In most of hearing aids, amplification algorithms are used to compensate hearing loss, noise and feedback reduction algorithms are used and to increase the perception of speeches contrast enhancement algorithms are used. However, acoustic masking effect is occurred between formants if contrast is enhanced excessively. To confirm the masking effect in speeches, the experiment are composed of 6 tests; test pure tone test, speech reception test, word recognition test, pure tone masking test, formant pure tone masking test and speech masking test, and for objective evaluation, LLR is introduced. As a result of normal hearing subjects and hearing impaired subjects, more making is occurred in hearing impaired subjects than normal hearing subjects when using pure tone, and in the speech masking test, speech reception is also lower in hearing impaired subjects than in normal hearing subjects. This means that acoustic masking effect rather than distortion influences speech perception. So it is required to check the characteristics of masking effect before wearing a hearing aid and to apply this characteristics to fitting curve.

Pyroelectric characteristics such as voltage responsivity, noise equivalent power and detectivity are modeled 3-dimensionaly considering th interaction of each parameters. Also, the circuit is designed to set up the frequency band width and the signal amplification of the pyroelectric IR sensor. The case of low frequency region shows that the voltage response increases with the independence of the sensor area as the thickness decreases. In the high frequency region, it is found that the voltage response with the load resistor of 20$G{\Omega}$ increases with the independence of the sensor thickness as the sensor area decreases. In the low frequency region, the detectivity becomes excellent at th load resistor of 20$G{\Omega}$, the sensor area larger than $4{\times}10^{-10}m^2$ and the sensor thickness thinner than $1{\times}10^{-5}m$, while, in the high frequency region, it shows high value at the sensor thickness thinner than $1{\times}10^{-5}m$ and the sensor area smaller than $2{\times}10^{-10}m^2$ with the independence of the load resistor. In the circuit design, quasi-boot-strap circuit is employed, in which a single op-amp is connected to the drain of JFFT. Desirable frequency band width, amplification rate and the remarkable drop of noise of about 56% from that of conventional circuits with double op-amps are obtained.

For the reduction of common-mode noise level in Indirect-contact ECG (IDC-ECG) measurement a driven-right-leg grounding method was a lied to the IDC-ECG. Because the IDC-ECG does not require any direct contact between the electrodes and the human skin. it is adequate for un-constraining long-term ECG measurement at home and its various applications are now under development. However, larger 60 Hz noise induced by power line a ears in IDC-BCG than in conventional ECG, that is a restriction of IDC-ECG a application. In this study, the driven-right-leg ground which has been used in conventional direct-contact ECG, was adapted to the IDC-ECG measurement by feedback of the inversion of amplified common-mode noise to the body through the conductive fertile laid on the chair seat By this study, indirect-contact driven-right-leg ground was developed and it was shown to work stably. It was shown that the level of 60Hz power line noise was reduced to about -40 dB when the driven-right-leg gain was 1000. This study shows that we can extend the upper limit of the frequency band of IDC-ECG to 100Hz from 30Hz which is conventional upper limit in IDC-ECG, and we can raise the ground impedance between the body and conductive textile. So it is expected that the application area of the IDC-ECG will be extended by the results of this study.

A CMOS ReadOut Integrated Circuit (ROlC) for InfraRed Focal Plane Array (IRFPA) detector is presented, which is a key component in uncooled thermal imaging systems. The ROIC reads out signals from $64\times64$ Barium Strontium Titanate (BST) infrared detector array, then outputs pixel signals sequentially after amplifying and noise filtering. Various design requirements and constraints have been considered including impedance matching, low noise, low power dissipation and small detector pitch. For impedance matching between detector and pre~amplifier, a new circuit based on MOS diode structure is devised, which can be easily implemented using standard CMOS process. Also, tunable low pass filter with single~pole is used to suppress high frequency noise. In additions, a clamping circuit is adopted to enhance the signal~to-noise ratio of the readout output signals. The $64\times64$ IRFPA ROIC is designed using $0.65-\mu\textrm{m}$ 2P3M (double poly, tripple metal) N~Well CMOS process. The core part of the chip contains 62,000 devices including transistors, capacitors and resistors on an area of about $6.3-mm\times6.7-mm$.

A novel post-linearization technique is proposed for CMOS cascode low noise amplifier (LNA). The technique uses dual common gate FETs one of which delivers the linear currents to a load and the other one sinks the $3^{rd}$ order intermodulation currents of output currents from the common source FET. Selective current branching can be implemented in $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process by using a thick oxide FET as an IM3 sinker with a normal FET as a linear current buffer. A differential LNA adopting this technique is designed at 2.14GHz. The measurement results show 11dBm IIP3, 15.5dB power gain and 2.85dB noise figure consuming 12.4mA from 1.8V power supply. Compared with the LNA with turning off the IM3 sinker, the proposed technique improves the IIP3 by 7.5 dB.

In this study, we implemented an unconstraint ECG monitoring system on a chair. Nowadays, modern people spend most of their time sitting on the chair. Therefore, it is necessary to have an unconstraint ECG monitoring system that can be used for a long time. The implemented system can perform measurement even with clothes on and it has great advantage on motion artifacts. A pair of unconstraint electrodes are placed on the back of the chair. Amplifier and filters are designed to remove motion artifacts, The baseline noise and power line noise are filtered and very low level of bio-signal is amplified to give a final measurement. Control unit and wireless transmission unit are implemented. Analog signal is converted into digital signal and transmits biological signal to the PC and the smart phone. Therefore continuous ECG monitoring in daily life is made possible. A comparison experiment between Ag / AgCl electrode and unconstraint electrode is conducted to evaluate the performance of the implemented system. As a result, we confirm our unconstraint system can be used for daily life ECG monitoring.

In this paper, a 4-wavelength optical transceiver system is designed and implemented by using TFF (thin film filter) type OADMs (optical add-drop multiplexers). In this new system, the wavelengths of 1510 nm and 1530 nm are used for uploa and download signals, respectively, as well as the wavelengths of 1550 nm and 1310 nm which have been utilized in a 2-wavelength optical transceiver systems. The 4-wavelength optical module show pass characteristics of -1.6 dBm, -1.7 dBm, -5.6 dBm, -5.8dBm for 1510nm, 1530 nm, 1550 nm, 1570 nm, respectively, with 1.2 dBm of input laser power. The isolation for characteristics of the optical module for all the wavelengths are less than -40dB, which is very acceptable for filed requirements.

In this paper, adaptive unsharp masking using bilateral filter, edge-preserving smoothing filter is proposed to reduce the overshoot and jagging artifact in sharpening images. Previous image enhancement methods including unsharp masking(UM) can emphasize high-frequency details strongly, but often cause several artifacts such as overshooting, noise, jagging and so on. Proposed image enhancement method preserves edges well because of using bilateral filter and sensitively controls a weight according to edge's directions. Therefore, it enhances sharpness and effectively reduces overshoot and jagging artifacts. Simulation results comparing output of previous AUM with proposed method show that proposed algorithm makes images properly enhanced, and we know that overshoot and jagging artifacts are many reduced.

In this paper, the transmit-receive module for military seekers has been designed and fabricated in 35 GHz. To increase the performance of substrates and high integration of circuits in millimeter-wave band, a 4-layer LCP(Liquid Crystal Polymer) substrate was developed. This substrate was implemented with three FCCL substrates and two adhesive layers, and a process using the difference in melting point between the substrates was used for lamination. Using a strip line and a microstrip line was confirmed by the transmission loss along the length of the substrate, and the performance of LCP substrates was validated with a power divider in 35 GHz. After confirming the performance of individual blocks such as power amplifier and low noise amplifier, a single channel Ka-band transmission/reception module was developed using a 4-layer liquid crystal polymer substrate. The transmit power of this module has above 1.1W in pulse duty 10% and has an output power of 1.1W and it has receive noise figure less than 8.5 dB and receive gain more than 17.6 dB.
