear sky with sun. According to simulation results, they indicated that the alternative toplight system(sawtooth shape) was more effective for daylighting of exhibition spaces than the existing toplight system(pyramid shape) and this study showed a method to evaluate daylighting effects in exhibition spaces with various shapes of toplight systems.

Libraries have recently sought to diversify their roles to meet the changing needs of local residents, while faithfully playing the library's original roles. The creation of a complex cultural space and the provision of services based on it are one of the ways to expand its role. In this study, a surveyed and analyzed the awareness of the complex cultural space of the library and the preference and awareness of the program operated in the complex cultural space by conducting a survey on the users of the library currently operating the complex cultural space. As a result, first, it was found that they preferred information space, education space, and rest space in space preference. On the other hand, community space and experience space showed low preference. Second, they prefer educational programs, exhibition programs, and performance programs that utilize complex cultural spaces, but experience programs and community programs have low preference. Therefore, it is necessary to operate the program by providing exhibitions and performance spaces while providing information and education spaces to users. The librarian should also promote the fact that library can be only the space of information and education, but also the space where culture, healing, experience and communication take place. In addition, libraries should strive to improve user awareness of library space.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the compositions and characteristics in cultural programs of the 1988 Seoul Olympics and the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games. A research method was considered the developmental aspects of Cultural Olympics in all-time Olympic Games and the cases of Cultural Olympics in a host country through a documentary research method. The compositions and characteristics in cultural programs of the 1988 Seoul Olympics and the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games were diversely analyzed. The results are as follows. First, a concept of a cultural program was deepened and developed at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. In the wake of the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, IOC published the Cultural Olympic Guide. Through the 2012 London Olympics, the Cultural Olympic Guide was revised. Second, the cultural programs of the 1988 Seoul Olympics and the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games showed the characteristics of image change & status and of the international exchange strengthening in a host country and a holding city. Third, in terms of cultural programs, the 1988 Seoul Olympics comprised the celebrations, performances & exhibitions amid the Culture and Arts Festival, and the International Academic Conference. The 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games were composed of performances, exhibitions, festivals, humanities & experience, and educational events. Fourth, the 1988 Seoul Olympics included the key element of forming a program that equally has the characteristics with the harmony between tradition and modernity, with the promotion of the excellence in Korean traditional culture & the spread in a bond of sympathy, and with various cultures and arts in each region. Also, the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games pushed ahead with the strategy dubbed 'The Olympics in which there is culture day after day, in which provincial residents participate, and in which the cultural heritage is left' in order to systematically expedite the cultural Olympics.

There are exhibit commentary media (docent, mobile device) for assisting family visitors in the museum, and the communication within family members could be affected by which media they use. When using a docent, family visitors lowered their voice or restrained talks for paying attention to a docent' explanation. When using a mobile device, family visitors mainly relied on a mobile device, so they did not pay attention to the objects. The results of the survey showed that parents reported no difference between the docent and the mobile device on some measurement items and preferred the docent to the mobile device on other measurement items. On the other hand, children showed strong preference toward the mobile deice over the docent because of their enjoyment for operating the mobile device. Regardless of which media they used, the communication among family members could be enhanced by being together. Therefore, the museum should design and operate a docent program for family visitors to enhance the communication among family members. In addition, the museum should consider how family visitors using a mobile device would pay attention to objects and enhance the communication.

'어린이책의 다양성과 어린이 놀이 문화의 이해를 넓히자'는 취지 아래 출판도시문화재단에서 매년 주최해오고 있는 파주어린이책한마당이 '2005파주어린이책잔치'로 새롭게 이름을 바꾸고 지난 9월30일에서 10월9일까지 경기도 파주출판도시에서 개최됐다. 올해로 3회째를 맞이한 이 행사는 다양한 어린이책 전시와 체험프로그램을 펼치는 문화축제다. '책에 대해서 재미나게 배우자'는 주제하에 기획된 2005어린이책잔치는 '어린이 책-신나는 이미지 세계'라는 제목으로 문을 열었다. 이와 함께 파주출판도시에 입주한 출판사들은 저마다 준비해 온 책마을 집들이 행사를 통해 어린이 책에 관련된, 혹은 어린이 눈높이에 맞춘 다양한 이미지의 책잔치를 펼침으로써 많은 호응을 얻었다.

아시아 최대 규모의 책 축제인 '파주북소리 2011(PAJU BOOKSORI 2011)'이 지난 10월 1일부터 9일까지 파주출판도시에서 펼쳐졌다. '책 읽는 사람, 책 쓰는 사람 책 만드는 사람이 함께하는 아시아 지식의 축제'라는 기치 아래 펼쳐진 이번 축제에는 260여개 출판사와 300여개 문화예술 단체 및 기관이 참여해 전시와 강연 공연 등 136개 프로그램이 진행됐다. 이러한 다양성으로 인해 올해 처음 열린 축제였지만 30만명 이상의 관람객이 몰리는 등 그야말로 파주는 축제의 한마당이었다.

In spite of increasing women migrants, proper social programs based on human rights are hardly found. In this paper, with the implication of 'diaspora', the essential term of multi-culturalism from the perspective of migrant women is briefly discussed. Also, social programs for migrant women are suggested through looking into the experiences of EU. EU policies and social programs are reorganized through data analysis and policy contents analysis. EU has longer history of immigration, and has provided the proper and long-term programs to accept migrant women as the qualified social member. EU social programs are based on the principles of non-discrimination, full employment, human rights and citizenship. Social programs should imply long-term inclusive policy for migrants, and help migrants to experience empowerment in the society. By looking into some examples of social programs of employment, education and general knowledge, useful social programs are to be suggested.

This study investigated the errors in presenting paleontology exhibition data in 9 natural history museums for 2 years and two months from 15, Aug. 2013 to 25, March 2015. It was found that seven natural history museums presented 28 difference cases of data in error. The purpose of this study was to investigate why the errors occurred and how to prevent the errors from occurring and finally how to correct the errors earlier. For this purpose, this study review related literatures using conference proceedings, books, conducted a survey via natural history museums. Results suggested five ways to correct errors in the future. First, it is suggested that the authorities of the museum increase the number of curators and have specialists participate in excavation and maintenance, research, preparation of the exhibition data through a collaboration with universities and research institutes. Second, it is also suggested that the authorities establish the classification system to use in the exhibition process and secure a job for their maintenance specialists. Third, the authorities of museum should put an examination process in place as a system by inviting the external experts into the exhibition process and also establish a process of collecting errors identified by any museum visitors. Fourth, the authorities of museum should make an efforts to increase the participating rate of correcting errors through SNS, Docent, and educational programs among the community members and students. Fifth, they also should use mass media to show and present the research-proven figures of paleontological fossils, which hopefully helps resolve issues of the prior unchanging cultural inertia.

The purpose of this study is to investigate how much the programs of astronomy museums reflect the contents and objectives of current science curriculums. To attain the aim, comparison and analysis on the museum programs and science curriclum have been made. Five domestic astronomy museums have been selected. The contents and forms of their programs have been studied and appreciated by assessment instruments for astronomy museum programs. The assessment instruments were devised in consideration of both the science curriculums of the Ministry of Education(1997) and the achievement and evaluation criteria of the Korea Institute of Curriculum and Evaluation. The findings of this study are summarized as follows: The astronomy museums reflect most of the learning elements of science curricula concerning astronomy. These results indicate that the astronomy museum as an informal education institute is comparatively well connected to science education. The 5thgrade science curriculum reflected mostly on the museum programs, and too many of the astronomy museum programs were in forms of panel exhibition. Science curricula fared well but they failed to reflect the curricular objectives, which resulted in relatively low assessment scores. It is suggested that the findings of this study can be a foundation and act as guidance for selecting and developing astronomy museum programs which include the contents of the science curriculums more substantially.
