  • The aim of this study was to identify how information media about patient safety incidents influences nursing students' knowledge, perception, and confidence in performance toward patient safety. A total of 337 nursing students agreed to participate in this study. Data were collected from the participants between June 4 and June 12, 2018. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficient with SPSS 21.0. Participants' scores for knowledge, perception, and performance confidence toward patient safety were $6.43{\pm}1.92$, $41.02{\pm}4.35$, and $39.61{\pm}5.89$, respectively. Patient safety knowledge was significantly different according to age, grade, and patient safety education experience. Patient safety perception was significantly different according to satisfaction with the major, patient safety performance confidence showed statistically significant differences according to grade, patient safety education experience, and major satisfaction. Information media exposure to patient safety incidents on TV and knowledge (r=.32, p<.000) and performance confidence (r=.21, p<.000) toward patient safety had positive correlations. Information media exposure to patient safety incidents on the internet and knowledge (r=.34, p<.000), perception (r=.12, p=.028), and performance confidence (r=.24, p<.000) toward patient safety also had positive correlations. This study provides basic data for nursing education and program development for patient safety management.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of oral health education using Qraycam. The study materials used oral hygiene examination, oral health attitude and oral health behavior scores, and compared their pre and post results. This study was a pre-post test design for a single group. The research period was from September to mid-December, 2018. The subjects of the study were 33 participants who visit for the class and 33 students for the survey of education preference. The data analysis used IBM SPSS 24.0 Ver, a significant level was 0.05. As a result, O' Leary index and halitosis as oral hygiene examination were significantly reduced according to intervention pre and post using Qraycam (p<.001). The oral health attitude and oral health behavior score were statistically significantly high according to intervention pre and post using Qraycam (p<.001). The satisfaction level was significantly high when using Qraycam among students' preference for education methods in the categories "useful in oral health education" and "a good ability to recognize and determine plaque" (p<.001). In conclusion, oral health education using Qraycam in dental clinics will be a way to improve oral health education effects for dental hygienists.

  • We aimed to identify personal-interpersonal-social factors influencing Person-Centered Care Competence (PCCC) of senior grade nursing students based on King's dynamic interaction system model. The data were collected using online based questionnaires that contained items on ethical sensitivity, peer group care interaction, interpersonal competence, social support and PCCC. The participants were 242 4th grade nursing students who had undergone clinical practicum. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, T-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and Multiple regression analysis with the SPSS 26.0. In the multiple regression analysis, interpersonal competence(β=0.42, p<.001) and social support(β=0.29, p<.001) were statistically significant factors that explained 44.1% of PCCC(F=23.77, p<.001). This study is significant in that we identified the factors affecting the Person-centered Care competence based on King's conceptual framework. This study could provide basic data for the development of an intervention program to improve PCCC of senior nursing students.

  • In medical institutions, there are radiation-related workers such as radiological technologists, physicians, dentists, and dental hygienists who handle diagnostic radiation generators. Also, there are work assistants, such as nurses and assistant nurses, who assist in radiation treatment or transfer patients to the radiation examination room. Radiation exposure management for radiation-related workers is carried out under the 「Medical Service Act」, but there is no legal basis for work assistants, etc. And the management of radiation exposure for diagnosis is regulated by the 「Medical Service Act」, and the management of radiation exposure by therapeutic radiation and nuclear medical examination is governed by the 「Nuclear Safety Act」. Thus, to improve the management of radiation exposure for diagnosis, the regulations on radiation exposure management for diagnosis under the 「Medical Service Act」 were compared and reviewed with those of the 「Nuclear Safety Act」. As a result, the main contents are as follows. First, it is necessary to legislate to include nurses, assistant nurses, and clinical practice students who are likely to be exposed to radiation besides radiationrelated workers as subjects of radiation exposure management for diagnosis. Second, when a radiation-related worker for diagnosis is confirmed to be pregnant, the exposure dose limit should be defined. Third, it is necessary to revise the regulations on the types of personal exposure dosimeters in the 「Rules on the Safety Management of Radiation Generators for Diagnostics」. Fourth, it seems that health examination items for radiation-related workers, radiation workers, and frequent visitors should be the same. Fifth, It is necessary to unify and regulate diagnostic radiation and all medical radiation, including therapeutic radiation and nuclear medicine, in one legal system.

  • This study conducted a systematic literature review on nursing students to find out the types and composition of patient safety-related education programs. The research was conducted systematically using PRISMA. The patient was a nursing college student, and the intervention was patient safety education. The outcome was either numerical or descriptive reports of the results measured using the tool. The types of research were carried out including randomized design, quasi-experimental design, one-group design, survey and qualitative research. The paper was searched through Medline, Embases, CINAHL, DBpia, Riss and KISS. A total of 2,468 papers were searched in the search results, and nine papers were used for analysis as a result of extracting data according to PICO. The characteristics of patient safety education of nursing college students were classified according to the teaching method, period, result variables and measurement tools. As a result, patient safety education consisted of a variety of subjects, and was being taught through lectures, clinical practice, laboratories, and simulations. The period of education also varied. The resulting variables were mainly checked for knowledge, attitude, and skill, and the tools used to measure them varied. Patient safety education for nursing college students was conducted through various topics, methods and periods at home and abroad. Therefore, continuous research is needed to establish consistent and integrated patient safety education in educational institutions and working institutions to produce nursing personnel with patient safety capabilities.

  • This study was a descriptive research study targeting medical students to determine the impact of self-directed learning ability, self-regulated learning, and communication ability on self-efficacy in performing medical treatment. This study randomly selected medical students from Region J, located in Province G, as the approximate population, and a total of 125 copies were finally analyzed. Descriptive statistics were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, correlation, and multiple regression analysis using IBM SPSS/25. Self-efficacy in performing medical treatment was related to self-directed learning ability (r=.61, p<.001), self-regulated learning (r=.50, p<.001), and communication ability (r=.33, p<.001). There was a positive correlation with all of them. As a result of analyzing the variables that affect the subject's self-efficacy in performing medical treatment using hierarchical multiple regression, self-directed learning ability was found to be the factor that best predicts self-efficacy in performing medical treatment, followed by self-regulated learning and communication ability. The total explanatory power was 46.6%. Acquiring specialized knowledge and becoming a doctor after graduation through clinical practice and acquiring the basic clinical practice skills necessary to successfully perform one's duties are important tasks that medical students must accomplish. Therefore, in order to improve medical students' self-efficacy in performing medical treatment, the importance of improving health care, major satisfaction, and life satisfaction must be recognized and managed. In addition, efforts to develop programs and improve systematic systems that can improve self-directed learning, self-regulated learning, and communication skills should also be supported.
