Dispersal polymorphism in insects Is a kind of adaptive strategy of the life history together with the diapause, consisting of the “long-winged or alate forms” of migratory phase and the “short-winged or apterous forms” of stationary phase. Dispersal polymorphism is a polymorphism related with the flight capability, and has three categories ; the wing polymorphisms, flight muscle polymorphisms, and flight behavior variations. Phase variation is another type of dispersal polymorphism varying in morphology, physiology and wing forms in response to the density of the population. The dispersal migration is a very adaptive trait that enables a species to keep pace with the changing mosaic of its habitat, but requires some costs. In general, wing reduction has a positive effect on the reproductive potential such as earlier reproduction and larger fecundity The dispersal polymorphism is a kind of optimization in the evolutionary strategies of the life history in insects; a trade-off between the advantages and disadvantages of migration. Wing polymorphism is a phenotypically plastic trait. Wing form changes with the environmental conditions even though the species is the same. Various environmental factors have an effect on the dispersal polymorphisms. Density dependent dispersal polymorphism plays an important role In population dynamics, but it is not a simple function of the density; the individuals of a population may be different in response to the density resulting different outcomes in the population biology, and the detailed information on the genotypic variation of the individuals in the population is the fundamental importance in the prediction of the population performances in a given environment. In conclusion, the studies on the dispersal polymorphisms are a complicated field in relation with both physiology and ecology, and studies on the ecological and quantitative genetics have indeed contributed to understanding of its important nature. But the final factors of evolution; the mechanisms of natural selections, might be revealed through the studies on the population biology.
It has been known that edges of forest fire areas play significant roles in post-fire change of forest ecosystem and recovery process. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationships between edge formation of burned forests and landscape characteristics with consideration on spatial autocorrelation. Samcheok fire site burned in 2000 was selected as the study area. Seven hundred fifty three of 500 $m^2$ grid cells were generated for measuring landscape characteristics. This study used the topographic variables including slop, elevation, topographic wetness index, solar radiation index and proportions of fuel and land use types. In delineating landscape characteristics correlation analysis with modified t-test were performed for exploring the relationships between edge formation and landscape characteristics. The results indicated that edge formation of burned forests was positively correlated with most variables including TWI, SRI, water, paddy, developed, farm, grass, bare soil, and negatively related with elevation, slope and all fuel types. Especially TWI (r=0.437) showed a strong positive correlation with edge formation. According to the results, edge of burned forests were likely formed when proportions of heterogeneous land use types were high with mild slope and low elevation.

Jangchungdan Park is now perceived as a mere park at the foot of Namsan mountain, but originally it was created to commemorate soldiers of Korean Empire on a site which name was Namsoyeong(南小營) during Joseon Dynasty. During the period of Japanese colonial rule, it was transformed into a park due to the rapidly changing circumstances, so the components expressing the validity of the colonial rule were introduced into the park. This paper examines the time sequential changes of Jangchungdan Park during the period of Japanese colonial rule, and the conclusions can be summarized as given below. Firstly, the park originally was a space to commemorate the soldiers who fought for the Korean Empire. It was built on formerly restricted area at the foot of Namsan Mountain in 1900, and it was arranged putting the ceremonial shrine Dansa (壇祠) as a central building and the annexes in the surroundings of it. The memorial ceremonies were held regularly in spring and autumn until 1909. Secondly, it became a city park for citizens of Gyeongseong-bu(the name of Seoul under the Japanese colonial rule). The authorities of Gyeongseong-bu reorganized Jangchungdan as a park in 1919, prohibited the performance of memorial ceremonies, and the existing buildings except the ceremonial shrine Dansa began to be used as park management facilities. Resting areas and amenities were supplemented for the usage of people from various backgrounds, and the large scale planting of cherry trees made the park a famous place to enjoy cherry-blossoms and other flowers in spring. Thirdly, it was reconstructed as a space to honor the influential personalities of Japanese colonial system. In 1932, Bankmun temple (博文寺) to commemorate Ito Hirobumi was constructed at a location that made it possible for a number of people to overlook Jangchungdan area. During that time, the buildings of traditional Joseon architecture were removed and reconstructed to serve as annexes to Bankmun temple. Due to the strategy to make Jangchungdan park a tourist attraction, Bankmun temple was included into the Gyeongseong sightseeing course, since the wide panorama of Jangchungdan Park and the whole city of Gyeongseong was opening from the temple. Various different components were introduced into Jangchungdan Park due to the rapidly changing circumstances; therefore the nature of the park was either altered or reproduced. Hopefully, the park rearrangement works will be executed paying respects to the memories of the past hereafter.
Recent studies on development are increasingly focusing on analyzing development discourse and de constructing its institutionalization process in the nation-state. By pushing up the limit of the research on development, these studies particularly emphasize how development is articulated with the nation-state, its governmentality, and various representations. These studies overall consider development a powerful discourse, which invents under-development, mobilizes resources for changing particular space, and institutionalizes modem systems of socio-spatial control at a local scale. In this sense, it is particularly interesting to look at how the nation-state, faced with the deterritorialization of labor and capital, reterritorializes overseas resources and networks for the purpose of development. By problematizing the Overseas Koreans Foundation as a transnational state apparatus, this paper interrogates the way in which its institutionalized practices conjure up the national imagination, ethnic solidarity, and collective allegiance to the homeland in diaspora communities. This paper conclusively reports that the state apparatus circulates the discourse of transnational nationalism in Korean diaspora so as to appropriate their resources and networks for securing foreign currencies and investment in the homeland.

The purpose of this study is to develop a creative technique in fashion illustration through analyzing expressive characteristics of $d{\acute{e}}paysement$. This study is analyzed by examining the general theories of $d{\acute{e}}paysement$ and investigating the expressive technique related to the method of $d{\acute{e}}paysement$ in surrealism art and the expressive characteristics which is applied to fashion illustration. In this study, the researcher examines cases of the application of $d{\acute{e}}paysement$ to the fashion illustration through reviewing fashion illustrators' art works created since 2000. $D{\acute{e}}paysement$ is unfamiliar impression with lexical meaning in french that is translated by transposition or displacement technique, or country and one's home leave or person put in strange living environment. The characteristics of $d{\acute{e}}paysement$ in fashion illustration include spatial distortion, combination of heterogeneous objects located anywhere odd and modification and conversion of objects such as material change, change-over of scale in usual objects and conversion of inanimate objects into organism. As a result of reviewing the expressive characteristics of Depaysement from fashion illustration artworks, it is found that the fashion illustration with $d{\acute{e}}paysement$ fortified the individuality in fashion illustration and helps produce a creative inspiration which results in a distinctive ideas. This also has a greate possibilities to produce a tremendous ideas in fashion illustration.
The purpose of the precent investigation was to investigate diversity patterns in a fragmented Young-do forested landscape. It was conducted on sloping 18 plots (twelve 50$\times$50 m plots and six 10$\times$100 m plots). Total 1562 individuals were identified and measured in the 50$\times$50 m plots. These were a total of 68 species of 23 families present in the three sites. Least significant differences (LSD) by post hoc analysis revealed that fragments site A had significantly greater densities than site B. Shannon-Wiener functions differed significantly among forests (F=4.12, p<0.05), with site A forest having significantly higher value (3.401) than the others (2.590 for site B and 2.648 for site C). Pinus thunbergii and Quercus aliena were dominant on most sites. site. The Pinus densiflora forest of sites A and C is distributed better in the NE exposures compared with the opposite ones. Ficus erecta and Pinus densiflora largely occupied the southern exposures. The spatial distribution in southern Young-do's littoral forest was very heterogeneous, reflected by most species having low densities and patchy distributions.
Motiongraphics is not short film and has a special communication method characteristic of design. As graphic design needs space-composition, motiongraphics requires time-composition. In the 1920's, artists belonged Bauhaus in Germany tried to realize time-composition in the plans for abstract animation. At that time the russian film director Eisenstein experimented with moving image composit on, creating new meanings through the montage of heterogeneous images. In the digital era of today, motiongraphics is composed of such various elements as moving image, photo, illustration, typography, etc. The editing in montage film is one-dimensional. Meanwhile, motiongraphics of these days consists of a lot of layers, composing various elements by editing. Motiongraphics needs time structure and visual rhythm as well as scenario or storyboard for time composition. The principle of time composition in motiongraphics ist similar to that of musical composition. If we compare the time composition of abstract animation or montage film with the melody in a solo, time composition for motiongraphicf is like a symphony. Various composing elements are developed under different tempos at the same time.
The LEX system is a XML-based framework for medical information consolidation. The Lex makes it possible for heterogeneous HISs(Hospital Information Systems) exchange and share HL7 messages by storing the messages into a single Central Clinical Database. In this paper, we propose a HL7 message server independently interoperable from existing HIS to generate HL7 messages, and design an XML database schema suitable for storing and manipulating such data. We also propose a new DTD for efficient transformation of HL7 messages to XML documents for storage saving as well as supporting patient-oriented information retrieval.
The view mechanism provides users with appropriate portions of database through data filtering and integration. In the Web era where information proliferates, the view concept is also useful for XML, a future standard for data exchange on the Web. This paper proposes a method of implementing XML views called XML view indexing, whereby XML view xv is represented as an XML view index(XVI) which is a structure containing the identifiers of xv's underlying XML elements as well as the information on xv. Since XVI for xv stores just the identifiers of the XML elements but not the elements themselves, when a user requests to retrieve xv, its XVI should be materialized against xv's underlying XML documents. Also an efficient algorithm to incrementally maintain consistency of XVI given a update of xv's underlying XML documents is required. This paper proposes and implements data structures and algorithms for XML view indexing. The performance experiments on XML view indexing reveal that it outperforms view recomputation for repeated accesses to the view, and requires as much as about 30 times less storage space compared to XML view materialization though the latter takes less time for repeated accesses to the view due to no need of materialization.
The purpose of the present investigation was to investigate diversity patterns in Mt. Neungdong forested landscape. It was conducted on twelve sloping plots $(100{\times}100 m)$ in the east and west sides of Mt. Neungdong. A total of 2,157 specimins were identified as trees with a diameter at breast height (DBH) ${\geq}$10 em. There were a total of 135 species of 35 families present in both regions of Mt. Neungdong. Least significant differences (LSD) by post hoc analysis revealed that region A had significantly greater densities than region B. Shannon-Wiener functions differed significantly between forests (F=4.12, < 0.05), with region B forest having a significantly higher value (2.118) than region A (1.882). Pinus thunbergii and Quercus aliena were dominant on most plots of both regions, however, the P. densiflora forest of region A was distributed better in the middle plots exposures compared to the opposite ones. Q. aliena, Q. mongolica, and Carpinus laxiflora largely occupied the middle and lower exposures of region B. The spatial distribution in Neungdong's forest was very heterogeneous and reflected by most species as having micro-climate and patchy distributions.
