To avoid abrupt torsional failure due to concrete crushing before yielding of torsional reinforcement and control the diagonal crack width, design codes specify the limitations on the yield strength of torsional reinforcement of RC members. In 2012, Korean Concrete Institute design code increased the allowable maximum yield strength of torsional reinforcement from 400 MPa to 500 MPa based on the analytical and experimental research results. Although there are many studies regarding the shear behavior of RC members with high strength stirrups, limited studies of the RC members regarding the yield strength of torsional reinforcement are available. In this study, twelve RC beams having different yield strength of torsional reinforcement and compressive strength of concrete were tested. The experimental test results indicated that the torsional failure modes of RC beams were influenced by the yield strength of torsional reinforcement and the compressive strength of concrete. The test beams with normal strength torsional reinforcement showed torsional tension failure, while the test beams with high strength torsional reinforcement greater than 480 MPa showed torsional compression failure. Therefore, additional analytical and experimental works on the RC members subjected to torsion, especially the beams with high strength torsional reinforcement, are needed to find an allowable maximum yield strength of torsional reinforcement.

While a great progress has been achieved in predicting the ultimate shear strength in the RC members, it is a fact that a method in order to estimate the ductility of RC members still has to be looked for. This study theoretically predict the ductility of RC beams which fail in shear after flexural yielding by considering the deterioration of concrete strength in plastic hinge region.
When a bolt is tightened up to the range of plastic deformation, yielding may be governed by the combined stresses due to the axial force developed in the bolt and the frictional torque induced on the thread by the contact with the nut. Consideration is taken account of the fact that the unengaged portion of the thread has least sectional area, being subject to initial yielding. Once yielding has taken place some strain hardening effect may result. Incremental stress-strain relations are used to treat the continued yielding, which is equivalent to treat continued yielding as if summing up the effects of thin walled cylinders subject to plastic deformation. M10 bolts of fine threads are used for both computational and experimental purposes. Variation of axial forces and frictional torques vs. the frictional coefficients are presented together with other plots showing some characterist of bolt under plastic deformation. Finally, a design and control aid for the tightening(i.e., kind of nomograph) is presented, showing the relationships among the torque factor and frictional coefficients for that particular bolt used in the experiment.

The effect of bond strength of longitudinal reinforcing bars on shear strength of reinforced concrete beams is investigated from the view point of arch and truss actions. Stress fields with bond allow us identify possible failure modes including bond failure of a deep beam as well as a slender beam. The slope angle of diagonal compression fields is interpreted as balanced failures of two components involved for shear transfer.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate of the strength and deformation capacity of metallic dampers with the variable slit shape. For this purpose, 12 metallic damper specimens were prepared and shear testing was performed. According to the test results, the S shaped metallic damper with the strut height of 200mm and angle of $60^{\circ}$ shows better hysteretic performance than any other specimens. By making a comparison between the yield strength in test and the proposed strength formula, test results shows larger yield strength than calculation method.

This study proposed a new yield function considering the spacing ratio of the critical state to predict the undrained shear behavior of anisotropic field ground. We have suggested a nonassociated constitutive model that used a newly modified plastic potential function in order to apply the yield function of the modified Cam-Clay model to the anisotropic consolidation. In this paper, we predicted undrained shear behavior of the remolded weathered mudstone soils in Phohang isotorpically and anisotropically consolidated using the suggested model. To evaluate the reliability of proposed model, we predictied undrained shear behavior of Bankok Clay isotropically, nomally consolidated and Drammen Clay Ko consolidated. The predicted results are consistent with the observed behavior.
The strength of vertical joints of precast concrete large panel structures depends on the many factors, such as the bond strength of grout concrete (or mortar), the interlocking of the shear keys, the dowel action of horizontal bars. Many experimental studies have been conducted to in vestigate the shear strength of the vertical joints. In domestic, a few design formulas to predict shear strength of the vertical joint were proposed by some investigators, but formulas were based on limited experimental results. The objective of this paper is to propose a suitable formula for the shear strength of vertical joints with 94 vertical joints experimental data using the modified Mohr-Coulomb's 4ield theory and regression analysis. From the comparison of the proposed formula with others, it is shown that the proposed formula can be used economically for the design of vertical joints.

The present study is to investigate the ultimate behavior and limit state design of 2-I) R/C structures, with the changing of crack direction, and the yielding of the reinforcing steel bars, and Is to introduce an algorithm for the limit state design and analysis of 2-D R/C structures, directly from the finite element model. For the design of reinforcement in concrete the limit state design equation is incorporated into finite element algorithm to be based on the pointwise elemental ultimate behavior. It is also introduced a simplified nonlinear analysis algorithm for stress-strain relationship of R/C plane stress problem considering the cracking and its rotation in concrete and the yielding of the reinforcing steel bar. The algorithm is incorporated into the nonlinear finite element analysis. The analysis model is compared with the experimental model of R/C shear wall. In a simple design example for a shear wall, the required reinforcement ratios in each finite element is obtained from the limit state design equations.
To investigate the shear strength and hysteretic behavior of SRC column to H steel beam joints, seven cruciform specimens were fabricated and tested. The test specimens showed stable hysteresis behavior with a little pinching. The strength decreased with increase in deflection after the speciemens reached at the maximum strength. The shear strength of panel zones increased with increased in the concrete amount of SRC column sections. The shear strength may conservatively be estimated by the sum of shear yielding strength of steel column web, plastic bending strength of steel column flange and ultimate shear strength of concrete in the panel zone.

In this paper, the vibration control effect of the Exo-type damping system was investigated by applying the Kagome dampers to 15-story and 20-story frame structure apartment. A new Exo-type damping system composed of the dampers and supporting column was proposed in the previous work and numerical analysis were performed to investigate the effects of optimum stiffness ratio between controlled structure and supporting column, the size of damper and yield ratio of the damper. The numerical analysis results of a structure with Exo-type damping system up to the third story showed that the stiffness ratio should be higher than 7.0 and the damper device yield ratio be at least 8.0% ($V_{damper}/V_{base\;shear$) to effectively reduce the base shear and the maximum drift of the uppermost story. When the Exo-type damping system was installed up to the fifth story, the stiffness ratio should be higher than 2.5 and damper device yield ratio needs to be at least 3.5% ($V_{damper}/V_{base\;shear$) for obtaining the target performance.
