The purpose of this study was to examine what made dental hygiene students choose their major subject and how much they were satisfied with that in an effort to pave the way for more successful guidance. The subjects in this study were 320 dental hygiene students from five colleges in Gyeonggi province, Incheon, Gangweon province, north Gyeongsang province and north Jeolla province. 32 freshmen and 32 sophomores each were selected from the colleges.

This descriptive research study was undertaken to identify the degree of learning motivation, transfer climate, learning self-efficacy, and transfer motivation, and to correlate the variables, in nursing students receiving simulation-based education. The subjects of this study were 4th grade nursing students who completed a simulation course at a nursing university; data collected using the self-report questionnaire were analyzed using the SPSS 21.0 program. Our results indicate high values of learning motivation, transfer climate (including the lower variables supervisor's support, peer's support, and transfer opportunity), learning self-efficacy, and transfer motivation. Learning motivation, learning self-efficacy, and transfer motivation significantly differed with respect to social motivation for entering school (Z=6.04, p=0.049; Z=6.92, p=0.031; Z=9.16, p=0.010, respectively) and major satisfaction (Z=8.55, p=0.036; Z=12.55, p=0.006; Z=13.47, p=0.004, respectively). All these variables were positively correlated, especially transfer motivation with learning motivation, supervisor's support, peer's support, transfer opportunity, and learning self-efficacy. Taken together, the results of this study indicate a need to develop an effective simulation-based education program to encourage transfer motivation, as well as follow-up studies that verify the causal relationship between transfer motivation and related variables.

The purpose of this study was to develop a learning motivation program and to test its effect to provide basic data to be used for freshmen who are going to enter nursing college and various educational strategies and policies for successful university life. In order to develop the program, the contents of the program were structured so as to improve the learning ability, self-directed ability, and social competence through the current research and literature review. As a result, motivation (F=3.45 p=.033), core competence (F=7.35 p=.001), time management (F=9.80 p<.001) and career attitude maturity (F=19.83 p<.001) were significantly increased before the program. This suggests that the composition of the learning motivation program includes various learning strategies unlike nursing and majors.

대학에서 학습효과를 높이기 위해 신입생들을 대상으로 기초학습능력검사를 실시하고 있다. 대학별 수시 비율이 높아짐에 따라 특성화고등학교 학생들이 입학의 기회 폭이 증가하였다. 이과와 문과의 계열성을 떠나 수학, 영어 등의 기본 교육과정이 다르기 때문에 대학에 진학해서 그동안 배우지 않은 전공 교과목에 많은 어려움을 느끼고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 보건계열 치위생과에 입학한 학생들의 가장 기본 전공과목인 치위생학개론 수업 전 구강에 관련된 지식을 다 각도에 따라 분석하여 이를 기초한 교수 학습 방법 및 학습자의 능동적인 수업 참여와 함께 동기 유발이 될 수 있도록 함에 있다.

This study was conducted to describe the relationship and influencing factors among college life adaptation, academic self-efficacy, and department satisfaction of freshman nursing students. There were 345 345 nursing freshman between November 30 and December 4 who participated in this study. The mean score of the college life adaptation, academic self-efficacy, and department satisfaction was $2.91({\pm}0.52)$, $2.79({\pm}0.60)$, and $3.55({\pm}0.47)$. The college life adaptation related with male group (p=.004), entering motivation (p=.027), friendship satisfaction (p<.001), first semester grade (p=.005), and academic self-efficacy related with male group (p=.040), entering motivation (p=.047), desired work (p=.015), friendship satisfaction (p=.014), first semester grade(p<.001), and department satisfaction related with entering motivation (p=.004), friendship satisfaction (p<.001), and first semester grade (p=.002) all showed statistical significance. There was a significant positive correlation among college life adaptation, academic self-efficacy (r=.223, p<.001), and department satisfaction (r=.342, p<.001). A significant and positive correlation was found between academic self-efficacy and department satisfaction (r=.218, p<.001). Department satisfaction was largely influenced by the college life adaptation. The regression model explained 23.1% of college life adaptation. In conclusion, this study showed that college life adaptation of freshman nursing students was correlated with academic self-efficacy and department satisfaction. Moreover, to increase the college adaptation of nursing freshman, it is necessary to develop educational programs to improve academic self-efficacy and department satisfaction.
