  • Recently, as sense of crisis about human survival has become serious due to worsening environmental pollution, people have begun to pay attention to their health more and more. In order to improve health conditions, multifarious approaches have been made from such diverse sectors as foods, clothing, medical sciences and environment, and particularly space environmental matters of housing cannot but be a matter of great concern to maintain and enhance the health of the residents. However, scarcely empirical studies have been made from the viewpoint of the users regarding the characteristics of Modern Hanok that has been appreciated as an example of a representative healthy housing. Therefore, this study aimed to study the recognition of apartment residents concerning the health characteristics of Modern Hanok. The health characteristics of Modern Hanok analyzed through literature investigation were classified into three categories of physical, mental and social health, and based on these characteristics, survey was made through web-survey upon 200 apartment residents who have interest in Hanok but have not lived or stayed in Hanok yet. The survey result revealed that about 60% of the respondents have recognized the health characteristics of Modern Hanok, and the respondents recognizing this fact expected that on a comparatively low average level of 2.09 out of 5 the health characteristics of Modern Hanok would affect their health. At current housing market where users' viewpoint and roles function more importantly than ever, the result of this study will contribute to enhance the comprehensive understanding about the health characteristics of Modern Hanok through empirical study on what the users think and expect.

  • To identify and evaluate the dichlorobenzidine(DCB)-DNA adducts in liver cell and bladder epithelial cells by $^{32}$ P-postlabeling and GC/MS-SIM, we orally exposed the dichlorobenzidine (20mg/kh body wt.,/day)to male sprague-dawley rats for 14 days. Two kinds of DCB-DNA adduct were found at the same site of thin layer chromatogram of $^{32}$ P-postlabeling method in liver cells and bladder epithelial cells. In liver cells, relative adduct labeling(RAL) $\times$ 10$^{12}$ of DCB-DNA adduct A1 were 34.1$\pm$3.71 and 69.9$\pm$5.02, that of adduct A2 were 74.1$\pm$10.1 and 105.1$\pm$10.1 on 10 and 14 days after treatment, respectively. And in bladder epithelia cells, RAL $\times$ 10$^{12}$ of DCB-DNA adduct A1 were 5.92$\pm$1.60 and 15.9$\pm$1.31, that of adduct A2 were 9,81$\pm$2.81 and 22.8$\pm$1.79 on 10 and 14 days after treatment, respectively. DCB metabolites formed DNA adducts were monoacetyl-dichlorobenzidine(acDCB) and diacety1-dichlorobenzidine(di-acDCB), which was identify by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry-scan ionization mode(GC/MS-SIM), along with hydrolysis, extraction and TFA(trifluoroacetyl anhyride) derivatization with DCB-DNA adducts isolated from live cells and bladder epithelial cells. The base peak of acDCB were 252 and 294 m/z, and that of di-acDCB were 252, 294 and 336 m/z. In conclusion, the exposed DCB formed two kinds of DCB-DNA adduct, the proximate materials of that were acDCB and di-acDCB in liver and bladder epithlial cells. And the above GC/MS-SIM method was found the DCB-DNA adducts could be monitoring by gas chromatography.

  • Falls are accidents that can happen throughout the overall period of human life and their results are very fatal and have a serious negative effect on individuals and society. In case of aged people, even though they live in places where dangerous risks of falls are prevalent, they cannot improve their residential environment for themselves. Therefore, this study intends to prove the effects of fall prevention education by providing fall prevention education to spatial design majoring students in order to improve their perception about the falls and fall prevention environments and their social responsibility as a designer. This study was designed as Quasi-experimental study, and 121 beginners to spatial design received the education. As a result, the effects of education was proved by showing improvements on their awareness about the fall risks, the importance of fall prevention environment and social responsibility as a designer. In addition, after the education students could know more about spatial elements for fall prevention and they specified the details of important environmental factors for fall prevention. Generally, fall prevention education has been given to aged people and this is a first example of fall prevention education that was given to younger generation. It is meaningful that fall prevention education has changed the awareness of the students to help them work in spatial environment design with a strong sense of responsibility as an expert of spatial designer in future.

  • Since aging has become one of most hot and serious issues in the whole global world, universal design as a strategic concept to enable the elderly age in place has received much attention and its importance is getting recognized. Japan has undergone the Aging phenomenon much earlier than Korea and other countries. During that time, through much trials and errors, it accumulated the wisdoms and techniques to precede aging friendly environment and products. Therefore current Japan house is a comprehensive setting which embraces lots of universal design features that has a valuable implication for Korean development that faces fast aging future. The purpose of this study was to delineate characteristics of universal design features appeared in Japanese Model houses. One site of housing park in the city where various model houses of representative housing construction companies was selected as a cluster area for data collecting. Data were collected mainly through field survey at the housing park of Tokyo during November, 2006, and additional data were collected through website and company information of relevant company. Universal design features were extracted for 17 houses of the housing park and sorted and analyzed according to the analysis frame. The frame were made using 2 major clusters; space area, and 8 universal design principle. Results showed a range of universal design feature and its detail universal design principle satisfied. The 8 principle currently developed became to house realistic practical examples and theory became proved its impractical power. The academic, educational and industrial implication were documented.

  • A total of 301 samples of bovine liver, spleen and omasum were collected from butchers and restaurants in Gwangju, Korea during 2012 and all samples were subjected to bacteriological examination and antibiotic residues. Also, this study was performed to survey the consciousness for hygiene of livestock workers who are handling bovine by-products in Gwangju. The detection rate of aerobic plate count (APC) was higher in summer than in other seasons in all by-products (P=0.000). The detection rate of E. coli count was lower in the liver than the spleen and omasum (P=0.000). Twenty four of the samples (8.0%) were contaminated with S. aureus while one spleen sample (0.3%) was contaminated with L. monocytogenes and finally 10 (3.3%) of the liver and omasum samples were contaminated with Cl. perfringens. Five of the twenty-four S. aureus isolates harbored enterotoxin gene. However, the cpe gene of Cl. perfingens was not detected among any of the 10 isolates. Antibiotic residues were not detected in the liver samples. The consciousness survey's results showed that most of them (58.8%) were safe.
