The dependence of voltammetric parameters on the pressure for the reduction of Cu(II) in 0.5M KCl aqueous solution has been studied. In this system micro platinum electrode, standard calomel electrode and a helix type of platinum wire were used as the working, the reference and the auxilary electrode, respectively. With increasing the pressure from 1 to 1,800 bars, the half wave potentials of first reduction wave are shifted to the more negative potentials. And the diffusion currents of first and second reduction wave become considerably larger with increase in pressure from 1 to about 1,000 bars but are getting smaller beyond 1,000 bars. The good linear relationships between diffusion current and the concentrations of Cu(II) are established over all pressure range($1{\sim}1,800$ bars). The reversibility of the each reduction step is not changed with increasing pressure.

Electrochemical reduction of thionyl chloride has been carried out at glassy carbon and molybdenum electrodes, the surface of which is modified by binuclear tetradentate schiff base Co(II), Ni(II),Cu(II) and Fe(II) complexes. The catalyst molecules of transition metal(II) complexes were adsorbed on the electrode surface and reduced thionyl chloride resulting in a generation of oxidized catalyst molecules. There was an optimum concentration for each catalyst compound. The catalytic effects of SOCl$_2$ reduction were larger on glassy carbon electrodes compared to molybdenum electrodes and enhancements in reduction current of up to 120${\%}$ at the glassy carbon electrodes. The reduction currents of thionyl chloride were increased and the reduction potentials were shifted to the negative potential when scan rates became faster. The reduction of thionyl chloride was proceed to diffusion controlled reaction.

Determination of iron(II) ion with a perfluorinated sulfonated polymer(nafion)-ethylenediamine(en) modified glassy carbon electrode was studied. It was based on the chemical reactivity of an immobilized layer(nafion-en) to yield complex $[Fe(en)_3]^{+2}$. The oxidation peak potential by differential pulse voltammetry(DPV) was observed at 0.340${\pm}$0.015 V(vs. Ag/AgCl). The linear calibration curve was obtained in iron(II) ion concentration range $5{\times}10^{-6}{\sim}0.2{\times}10^{-3} M(0.28{\sim}11.17\; mg/L)$, and the detection limit(3s) was $1.89{\times}10^{-5}$M(1.056 mg/L).
For the effective design of a beam forming structure of the negative-ion-based neutral beam injector, a computer program based on a particle simulation model is developed for the calculation of charged particle motions in the electrostatic fields. The motions of negative ions inside the acceleration tube of a multiple-aperture triode are computed at finite time steps. The electrostatic potentials are obtained from the Poisson's equation by the finite difference method. The successive overrelaxation method is used to solve the matrix equation. The particle and force weighting methods are used on a cloud-in-cell model. The optimum design of the beam forming structure has been studied by using this computer code for the various conditions of elctrodes. The effects of the acceleration-deceleration gap distance, the thickness of the deceleration electrode and the shape of the acceleration electrode on beam trajectories are exmined to find the minimum beam divergence. Some numerical illustrations are presented for the particle movements at finite time steps in the beam forming tubes. It is found in this particle simulation modelling that the shape of the acceleration electrode is the most significant factor of beam divergence.
An enzyme electrode bound by butyl rubber was newly constructed for the determination of hydrogen peroxide and for the practical application as a biosensor. Then its electrochemical properties were investigated. It produced a hundreds-fold increased signal compared to the plant or animal tissue based biosensor studied previously and could be run at between $0.0{\sim}-1.00\;V$(vs. Ag/AgCl). The relationship between signal and electrode potential was linear in the experimental range of potential. It showed a detection limit of $3.0{\times}10^{-4}\;M$ and a very good linearity of Lineweaver-Burk plot giving the proof of a good enzyme immobilization. Especially, both the reproducibility of signal current due to its high sensitivity and mechanical stability presented a new possibility for the practical use of biosensor bound with butyl rubber.
A stable desalination method of the hardness substance such as $Ca^{2+}$ by controlling the total charge (TC) supplied to the membrane capacitive deionization (MCDI) cell was studied. The adsorption (1.5 V) and desorption (0.0 V) were repeated 30 times while varying the TC in the adsorption process. The concentration and pH of effluent, adsorption and desorption amounts, current densities and cell potentials were analyzed in the desalination process. The maximum allowable charge (MAC) of the carbon electrode used in MCDI cell was measured to be 46 C/g. As a result of operation at TC (40 C/g) below the MAC value, electrode reactions did not occur, resulted in the stable desalination characteristics for a long-term operation. When operating at TCs (50, 60 C/g) above the MAC value, however, the concentration and pH of effluent varied greatly. Also, the scale was formed on the electrode surface due to electrode reactions, and the electric resistance of the cell gradually increased. It was thus concluded that it is possible to remove stably the hardness substance without any electrode reactions by controlling the charge supplied to MCDI cell during the adsorption process.

The effects of electrolyte concentration on the electrochemical properties of Fe4[Fe(CN6)]3(FeHCF) as a novel active material for the electrode of aqueous zinc-ion batteries was investigated. The electrochemical reactions and structural stability of the FeHCF electrode were significantly affected by the electrolyte concentration. In the electrolyte solutions of 1.0-7.0 mol dm-3, the charge-discharge capacities increased with increasing electrolyte concentration, however gradually decreased as the cycle progressed. On the other hand, in the 9.0 mol dm-3 electrolyte solution, the initial capacity was relatively small, however showed good cyclability. Additionally, the FeHCF electrode after five cycles in the former electrolyte solutions, had a change in crystal structure, whereas there was no change in the latter electrolyte solution. This suggests that the performance of the FeHCF electrode is greatly influenced by the hydration structure of zinc ions present in electrolyte solutions.
In the case of driving water electrolysis by receiving surplus electricity from solar and wind power generation, operation and stopping must be repeated according to weather fluctuations. When the PEMWE(Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Water Electrolysis) is driven and stopped, the PEM fuel cell is in the same state as the PEM fuel cell due to the residual hydrogen and oxygen, and the high potential of the water electrolysis formed during operation is highly likely to cause degradation of the electrode and membrane even during stopping. In this study, in order to check how much degradation of the electrode and membrane progresses during the repeated driving/shutdown process of PEM water electrolysis, the performance decrease was measured by changing the number of driving/shutdown for 144 hours. Changes in electrode catalyst active area, hydrogen permeability and fluorine emision rate of membranes were analyzed to measure changes in the properties of electrodes and polymer membranes. Overall, the PEMWE performance decreased as the number of stops increased. When stopped 5 times in 144 hours, the IrOx catalyst activity decreased by more than 30%, and the hydrogen permeability increased by 80%, confirming that both the electrode and the membrane were deteriorated.
Redox complexes to transport electrodes from bioreactors to electrodes are very important part in electrochemical biosensor industry. A novel osmium redox complexes were synthesized by the coordinating pyridine group having different functional group at 4-position with osmium metal. Newly synthesized osmium complexes are described as ${[Os(dme-bpy)}_2{(ap-im)Cl]}^{+/2+}$, ${[Os(dme-bpy)}_2{(ap-im)Cl]}^{+/2+}$, ${[Os(dmo-bpy)}_2{(ap-im)Cl]}^{+/2+}$, ${[Os(dcl-bpy)}_2{(ap-im)Cl]}^{+/2+}$. We have been studied the electrochemical characteristics of these osmium complex with electrochemical techniques such as cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperommetry. Osmium redox complexes were immobilized on the screen printed carbon electrode(SPE) with deposited gold nanoparticles. The electrical signal converts the osmium redox films into an electrocatalyst for glucose oxidation. Each catalytic currents were related with the potentials of osmium complexes.
