  • In this study, the flexural behavior of high strength concrete members with different curing condition of 90 MPa of compressive strength was investigated. Experimental parameters included normal and low temperature curing conditions, tensile steel amount and concrete compressive strength. 8 beam members were fabricated and flexural tests were carried out. Crack spacing, load-deflection relation, load-strain relation and ductility index were determined. Experimental results show that as the amount of rebar increases, the number of cracks increases and the crack spacing decreases. The higher the concrete strength, the smaller the number of cracks, but the effect is significantly smaller than the amount of rebar. As a result of comparison with the proposed average crack spacing in the design criteria, the experimental results are slightly larger than the results of the proposed formula, but the proposed formula does not reflect the concrete strength and curing conditions. The ductility index of normal temperature cured members was 3.36~6.74 and the ductility index of low temperature cured members was 1.51~2.82. The behavior of low temperature cured members was found to be lower than that of normal temperature cured members. As a result of comparing the ductility index with the existing studies similar to the experimental members, the ductility index of the high strength concrete member was larger than the ductility index of the ordinary strength concrete of the previous study. Further research is needed to understand more specific results.

  • In order to examine the possibility of practical use of aluminate cement concrete at low-temperature environment with insulation method, an experimental studies on flowability, setting time, freezing temperature, size variation and compressive strength of the mortar at low-temperature were conducted. Compressive strength was increased in use of CSA, aluminate cement with gypsum. Workability and physical properties were improved by using aluminate cement and gypsum. In addition, freezing resistance and physical properties were improved by applying the insulation curing method. Especially, when alumina cement and gypsum were used together, the insulation curing method was more effective in improving the compressive strength.

  • In this paper, insulating effect and strength development of concrete under low temperature are reported varying curing sheets. According to test results, in temperature -5$^{\circ}$C concrete subject to exposure and air cap condition, result in a frost damage at early age by a fall of below zero temperature. Mean while, the combination of PE film and non-woven fabric maintained around 3 $^{\circ}$C within first 24 hours since placement. For double bubble sheets, concrete temperature maintained above 7$^{\circ}$C due to its excellent heat insulating capability. As a result of core strength test, strength of specimens cured with viny + non-woven fabric and double bubble sheets had higher strength than strength of other specimens due to good heat insulation effect at early age.

  • This study is to investigate the temperature curve and development of compressive strength due to the curing conditions and to evaluate the optimum curing condition of test specimens showing the same development of strength to that of real structures in cold weather. The results of temperature curve with curing conditions in mock-up tests showed the trend of decrease plain concrete with insulation form, plain concrete with heating, concrete with accelerator for freeze protection, and control concrete in turn. The strength development of plain concrete of inside and outside of shelter showed the very slow strength gains due to early freezing, but that of concrete with accelerator for freeze protection showed the gradual increase of strength with time. From this, it is clear that accelerator for freeze protection has the effects of reducing the freezing temperature and accelerating the hardening under low temperature. Strength test results of small specimens embedded in members and located in insulation boxes at the site are similar to that of cores drilled from the members at the same ages, thus it is clear that these curing methods are effective for evaluation in-place concrete strength.

  • In recent years, the use of high-strength grout has gained popularity in offshore wind power generation complexes for facility foundations and bridges. These marine wind farms require support for horizontal loads from wind and waves. To ensure the strength of the grout produced in environments similar to the actual placing site, this study investigated the curing of high-strength grout discharged through pump pressure in various environments, and examined the difference in strength according to different variables. Compressive strength measurements revealed that the core specimen collected from the bottom (3cm) and uppermost (50cm) of the specimen exhibited lower strength compared to other height specimens, while the core specimen obtained from the corner exhibited lower strength compared to the center. These findings suggest that the strength difference between the center and the corner is more pronounced when curing at low temperatures. This effect is greater than the strength reduction that typically occurs during low-temperature curing, and thus, necessitates careful attention in similar construction environments.

  • In order to determine the variability of environmental characteristics of lightweight air-foamed soil using marine clay according to freezing-thawing and soaking conditions, unconfined compressive strength of the lightweight air-foamed soil samples made by changing the amount of cement under curing conditions of outdoor low temperature, underground or indoor wetting were observed. Compressive strength was not increased under freezing-thawing (temperature range of $-9.1^{\circ}C{\sim}17.2^{\circ}C$) regardless of the amount of cement but the more cement using, it was increased rapidly by underground curing conditions within 30 cm beneath ground level. Therefore, it is necessary to install insulation layer cutting off exterior cold air after construction of lightweight air-foamed soil in condition of freezing-thawing. Bulk density was increased too small under the long-time soaking condition, it tended to decrease rapidly when samples were dried up and had below 6% of water contents. But variability of compressive strength and bulk density was very small for preventing drying and keeping its wet state. The lightweight air-foamed soil that installed beneath ground water level or covered by soil can be evaluated as a long-term reliable construction material.

  • The grouting method, which can be used to effectively improve small areas within a short amount of time, may have different injection effects depending on the ground conditions and the levels of a water table. In particular, for ground with a relatively large permeability, the strength of the ground and the water proof ability can decrease over time due to the leaching process. To solve this problem, a "self-healing smart grouting (SSG) method", which was designed to maintain the initial strength of the ground by minimizing the leaching process, was developed recently. In this study, uniaxial compression tests were carried out on SSG samples to understand the strength of SSG over curing time where two different curing temperatures have been applied for comparison. The uniaxial compression strength of SSG was further compared with the samples prepared using conventional methods (LW and SGR). The test results showed that the uniaxial compression strength of SSG was higher at both high and low curing temperatures compared to that of the samples prepared using conventional methods. The initial strength of SSG was also relatively higher.
