  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of reading on self-efficacy and multicultural acceptance. The Korean Education and Employment Pannel II data were used for the analysis. Through analyzing the data with latent growth model, the growth trajectories for reading, self-efficacy, and multicultural acceptance were identified, and the relationship between three variances were analyzed using multi-variate latent growth model. As results, reading books, self-efficacy, and multicultural acceptance were decreased, as times go by. Next, the intercept of reading was postively related with self-efficacy and multicultural acceptance. Finally, self-efficacy mediated between the intercept of reading and the multicultural acceptance, and it's statistically significant.

  • This research aimed to investigate the relations of perfectionism and multicultural attitude upon a premise that sub-factors of the perfectionism : self-oriented perfectionism, other-oriented perfectionism and socially-prescribed perfectionism are related to multicultural attitude and to examine the moderation effect of self-acceptance on the relation between perfectionism and multicultural attitude. The questionnaires designed to measure multidimensional perfectionism, unconditional self-acceptance and multicultural attitude were administered to 258 office workers in Seoul and Gyeoggi-Do. The results from correlation analysis and regression analysis were as followed. First, sub-factors of the perfectionism was partially associated with sub-factors of multicultural attitude. In particular two sub-factors of the perfectionism : 'self-oriented perfectionism', 'other-oriented perfectionism' yielded effect on multicultural attitude, controlling the effects of other subscales. Second, unconditional self-acceptance moderated the relation between 'self oriented perfectionism' and sub-factor of the multicultural attitude : 'recognizing difference'. And unconditional self-acceptance moderated the relation between 'socially prescribed perfectionism' and sub-factors of the multicultural attitude : 'recognizing difference', 'openness and acceptance'. This present findings not only extend understandings about relationship between perfectionism and multicultural attitude by examining self-concept : unconditional self-acceptance but also provide that it isn't helpful that further support and rationale for unconditional self-acceptance as intervention for targets to focus in counseling process for those who suffer from perfectionism.

Elementary school students' self-esteem is closely related with accepting themselves as they are. For this reason, the contents of this study were consisted of stability, self-understanding, self-acceptance, self-respect, personal relationships. Three experts accomplished program structure and contents design performed by two tests on validity. The need-survey for this was based on the participants who were 93 elementary school students and 32 elementary school teachers. Also, this program was designed in 3 steps of observation, conversion and relation-orientation. The contents of these steps are related with this program's propriety. This program has a little weakness in behavioristic sides because it concentrated on cognitive and affective aspect for the self-esteem development of elementary school students.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of mother's acceptance parenting attitude and optimism on children's self-regulation including cognitive, emotional, and behavioral regulation. Methods: The subjects were 361 3, 4, 5 - year - old children and their mothers who attended to the early childhood education institutions. One-way ANOVA was conducted to find out age differences in self-regulation. The regression analysis were conducted to find out whether the mother's optimism could predict their children's self-regulation. The stepwise regression analysis were conducted to find out whether the mother's acceptance parenting attitude could predict their children's self-regulation. Results: As for the self-regulation, there were significant age differences in the cognitve regulation and the behavioral regulation, but not in the emotional regulation. It implies that the abilities of cognitive and behavioral regulation increase as the age level goes up. As for the relations between mother's optimism and their children's self-regulation, only the permanence factor of the mother's optimism predicted children's cognitive, emotional, and behavioral regulation. As for the relations between mother's acceptance parenting attitude and their children's self-regulation, two components of mother's acceptance parenting attitude (unconditionally love & right) could predict children's cognitive, emotional, and behavioral regulation. The component of unique could predict the cognitive and emotional regulation. Conclusion/Implications: These results suggest that mother's optimism and acceptance parenting attitude positively affect on the development of self-regulation ability in children.

  • This study aimed to examine the effects of songwriting on the self-acceptance of adolescent in palliative care. Three participants were recruited from a university hospital in an urban area in South Korea. The songwriting intervention was conducted in six sessions, and each session was composed of an introduction, song writing and wrap-up. Participants were asked to complete the Unconditional Self-Acceptance Questionnaire (USAQ) before and after the intervention. Their verbal expressions and written song lyrics observed during the intervention were also measured. The results showed that the USAQ scores increased after the intervention, indicating the improvement in their acceptance of the self without judgement or high reactivity to feedback. In addition, the participants exhibited greater recognition of their emotions and acceptance of themselves as they are. They were also better able to discover internal resources and psychological competence. The participants reported that they could more freely express their emotions through song writing and that recording the songs they created was a means of communicating their feelings to others. Based on this study, it is expected that adolescents in palliative care will be able to experience self-acceptance through such brief song writing interventions.

  • Mobile web browsing services that bring the full PC browsing experience to customer's mobile handset have been emerged. This study is to investigate the intention to use mobile web browsing based on Technology Acceptance Model(TAM) which has been widely used to explain and predict the IT acceptance and incorporated with self-efficacy which was identified as an important determinant of user's new technology adoption in recent literature on technology acceptance. Specifically, from a theoretical perspective, this study not only clarifies mobile self-efficacy, but also develops an instrument to measure the concept of mobile self-efficacy. The results indicate that both computer self-efficacy and mobile self-efficacy directly influence perceived ease of use, and that perceived ease of use enhance perceived usefulness. And the findings indicate that perceived ease of use and usefulness have direct effects on attitude and then it is positively associated with intention to use mobile web browsing. Therefore, the findings imply that mobile self-efficacy can be employed as an important variable in examining user's intention for various mobile services to come in future.

  • The purpose of the study is to examine a structural relationship among mobile self-efficacy, mobility, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and intention to use of a mobile learning service using technology acceptance model. The result revealed that mobile self-efficacy, mobility had a direct effect on perceived ease of use. Second, mobile self-efficacy, mobility, perceived ease of use had a direct effect on perceived usefulness. Third, mobile self-efficacy, mobility, perceived usefulness had a direct effect on intention to use of a mobile learning service. However, perceived ease of use did not have a effect on behavioral intention of mobile learning service.

  • The hypothesis of this study is that change acceptance and work adaptation of change agents are influenced by positive self-image and risk tolerance. In order to examine the hypothesis, this study was performed with 305 change agents from six branches of a conglomerate company. Specifically, self-image was measured by locus of control, self-efficacy, self-esteem, and positive affectivity; risk tolerance was measured by tolerance for ambiguity, risk aversion, and openness to experience. The result of this study indicated that self-image and risk tolerance significantly predicted change acceptance and work adaptation. Especially, the results of structural model revealed that change acceptance mediated the relationship between characteristic variables (such as self image and risk tolerance in this study) and work adaptation. Based on the results, we suggest that change agents keep developing positive self-image and risk tolerance in order to play the key role in leading organizational change.
