  • In this paper. a CLB-based CPLD low power technology mapping algorithm for trade-off is proposed. To perform low power technology mapping for CPLD, a given Boolean network has to be represented to DAG. The proposed algorithm consists of three step. In the first step, TD(Transition Density) calculation have to be Performed. Total power consumption is obtained by calculating switching activity of each nodes in a DAG. In the second step, the feasible clusters are generated by considering the following conditions : the number of output. the number of input and the number of OR-terms for CLB within a CPLD. The common node cluster merging method, the node separation method, and the node duplication method are used to produce the feasible clusters. The proposed algorithm is examined by using benchmarks in SIS. In the case that the number of OR-terms is 5, the experiments results show reduction in the power consumption by 30.73$\%$ comparing with that of TEMPLA, and 17.11$\%$ comparing with that of PLAmap respectively

Allocation processing selected module consider the module calculation after scheduling process for circuit by HDL. Select CPLD for constrain after allocation. A Boolean equation is partitioned for CLB by allocated modules. The proposed binding algorithm is description using optimum CLB within a CPLD consider low power. The proposed algorithm is examined by using 16 bit FIR filter. In the case that applicate the algorithm, the experiments results show reduction in the power consumption by 43% comparing with that of non application algorithm.

  • In this paper, we propose the power-aware test framework for Network-on-Chip, which is based on embedded processor and on-chip network. First, the possibility of using embedded processor and on-chip network isintroduced and evaluated with benchmark system to test the other embeddedcores. And second, a new generation method of test pattern is presented to reduce the power consumption of on-chip network, which is called don't care mapping. The experimental results show that the embedded processor can be executed like the automatic test equipments, and the test time is reduced and the power consumption is reduced up to 8% at the communication components.

  • The advent of deep submicron technologies in the age of portable electronic systems creates a moving target for CAB algorithms, which now need to reduce power as well as delay and area in the existing design methodology. This paper presents a resynthesis algorithm for logic decomposition on mapped circuits. The existing algorithm uses a Huffman encoding, but does not consider glitches and effects on logic depth. The proposed algorithm is to generalize the Huffman encoding algorithm to minimize the switching activity of non-critical subcircuits and to preserve a given logic depth. We show how to obtain a transition-optimum binary tree decomposition for AND tree with zero gate delay. The algorithm is tested using SIS (logic synthesizer) and Level-Map (LUT-based FPGA lower power technology mapper) and shows 58%, 8% reductions on power consumptions, respectively.

  • Bandwidth extension is a technique to improve speech quality and intelligibility, extending from 300-3400 Hz narrowband speech to 50-7000 Hz wideband speech. This paper designs an artificial bandwidth extension (ABE) module embedded in the AMR (adaptive multi-rate) decoder, reducing LPC/LSP analysis and algorithm delay of the ABE module. We also introduce a fast search codebook mapping method for ABE, and design a low power BWE technique based on the AMR decoder. The proposed ABE method reduces the computational complexity and the algorithm delay, respectively, by 28 % and 20 msec, compared to the traditional DTE (decode then extend) method. We also introduce a weighted classified codebook mapping method for constructing the spectral envelope of the wideband speech signal.

  • Increasing the importance of Green IT brings low-power consumption requirements for embedded software into relief. This paper focus on the power analysis techniques of embedded software along with the trend. We survey the existing research on the power analysis techniques performed during the last decade, and find out some features or characteristics from the analysis approaches of those techniques. Also we summarize those characteristics into a systematic model, and then apply the model to embedded software development process using spider diagram. Our suggestion gives such benefits as improving the understanding of power analysis techniques, guiding the choice of an appropriate technique to their Power analysis, and forecasting the direction of technology changes in embedded software power analysis.

  • In this paper, we consider the problem of CLB based CPLD technology mapping for power minimization in combinational circuit. The problem has been previously proved to be NP-hard, and hence we present an efficient heuristic algorithm for it. The main idea of our algorithm is to exploit the "cut enumeration" and "feasible cluster" technique to generate possible mapping solutions for the sub-circuit rooted at each node. However, for the consideration of both run time and memory space, only a fixed-number of solutions are selected and stored by our algorithm. To facilitate the selection process, a method that correctly calculates the estimated power consumption for each mapped sub-circuit is developed. The experimental results show that our approach is shown a decrease of 30.5% compared with DDMAP and that of 15.63% for TEMPLA in the Power consumption.
