An Analysis of Teaching Strategies of Science Teacher's Teaching in Science Museum (과학관 학습 실행에서 나타난 과학 교사의 교수 전략 분석)

  • In this case study, we investigated teaching strategies of science teacher's teaching in science museum. Two secondary science teachers who completed a teacher training course on teaching in science museums participated in this study. We conducted interviews about their perceptions on teaching in science museum and their teaching plans before teaching. Then, we observed and recorded their teaching practices in the science museum throughout one semester, and collected all of the teaching materials. The interviews were also conducted after every lessons and at the end of the semester. For the analysis of teaching strategies, we used a framework that was revised from the framework for museum practice (FMP). The analysis of results revealed that the teachers understood the significance of planning the activities in a series of pre-visit, during-visit, and post-visit, so that they structured their teaching as continuous activities, not as an one-time event. However, they showed differences in the extent of connecting the activities with the national science curriculum according to their teaching objectives. In addition, there were differences in strategies such as promoting social interaction, evoking students' curiosity and interest, providing students with choices and control, and inducing engagement and challenge depending on each teacher's perceptions and experiences on teaching in science museum. These results suggest that science teacher education for the professional development of teaching in science museum should systematically provide knowledge and experiences on teaching strategies based on appropriate perceptions on teaching in science museum.

An Analysis of Structural Relationship Among Positive Parenting Attitudes, Attitudes Toward Science, Science Inquiry Skills, and Science Achievements perceived by Middle School Students (중학생이 지각한 부모의 긍정적 양육 태도·과학 태도 및 과학 탐구 능력과 과학 학업 성취도의 구조적 관계 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to estimate the direct and indirect effects of relevant variables on students' science achievements. Path analysis was conducted with data from middle school to examine the effects of perceived positive parenting attitudes, attitudes toward science, science inquiry skills on the science achievements of middle school students. A total of 502 middle school students from the metropolitan area participated in this study. Results suggest that students' perceptions of positive parenting attitudes had no direct influence on their science inquiry skills. However, the students' attitudes toward science and science inquiry skills were found to have meaningful direct effects on their achievements. Students' perception of positive parenting attitudes also presented a significant direct effect on their attitude toward science. In addition, the students' perceived positive parenting attitude revealed an indirect effect on science achievement, through their own attitudes toward science and science inquiry skills. Research findings called for more educational programs and teaching methods considering students' attitudes toward science and science inquiry skills to improve their science achievements. At home, parents need to have positive parenting attitudes to influence their children's attitudes regarding science.

A Study on the Current Status and Improvement Plans for Culinary Education (조리교육 현황과 발전 방안 연구)

  • This study analyzes the differences to examine which education is more effective for practical cooking skills. A survey was conducted on the 4 year university students majoring in culinary arts to examine the recognition levels of culinary practice education for the purpose of searching for an improvement plan for culinary education. The results are as follows. Seniors recognize the importance of learning theory, while the classes offered now are focusing on getting cooking certificates. The students approach cooking not only for eating food but also for the arts, showing increased interests in 'creative food' and 'fusion food.' In class, they feel the necessity of establishing a standard for a fair assessment and English skills for the globalization of food service. Hereupon this study recognizes the current state of culinary education service, draws factors which decide the quality of culinary arts education, and examines student satisfaction with theoretical education, practical education, assessment, and external education by using a factor analysis of twenty quality attributes. Through the development and application of various programs, operation of open practice classes and culinary organization reflecting social changes in learning courses, the culinary arts education is considered to be more vitalized. In this respect, this study introduces four measures which were designed to facilitate the education of highly-skilled human resources in the culinary field.

  • In this study computer assisted instruction materials for the ‘Solution' chapter in high school chemistry II textbook were developed based on a view of particle and analyze the effect of the materials on 10th and 11th high school students. The contents of developed materials are dissolution, vapor pressure, the change of boiling point and freezing point, osmosis, and so on which are the major contents of Solution chapter in high school chemistry II textbook. Materials were developed with using animation and simulation for students understanding of the phenomena with a particle view point. Many phenomena in a solution were not simplified by colligative property of solution, but tried to explain by the concept of attraction between solute and solvent molecules. This computer assisted learning materials were developed using Flash 5.0 and Flash 6.0 Action Script. Educational effects of the materials on 10th and 11th grade students represented statistically meaningful increase of concept understanding. Especially the materials were effective to the transition stage or formal stage students in 10th grade and formal stage or the natural science major students in 11th grade.

Physicochemical and Sensory Properties of Herb Samgyetang, Ginseng Chicken Soup with Different Levels of Added Medicinal Herbs (한약재 첨가량에 따른 한방 삼계탕의 이화학적 및 관능적 특성)

  • The physicochemical and sensory properties of herb samgyetang, ginseng chicken soup added with medicinal herbs were investigated to determine the optimum addition level of medicinal herbs. The pH of herb samgyetang decreased with increasing addition level of the Acorus gramineus addition level, and the soluble solid content increased as the Codonopsis lanceolata addition level increased. The herb samgyetang with the highest Codonopsis lanceolata addition level had the lowest $L^*$ and $b^*$ value. In contrast, the $a^*$ value increased with increasing Codonopsis lanceolata addition level. In sensory evaluation, the highest color, taste, and overall acceptability scores were obtained by the herb samgyetang with the highest Codonopsis lanceolata addition level. In conclusion, the optimum addition levels of medicinal herbs for herb Samgyetang are as follows: Platycodon grandiflorum 4 g, Acorus gramineus 4 g, Codonopsis lanceolata 12 g, Schizandra chinensis 6 g, Atractylodeslancea 4 g, Glycyrrhiza uralensis 4 g, and Zizyphus jujube 4 g.

Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) of the Core Competence of Gifted Education Teachers (영재교육 담당교원의 핵심역량 인식에 대한 중요도와 실행도(IPA) 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to find out the difference between importance and performance regarding perception of core competence of gifted education teachers through importance-performance analysis (IPA). One hundred fourteen elementary gifted education teachers including math and science participated in the study. The collected survey data was analyzed with IPA matrix. As the result, firstly, there was significant difference between importance and performance regarding perception of core competence of gifted education teachers. Secondly, core competencies of 'understanding knowledge', 'research and instruction', 'passion and motivation', and 'ethics' are high in both perceptions of importance and performance. However, both 'communication and practices' and 'professional curriculum development' are low. Thirdly, there was a difference in core competence of gifted education teachers between math and science at the competence of 'passion and motivation'. Math gifted education teachers perceived 'passion and motivation' high in both importance and performance while science gifted education teachers perceived its importance low and performance high. In addition, math gifted education teachers showed lower performance compared to its importance in the sub-categories; 'knowledge of gifted development', 'gifted child assessment', 'information gathering and its literacy', and 'creative answers to various questions'. However, science gifted education teachers showed lower performance compared to its importance in sub-categories; 'higher-order thinking skills in its subject', 'teaching methodology for self-directed learning', 'problem behavior of the gifted', and 'counseling the gifted'.

Evaluation of Physicochemical Properties and Biological Activities of Steamed and Fermented Deodeok (Codonopsis lanceolata) (증숙 및 발효 더덕의 이화학적 특성 및 생리활성 변화)

  • This study was designed to evaluate the physicochemical properties and biological activities of steamed and fermented Codonopsis lanceolata. The treatments included NS-NF (non-steamed and non-fermented), NS-LF (non-steamed and L. rhamnosus fermented), S-NF (steamed and non-fermented), and S-LF (steamed and L. rhamnosus fermented). Total polyphenol amounts of S-NF and S-LF were significantly increased to more than 26 mg GAE/g. The highest DPPH scavenging activities were observed for S-NF and S-LF, showing $EC_{50}$ values of 0.8 and 0.6 mg/mL, respectively. The growths of Staphylococcus aureus, Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella Typhimurium, and Shigella boydii were effectively inhibited by S-LF (MIC < 9 mg/mL). The NS-LF and S-LF ($EC_{50}$ <6 mg/mL) effectively inhibited ${\alpha}$-Glucosidase and tyrosinase activities compared to NS-NF ($EC_{50}$ <17 mg/mL). The S-LF exhibited the highest acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitory activity ($IC_{50}$ <32 mg/mL). Therefore, the results suggest that the application of the steaming process combined with probiotic fermentation can effectively enhance the biological and pharmacological activities in C. lanceolata.

우리도 국제수학경시대회(IMO)에 참가 하여야 한다.

  • 호주 정부는 1988년이 유럽인의 호주 이민 200주년이 되는 것을 기념하여 대대적인 행사를 추진하고 있으며 이 행사의 일환으로 1988년 7월 9일 부터 21일 까지 "제29회 국제수학경시대회"를 개최할 예정이다. 이 대회의 주최측에서는 우리나라에도 중ㆍ고등학생의 참가를 요청하였다. 필자들은 이 대회에 우리나라 대표를 파견할 경우를 대비하여 그 동안 IMO에 관한 여러가지의 정보를 조사한 바 대회 참가 여부에 대하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 참가의 필요성 (1) 중ㆍ고등 학생들에게 수학에 관한 관심을 높히고, 나아가서는 모든 국민에게 과학적인 사고의 향상을 기대한다. (2) 궁극적으로 수학을 위시한 기초 과학, 응용 과학에 대한 전반적인 관심도가 높아져서 수학자 및 과학자의 저변 확대를 기대할 수 있고, 특히 수리적인 사고력이 뛰어난 사람을 조기에 찾아내어 2000년대의 과학 선진국 건설에 중추적인 역할을 맡을 인력자원을 확보할 수 있다. (3) 현재 중ㆍ고등학교 수학 교육이 계산 위주, 암기 위주로 되어 있고, 학력 고사를 위시하여 많은 시험이 객관적으로 사고력 배양이 고려되지 않고 있다. IMO 참가자를 선발하기 위하여 거국적인 경시 대회를 개최한다면 자연히 이를 대비한 주관식 문제를 접할 기회를 가지게 되고, 따라서 수학 교육의 목적중의 하나인 사고력 배양을 기대할 수 있다. (4) 우리 국민의 조직적인 사고력과 과학적인 두뇌를 세계적으로 자랑할 수 있는 좋은 기회이다. (5) 자라나는 새싹들에게 국제 대회의 기회를 주므로써 장차 우리나라의 수학 수준을 국제적으로 높힐 수 있는 기틀을 마련한다. 2. 우리나라 학생이 IMO에 참가하여 우수한 성적을 거둘수 있는지 여부 (1) 절대적으로 있다. 참가하는 첫 해부터 상위권에 들어갈 것이다. 우리의 중ㆍ고등학교 수학 수준이 세계 평균보다 약간 높다. 그리고 몇 년의 경륜을 쌓는다면 세계 1, 2위에 도전 할 수 있다. 이것은 올림픽이나 아시아 게임에 기울이는 비용의 몇 만분의 일을 가지고, 그 보다 훨씬 높은 수준의 국력을 과시할 수 있는 기회이다. (2)매년 그 성적이 올라가리라 생각한다. 예로서 우리와 비교하여 형편없는 국력을 가진 몽고가 8년간 꼴찌를 하다 1894년 대회에서 참가국 33개국 중에서 10위를 차지하였다. 미국은 참가 첫 해부터 2위를 하였고, 11년 동안 1위 2번, 2위 4번을 하였으며, 매번 5위 이내에 머물렀다. (3) 월남은 그 나라의 사정때문인지 자주 참가하지 못하였다. 그러나 참가할 때마다 항상 상위권에 속하였다. 이것은 월남 국민들의 수학에 관한 관심도를 나타낸다고 본다. 우리 국민도 월남 국민에 못지 않으리라 생각한다. 3. 한국수학교육학회가 주관하여 뛰어난 학생을 선발 할 수 있는지 여부 (1) 있다. (2)한국수학경시대회 (KMO) 위원회를 한국수학교육학회 산하에 구성하여 KMO를 주관하게 하고, 또 국내의 여러 수학경시대회에서 우수한 성적을 나타낸 학생중에서 일정한 인원(50명 정도)을 선발하여 특별히 선정된 훈련팀으로 하여금 조직적인 훈련을 시킨다면 된다. 4. 기타 (1) 과거 어떠한 형태로든 국제 대회에 참가한 경력은 전혀 없다. (2) 1960년대에 서울대학교 공과대학 학생회에서 주최한 수학경시대회가 있었으나 보잘것이 없었고, 현재에도 각 시도별 또는 대학주관의 경시대회가 있으나 거국적인 호응을 받지 못했다. 물론 국제 대회에 참석시키는 것은 엄두도 내지 않았다.

The Influence of the Grouping Method by Personality Types on Mathematical Attitude and Achievement in Small Group Cooperative Learning (소집단 협동학습에서 성격유형별 집단구성방법이 수학적 태도 및 성취도에 미치는 영향)

  • The method of being composed of small groups has a strong influence on mathematics and cooperative learning and therefore, the group classification should be made in a way of considering not only a learner's cognitive factor but also a affective factor in order to maximize the effects. In this research, we regarded personality as the important standard of the group classification for cooperative learning and tried to find out the influence on the mathematical attitude and achievement in mathematics by means of conducting mathematics and cooperative learning according to the personality types. In order to resolve this problem, we performed the cooperative learning of small group subject to the students at year 6 in an elementary school by making up a similar personality type of group and a different personality type of group through MMTIC examination, and also tried to find out any significant difference in terms of mathematical attitude and achievement in mathematics between two groups. The results obtained in this research are as follows; First, organizing groups in accordance with personality types did not affect on mathematical attitude. Although there were some positive opinions towards mathematics and cooperative learning, the both similar personality type of group and different personality type of group showed no significant difference in terms of mathematical attitude between two groups. Second, organizing groups in accordance with personality types showed positive effects on the achievement in mathematics. The similar personality type of group showed the better achievement in mathematics than the different personality type of group.

  • 네트워크상에서 발생하는 다양한 형태의 대량의 데이터를 정확하고 효율적으로 분석하기 위해 설계되고 있는 마이닝 시스템들은 목표지향적으로 훈련데이터들을 어떻게 구축하여 다룰 것인지에 대한 문제보다는 대부분 얼마나 많은 데이터 마이닝 기법을 지원하고 이를 적용할 수 있는지 등의 기법에 초점을 두고 있다. 따라서, 점점 더 에이전트화, 분산화, 자동화 및 은닉화 되는 최근의 보안공격기법을 정확하게 탐지하기 위한 방법은 미흡한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 유비쿼터스 환경 내에서 발생 가능한 문제 중 복잡하고 지능화된 침입패턴의 탐지를 위해 데이터 마이닝 기법과 결함허용방법을 이용하는 개선된 학습알고리즘과 후처리 방법에 의한 RTPID(Refinement Training and Post-processing for Intrusion Detection)시스템을 제안한다. 본 논문에서의 RTPID 시스템은 active learning과 post-processing을 이용하여, 네트워크 내에서 발생 가능한 침입형태들을 정확하고 효율적으로 다루어 분석하고 있다. 이는 기법에만 초점을 맞춘 기존의 데이터마이닝 분석을 개선하고 있으며, 특히 제안된 분석 프로세스를 진행하는 동안 능동학습방법의 장점을 수용하여 학습효과는 높이며 비용을 감소시킬 수 있는 자가학습방법(self learning)방법의 효과를 기대할 수 있다. 이는 관리자의 개입을 최소화하는 학습방법이면서 동시에 False Positive와 False Negative 의 오류를 매우 효율적으로 개선하는 방법으로 기대된다. 본 논문의 제안방법은 분석도구나 시스템에 의존하지 않기 때문에, 유사한 문제를 안고 있는 여러 분야의 네트웍 환경에 적용될 수 있다.더욱 높은성능을 가짐을 알 수 있다.의 각 노드의 전력이 위험할 때 에러 패킷을 발생하는 기법을 추가하였다. NS-2 시뮬레이터를 이용하여 실험을 한 결과, 제안한 기법이 AOMDV에 비해 경로 탐색 횟수가 최대 36.57% 까지 감소되었음을 알 수 있었다.의 작용보다 더 강력함을 시사하고 있다.TEX>로 최고값을 나타내었으며 그 후 감소하여 담금 10일에는 $1.61{\sim}2.34%$였다. 시험구간에는 KKR, SKR이 비교적 높은 값을 나타내었다. 무기질 함량은 발효기간이 경과할수록 증하였고 Ca는 $2.95{\sim}36.76$, Cu는 $0.01{\sim}0.14$, Fe는 $0.71{\sim}3.23$, K는 $110.89{\sim}517.33$, Mg는 $34.78{\sim}122.40$, Mn은 $0.56{\sim}5.98$, Na는 $0.19{\sim}14.36$, Zn은 $0.90{\sim}5.71ppm$을 나타내었으며, 시험구별로 보면 WNR, BNR구가 Na만 제외한 다른 무기성분 함량이 가장 높았다.O to reduce I/O cost by reusing data already present in the memory of other nodes.
