This study was carried out to evaluate the status of oral health in physically or mentally handicapped students. The status of oral health in 597 handicapped students of six special education institutes and 731 normal students in Chonbuk province were inspected by a dental hygienist from August to November of 1999. 1) The DT index(Decayed Teeth index) was significantly higher in handicapped students comparing with those of normal students. The proportions of children having gingivitis and malocclusion were also significantly higher in handicapped group (p<0.01). 2) The incidences of dental caries, gingivitis and malocclusion were significantly higher in mentally retarded students comparing with those of physical or sensory impairment groups(p<0.01). 3) Handicapped students participating in the regular school teeth-control program showed significantly low incidences of gingivitis and malocclusion comparing with non-participants. However, dental caries had no relationships with teeth control program. There were no differences between commuting and domitory-resident students in the incidences of dental caries, gingivitis and malocclusion.

This research examined the actual state of deaf students' use of Internet games by administering an Internet game addiction scale test to 201 deaf students from elementary, middle or high schools. The research findings indicated that middle and high school students were more likely to be left at home after school without their protector's presence than elementary school students. The average daily sleep hours of deaf students were similar to or fewer than those of general students, and the amount of their Internet access time and the one spent on Internet games were greater than that of non disabled students. As for the Internet user types, more male deaf students were categorized into risk user type than female deaf students, and the number of deaf risk user type students was significantly higher than that of non disabled risk user type students. The results suggest that the on-going national research on the actual state of Internet game users should include disabled students and that there is an urgent need to develop prevention programs of computer games overindulgence.

The purpose of this study was to verify the construct validity of self-evaluated writing scale for students with disabilities who had difficulties in writing. After interpreting the Here's How I Write scale developed by Goldstand et al. (2013), we administered Delphi survey to 40 special education professionals, calculated the content validity ratio and decided the final scale of 21 questions applicable to Korea. Additionally, we carried out the scale to 350 disabled and normal students for testing construct validity. The main results are as follows: For both students with disabilities and without disabilities, the overall internal consistency of scale are higher than .89 and the internal consistency of factors of scale are higher than .66. The confirmative factor analysis using AMOS 21.0 and SPSS 21.0 to verify construct validity showed fit index at relatively satisfactory level for students with disabilities and without disabilities. Furthermore, while there were relatively strong convergent validity and discriminant validity in the sub-factors of scale for students without disabilities, the level of convergent validity and discriminant validity were relatively lower for students with disabilities.
The subjects of this study were 10th grade students and 10 non-disabled students. For statistical programs, data were processed using SPSS Windows 25.0, and the statistical method used in the study was to calculate the mean and standard deviation of physical fitness factors and body mass index to determine the health and obesity of students with intellectual disabilities and non-disabled students. In addition, this study was conducted using the independent sample t-test to identify the differences in health fitness and obesity between intellectually and non-disabled students. The statistical significance level of the study was set at p <.05, and the results of the study showed that there were statistically significant differences in cardiopulmonary endurance, flexibility, muscle strength, muscle endurance, and responsiveness between middle and high school students with intellectual disabilities and non-disabled students. In the case of obesity, intellectually and non-disabled students were significantly different.
