Traffic accident frequency and severity level in Korea are known to be very serious. Especially the number of pedestrian fatalities was much worse and 1.6 time higher than the OECD average. According to the National Police Agency, the flash signals are reported to have many safety benefits as well as travel time reduction, which is opposed to the foreign studies. With this background of expanding the flash signal, this research aims to investigate the overall impact of the flash signal operation on safety, investigating and comparing the accident occurrence on the flash signal and the full signal intersections. For doing this accident prediction models for both flash and full signal intersections were estimated using independent variables (geometric features and traffic volume) and 3-year (2011-2013) accident data collected in Seoul. Considering the rare and random nature of accident occurrence and overdispersion (variance > mean) of the data, the negative binomial regression model was applied. As a result, installing wider crosswalk and increasing the number of pedestrian push buttons seemed to increase the safety of the flash signal intersections. In addition, the result showed that the average accident occurrence at the flash signal intersections was higher than at the full signal-operated intersections, 9% higher with everything else the same.

Among the methods to improve traffic congestion by providing real-time traffic information and solving problems like traffic congestion and traffic crashes, private enterprise is implementing policies to lower insurance premiums like compensation for drivers' driving safety scores. Despite the emergence of various incentive policies, a study on the level of incentive payment for safe/eco-friendly driving is insufficient. The research analyzed the satisfactory factors that affect the scale of incentives through questionnaires and the applicable scale of incentives that enable safe/eco-friendly driving using a binary logistic regression model. As a result of analyzing the incentive scale of the appropriate payment amount for each driving score increase, 0.4% of the toll fee was derived when the driving score increased by 20 points, and 0.5% of the toll fee was derived when the driving score increased by 30 points. This study on calculating the appropriate incentive payment scale for driver information sharing and driving score increase will help optimize incentives and prepare system implementation plans.

Bacterial leaf blight caused by Pseudomonas syringae pv. porri is one of the major bacterial diseases of garlic (Allium sativum). In South Korea, the disease has only been observed in garlic-growing regions of Jeju island. The spatial distribution pattern of the disease was analyzed by binary power law, in which the natural logarithm of the observed variance is regressed on the natural logarithm of the binomial variance. The estimated slope (b=1.361) of the regression was greater than 1 which meant that the diseased plants were aggregated. The sequential sampling plans were developed for estimating the mean incidence rate ($p_m$) and classifying the mean incidence as being below or above the critical incidence rate ($p_t$). These results could be used on more efficient and higher precisive sampling for bacterial blight of garlic compared to fixed sample sized sampling.

The negative awareness of a multiculturalism rises around the world because of various problems that happen with the multicultural phenomenon. Nevertheless, the reason we uphold multiculturalism is that multicultural phenomenon is an inevitable consequence of capitalism and the decline of multiculturalism might imply danger of bringing about radical nationalism. This study assumes that a distortion of multiculturalism is the result from a myth of romance film which affects the public perception as an integral component of a discourse. Grounded upon monomith, the narrative structure of romance film of which motive comes from courtly love makes people miscomprehend the value of multiculturalism because of the multicultural factor as substitute for romantic obstacle. As the character of romance movie is likely to be formed focusing on superficial images and denotations, this tendency causes the hierarchy and the representative minority drives out the rest of other minorities. The attempt to arouse people's tolerance and understanding of the other is frustrated both by the structure of binary oppositions and the clich$\acute{e}$.

The Wald confidence interval has been considered as a standard method for the difference of proportions. However, the erratic behavior of the coverage probability of the Wald confidence interval is recognized in various literatures. Various alternatives have been proposed. Among them, Agresti-Caffo confidence interval has gained the reputation because of its simplicity and fairly good performance in terms of coverage probability. It is known however, that the Agresti-Caffo confidence interval is conservative. In this note, a confidence interval is developed using the weighted Polya posterior which was employed to obtain a confidence interval for the binomial proportion in Lee(2005). The resulting confidence interval is simple and effective in various respects such as the closeness of the average coverage probability to the nominal confidence level, the average expected length and the mean absolute error of the coverage probability. Practically it can be used for the interval estimation of the difference of proportions for any sample sizes and parameter values.

In recent years, Korean consumption trends have undergone rapid changes. Also, subscription economy has emerged and is growing as a new shopping method. The purpose of this study was to verify the relationship between consumer attitude and intention to continue to use of the consumption value of subscription service based on subscription economy. To this end, we analyzed the structural equation modeling for 300 consumers who used HMR products through subscription services. The analysis results are as follows. First, consumption value (functional, emotional, social and monetary) of HMR products perceived by subscribers had a significantly positive effect on consumer attitude except for monetary value. Second, consumer attitude was found to have a positive effect on consumers' intention to continue to use. This study contributes to the development of academic theories related to the subscription service in the early stages and provides managerial implications for HMR-related companies that want to utilize subscription service.

This paper deals with the online privacy policy, which is designed to solve the information asymmetry problem between websites and internet users. We empirically analyze the recognition, confirmation of the online privacy policy, and its effects on online transaction behavior using a rich survey data representing 5,422 Korean internet users. Major results are as follows. First, there exists a significant difference between recognition and confirmation, and confirmation behavior is positively related with the importance of privacy issue and the experience of privacy invasion. Second, binary variable regressions show that internet user tends to participate in online transaction if he/she confirms the online privacy policy positively. Finally, if websites would make online privacy policy easy and short, a yearly online transaction market size of Korea would increase by 0.46 million participants and 22.4 billion KRW.

In this report, new standard, published by Japanese Geotechnical Society, on in-situ stress measurements by hydraulic fracturing was reviewed. In the standard, modification was made for the calculation of fracture re-opening pressure in consideration of fracture surface roughness and residual aperture. The standard also presents how much the system compliance influences the estimation of the fracture re-opening pressure and subsequent in-situ stresses. It is shown that the stiffer the rock mass is, the system compliance should be sufficiently small enough so as to obtain in-situ stress measurement with higher confidence.

Purpose: We propose a new scheme for predicting promise technology and it improves the conventional scheme that misses important lists of patent because of insufficient search formula, and cannot reflect new trend of technology due to the unreleased period of patents. Method: In this paper, we propose a new search formula exploiting TF and TF-IDF with R programming as well as related keywords, and LDA topic modeling scheme is used for analyzing recently published papers in Satellite·Terrestrial Information Convergence Disaster Response. Result: By comparing both schemes with commercial DB, the proposed scheme can find more important patents, and can reflect new trend of technology, compared to the conventional scheme. Conclusion: The proposed scheme can be used to predict promise technologies in the field of Satellite·Terrestrial Information Convergence Disaster Response.
