Development of Risk Society Education Program (RSEP) in Connection with Science Education (과학교육과 연계한 위험사회 교육프로그램 개발)

  • This study developed a risk society education program for undergraduate students to help them understand the epistemological uncertainty of risk caused by COVID-19. And it was applied to science-related classes of undergraduate students, and the purpose was to examine the degree of understanding and thoughts of undergraduate students about the risk society through science writing. As a result, it was found that the degree of understanding of the risk society was very high in all participating students regardless of their majors in science, engineering, humanities and social sciences. In addition, it was analyzed that the risk society education program helped undergraduate students to resolve the epistemological uncertainty of the risk of COVID-19 and to have an attitude to overcome the the difficult mind due to the COVID-19 distancing. The results of this study suggest that risk society education is necessary for future generations living in an era of risk of climate change and pandemic that exceeds the prediction range of science and technology in science education.

Robust AAM-based Face Tracking with Occlusion Using SIFT Features (SIFT 특징을 이용하여 중첩상황에 강인한 AAM 기반 얼굴 추적)

  • Face tracking is to estimate the motion of a non-rigid face together with a rigid head in 3D, and plays important roles in higher levels such as face/facial expression/emotion recognition. In this paper, we propose an AAM-based face tracking algorithm. AAM has been widely used to segment and track deformable objects, but there are still many difficulties. Particularly, it often tends to diverge or converge into local minima when a target object is self-occluded, partially or completely occluded. To address this problem, we utilize the scale invariant feature transform (SIFT). SIFT is an effective method for self and partial occlusion because it is able to find correspondence between feature points under partial loss. And it enables an AAM to continue to track without re-initialization in complete occlusions thanks to the good performance of global matching. We also register and use the SIFT features extracted from multi-view face images during tracking to effectively track a face across large pose changes. Our proposed algorithm is validated by comparing other algorithms under the above 3 kinds of occlusions.

Human Body Tracking and Pose Estimation Using CamShift Based on Kalman Filter and Weighted Search Windows (칼만 필터와 가중탐색영역 CAMShift를 이용한 휴먼 바디 트래킹 및 자세추정)

  • In this paper, we propose Modified Multi CAMShift Algorithm based on Kalman filter and Weighted Search Windows(KWMCAMShift) that extracts skin color area and tracks several human body parts for real-time human tracking system. We propose modified CAMShift algorithm that generates background model, extracts skin area of hands and head, and tracks the body parts. Kalman filter stabilizes tracking search window of skin area due to changing skin area in consecutive frames. Each occlusion areas is avoided by using weighted window of non-search areas and main-search area. And shadows are eliminated from background model and intensity of shadow. The proposed KWMCAMShift algorithm can estimate human pose in real-time and achieves 96.82% accuracy even in the case of occlusions.

  • 'Gesture' except for voice is the most intuitive means of communication. Thus, many researches on how to control computer using gesture are in progress. User detection and tracking in these studies is one of the most important processes. Conventional 2D object detection and tracking methods are sensitive to changes in the environment or lights, and a mix of 2D and 3D information methods has the disadvantage of a lot of computational complexity. In addition, using conventional 3D information methods can not segment similar depth object. In this paper, we propose object detection and tracking method using Depth Projection Map that is the cumulative value of the depth and motion information. Simulation results show that our method is robust to changes in lighting or environment, and has faster operation speed, and can work well for detection and tracking of similar depth objects.

  • One of the most important elements in satellite attitude control is sensor technology. Generally, inertial sensors introduce drift and noise which cause continuous errors. Absolute reference is needed to eliminate the problem of the inertial sensors. Star trackers are used primarily for such a purpose. There has been relatively less research effort or ground feasibility test experience on star trackers in the domestic side despite the importance of the associated technologies. In this paper, we re-introduce the basic concept of a star tracker and present the S/W simulator for the star tracker. The star simulator may be used ground test of a star tracker for the basic functioning test or the whole spacecraft test with the star tracker assembled.

  • James Cameron's Avatar was a stunning success for digital characters. Digital animation character creation was not suddenly enabled by visual technology, rather it was a result of numerous attempts of combining animation and live action film with the help of technology advancement. Two pioneers in this field are James Cameron and Robert Zemeckis. Although continuous interest and research in visual technology existed, the two directors differed in how they viewed the use of technology. The difference is demonstrated in their two recent movies which will be covered in details. How these two directors differed in their approach remains a topic of study for us who continuously are exposed on advance visual technology and our reaction to the changing nature of the industry.

  • This study analyzed the effect of tax account office female workers' education and training on job performance. The study results showed that having active attitude after training, appropriacy of educational facilities, environment and time, helpfulness on improving job-related knowledge affected workplace satisfaction, appropriacy of educational facilities and environment affected job responsiveness. appropriacy of training time, helpfulness on one's duties, personal growth and improving job-related knowledge, having active attitude after training affected self-development effort. Consequently, adequacy and helpfulness of education and training significantly affected job performance. This study provided implications for analyzing the effect of the recognition of education and training on enhancing job performance in tax accounting industry.

Real-time 3D Pose Estimation of Both Human Hands via RGB-Depth Camera and Deep Convolutional Neural Networks (RGB-Depth 카메라와 Deep Convolution Neural Networks 기반의 실시간 사람 양손 3D 포즈 추정)

  • 3D 손 포즈 추정(Hand Pose Estimation, HPE)은 스마트 인간 컴퓨터 인터페이스를 위해서 중요한 기술이다. 이 연구에서는 딥러닝 방법을 기반으로 하여 단일 RGB-Depth 카메라로 촬영한 양손의 3D 손 자세를 실시간으로 인식하는 손 포즈 추정 시스템을 제시한다. 손 포즈 추정 시스템은 4단계로 구성된다. 첫째, Skin Detection 및 Depth cutting 알고리즘을 사용하여 양손을 RGB와 깊이 영상에서 감지하고 추출한다. 둘째, Convolutional Neural Network(CNN) Classifier는 오른손과 왼손을 구별하는데 사용된다. CNN Classifier 는 3개의 convolution layer와 2개의 Fully-Connected Layer로 구성되어 있으며, 추출된 깊이 영상을 입력으로 사용한다. 셋째, 학습된 CNN regressor는 추출된 왼쪽 및 오른쪽 손의 깊이 영상에서 손 관절을 추정하기 위해 다수의 Convolutional Layers, Pooling Layers, Fully Connected Layers로 구성된다. CNN classifier와 regressor는 22,000개 깊이 영상 데이터셋으로 학습된다. 마지막으로, 각 손의 3D 손 자세는 추정된 손 관절 정보로부터 재구성된다. 테스트 결과, CNN classifier는 오른쪽 손과 왼쪽 손을 96.9%의 정확도로 구별할 수 있으며, CNN regressor는 형균 8.48mm의 오차 범위로 3D 손 관절 정보를 추정할 수 있다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 손 포즈 추정 시스템은 가상 현실(virtual reality, VR), 증강 현실(Augmented Reality, AR) 및 융합 현실 (Mixed Reality, MR) 응용 프로그램을 포함한 다양한 응용 분야에서 사용할 수 있다.

Implementation of a Helmet Azimuth Tracking System in the Vehicle (이동체 내의 헬멧 방위각 추적 시스템 구현)

  • It is important to secure the driver's external field view in armored vehicles surrounded by iron armor for preparation for the enemy's firepower. For this purpose, a 360 degree rotatable surveillance camera is mounted on the vehicle. In this case, the key idea is to recognize the head of the driver wearing a helmet so that the external camera rotated in exactly the same direction. In this paper, we introduce a method that uses a MEMS-based AHRS sensor and a illuminance sensor to compensate for the disadvantages of the existing optical method and implements it with low cost. The key idea is to set the direction of the camera by using the difference between the Euler angles detected by two sensors mounted on the camera and the helmet, and to adjust the direction with illuminance sensor from time to time to remove the drift error of sensors. The implemented prototype will show the camera's direction matches exactly in driver's one.

Awareness and Needs of Original Inhabitants on Urban to Rural Migration (귀농귀촌에 대한 원주민의 인식과 욕구)

  • The purpose of this study is to observe the awareness and needs of original inhabitants on urban to rural migration and propose public projects with a consideration of their stance based on the results. To comprehend their awareness and needs on urban to rural migration through their experience related to it, focus group interview was done and three categories were identified as a result, which are 'relative deprivation', 'limitations and difficulties of urban to rural migration', and 'plans for successful settlement'. First, the original inhabitants were discontent towards the government policies related to urban to rural migration and migrant's behaviors seemed to form negative perception on it. Second, financial difficulty and trouble in stable crop cultivation and acquirement of farming techniques were identified as limitations and difficulties of urban to rural migration. Third, the original inhabitants recognized the need of direct communication between original inhabitants and migrants and activation of meetings for exchange of information to positive relationship between the two groups and migrants should have proper attitude and effort to learn the rural culture for interaction and cooperation. Fourth, there's in need for an institution, which serves as a focal point that provides information and support urban to rural migration. Fifth, successful plans for settlements of migrants thought by the original inhabitants were found. Sixth, there's a need for the original inhabitants to play the role of a mentor to the migrants for their settlement and to promote positive relationship between them.
