As a film maker, Lee Chang Dong stands out from most Korean film makers who work within the trappings of genre films. To be sure, Lee has also used the trappings of genre films, such as noire and melodrama, but primarily as a tool to communicate with film audience. In his most recent film "Poetry", Lee seems to have even stripped even the minimal trappings of genre film. Lee commands the audience to self-reflect and work towards their own conclusions by denying them the illusory identification on screen. In this way, Lee's works are counter cinema. Lee achieves a distancing effect using such filmic apparatuses as hand-held camera, fantasy, mise en abyme, and returned gaze. Through these filmic apparatuses, Lee exposes the re-presentation of text and compels his audience to see the historical and political contexts of the text. In this study, I make the case that Lee Chang Dong's film making is an act of repetition compulsion that cultivates ethical reflection, through symbolization of the invisible realities.

Film is all about people. Characters in films represent the worldviews and perspectives on "people" of film directors. Lee Chang-Dong, Lim Sang-Soo, These are the directors who concentrate on "persona" in their films, but in turn, they see it at unique and distinctive angles. Director Lee Chang-Dong seeks for innocence as the core of humanity and hopes to recover it in his films. On the other hand, director Lim Sang-Soo keeps his sarcastic and nihilistic stances towards human nature, claiming that we are just mere beings who "happen to" be living and staying at our time in history. This paper examines the contrasting views on 'human nature' of the two directors, which are uniquely explored in the films , of Lee Chang-dong and , , of Lim Sang-soo respectively. What is the true human nature that each of these two directors wants to imbue his films with and how different are their perspectives?

Director Lee Chang-dong's movies deal mainly with the matter of subject as a human individual. He attempts to show how the subject as a human individual is structured in society through the characters in the movies. It can be seen that a considerable part of this is connected to the matter of subject which is maintained by Michel Foucault, a modern French philosopher. Foucault contends that the subject has lost its identity in the huge structure of society and has become the object. The subject is alienated within the power. The subject is also divided into normality and abnormality in the social structure. Particularly, the movie directed by Lee Chang-dong shows an individual containing consideration toward self and Foucault also showed his attempts in his later years to newly interpret the subject in the context of consideration toward self. Through this thesis, I attempt to examine the matter of the subject that the film director Lee Chang-dong and Foucault have in common.

is a movie about the frustration and the despair of young people in Korean society today. It is different from the previous Lee Chang-dong's film in that it provides the main character's perception and feelings about the world as the ultimate cause of the protagonist's actions. Lee Chang-dong's characters begin to change from . The main character of Burning goes one step further. He seems to believe that the main character's only weapon to overcome the logic and constraints of reality is obsessive and compulsive behaviors. Unlike previous movies, the character in Burning is a person who practices awareness and proves his character through action. I will analyze characters in to suggest the change of film form. Especially I will look at how the character's actions and the writer's own voice can meet and what results it bring about in this movie. It will lead to his changes in film form and an idea on the young people in Korean society today.

Also these films share another common thing which retain to strong emotional tie with spectator, based on the sympathy through the identification of hero. , < Peppermint Candy> represent to the mixture of realism and de-realism.. Specially shows the mixture of the realism and fantasy. This Quest for the films of Chang-dong Lee will include discussion of a critical attitude from realism, discussion of de-realism factors, and study of screen fantasy from the respective of psychoanalysis.

Director Lee Chang-dong saying that the most important thing is to let the audience experience, find its meaning, interpret, and feel the pure sensation (whether it's image, sound or music) that the film has instead of narrative giving you the answers, through the film presenting the pure natural landscape as it is, but all the familiar things that can be taken as a riddle are conveyed in images, and all the elements that make up the film share its presence with each other and let us experience a mysterious weight of reality that cannot be defined through its strange symbolism and metaphors, and it reflects various human emotions, reflecting curiosity of reality, the words that are hardly spoken, meanings of life that we were not being aware of. Rather than having one definitive figure, through the character's personality expressing an imperfect character with a complex ambiguous behavior asks about the things that can't be explained logically and the fact of life that can't be divided into truth or lie. Also, the acting approaches emotionally and primitively rather than using artificial expressions, showing the invisible elements of emotions that are latent inside humans through temperate acting style, leads the audience to distant themselves and reflect more deeply into life. This study analyzed the characters and acting of the film based on director Lee Chang-dong's directing style.

최근 항만과 해역의 안전성확보가 국제경쟁력의 주요 요인 중 하나로 대두됨에 따라 해상교통관제센터의 효율적인 운영과 관제사의 능력이 강조되고 있으며, 국제적으로 해상교통관제시스템과 관련된 사업이 팽창되고 있어 이와 관련된 국산화 기술 확보가 시급한 실정이다. 하지만 국내의 경우 해상교통관제시스템과 관련된 국산화 기술이 미미하며 해상교통관제에 사용되고 있는 시스템 및 해상교통관제사의 교육에 이용되는 시뮬레이터 개발이 전무하여 문제발생 시 해외제작사에 의존해야하며 교육을 위한 개선사항과 요구사항의 반영에 어려움이 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 해상교통관제(VTS) 시뮬레이터를 이용한 해상교통관제사들의 학습능률을 극대화하고, 개발된 해상교통관제(VTS)시뮬레이터의 국내 외 시장경쟁력을 확보하기 위하여 해상교통관제(VTS) 시뮬레이터의 권고 규정 분석 및 설문조사를 통한 해상교통관제사들의 사용자 요구사항을 분석하고자 한다.

In this study, in order to select the element items for risk assessment for autonomous ships, a survey was conducted on the maritime traffic control workers and the risk assessment element items were analyzed. The top five element items for risk assessment were identified, and the detailed value of risk elements according to the size of the vessel could be confirmed.
