Evaluation of Static Strength of Mixed Stud Shear Connection in Double Composite Bridges (이중합성 교량의 복합스터드 전단연결부의 정적강도 평가)

  • A railway bridge with a double composite section is proposed to enhance the structural performance of existing two-girder bridges because the governing design parameter of railway bridges is the flexural stiffness. The concrete deck in negative moment regions is neglected in the design of continuous composite bridges assuming the concrete slab has no resistance to tension. Therefore, the flexural stiffness of the composite section in the negative moment region is reduced resulting in the increase of the depth of the steel section. In order to resolve this disadvantage, several methods are suggested and the double composite section is one of the excellent solutions for extending the span length and increasing the flexural stiffness. In this study, push-out tests on lying studs and mixed stud shear connection with lying and vertical studs were performed to investigate the behavior of the shear connection in the double composite section. Static strength of the shear connection was evaluated through the test results and numerical analyses.

Synthesis of Double-walled Carbon Nanotubes Using Decomposition of Tetra Hydro Furan (Tetra Hydro Furan 열분해를 이용한 이중벽 구조 탄소나노튜브의 합성)

  • High-quality double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWNTs) were synthesized without defects and amorphous carbonaceous particles by catalytic decomposition method at $800^{\circ}C$ in high yield. As-synthesized carbon materials almost consist of DWNT bundles with a diameter 12 - 20 nm.. The DWNTs rope have uniform diameter about 2 - 5 um and length up to several tens micrometer. DWNTs is inner tube diameter 0.9 - 1.5 nm and outer tube 1.6 - 2.2 nm. We investigate the crystallinity of DWNTs by TEM and Raman spectroscopy. We also found that the Fe-Mo bimetallic catalyst was active as a very efficient catalyst for the synthesis of DWNTs with the catalyst decomposition method. Our results also indicate that Tetra Hydro Furan (THF) is a very ideal carbon source for the synthesis of DWNTs.

Temporary Stresses by Applying Construction Methods for Continuous Steel-Concrete Double Composite Box Girder Bridges (이중합성 연속 박스거더교에 대한 가설공법별 발생 단면력 검토)

  • Construction techniques for continuous steel bridges were applied to steel-concrete double composite box girder bridges. Concrete depth and length at the bottom of the steel box in the negative moment region were determined by plastic moment region and negative moment region of the double composite section, respectively. Construction methods, such as crane lifting method, free cantilever method, and incremental launching method were used for the analysis of the construction stage. Two cases of the construction phase were considered and analyzed for the stress resultant of double composite girders. The behavior of the nose-deck elastic system was examined by three-dimensionless parameters, such as the nose length, the unit weight of the launching nose, and the flexural stiffness of the nose. The adoption of the launching nose has become an effective solution in the incremental launching of steel-concrete double composite box girder bridges.

Behavior of Negative Moment Region of Continuous Double Composite Railway Bridges (이중합성 2거더 연속 철도교의 부모멘트부 거동)

  • This study proposes a double-composite section to enhance the s serviceability of twin-girder railway bridges, especially in terms of the flexural stiffness of the composite section in negative-moment regions. This paper deals with experiments on continuous twin-girder bridge models with 5m-5m span length with the proposed double-composite action. From results of static tests on the bridge models, several design considerations were investigated including effective width, shear connection and ultimate strength of the double-composite concrete slab showed full shear connection, which verified the suggested empirical equation. From the flexural behavior of the double-composite section, the effective width of the bottom concrete slab can be evaluated as that of the concrete slab under compression. The ultimate flexural strength of the bridge models verified the validity of the rigid plastic analysis of the double-composite section. Design guidelines were suggested based on the test results.

  • Flexural design of double composite box girder over the interior pier for three-span continuous bridge was performed by the LRFD method. The maximum span length of the continuous bridge ranged from 80m to 120m and the relative ratio of the span length was assumed to be 1:1.25:1. The girder section was designed for the strength limit state and service limit state with additional design check for constructibility. Before the bottom concrete and compression flange showed a complete composite action, the buckling of lower compression flange was checked. The flexural stiffness and flexural resistance characteristics for the section and for the constituent members such as tension flange, compression flange, and web were analyzed for different thicknesses of the bottom concrete on top of the compression flange. The effect of the distribution ratio of steel between the top and bottom flanges was investigated by analyzing ductility behavior and stress distribution through the girder's depth for several different relative area ratios of steel between the top and bottom flanges. It was found that a total amount of 15% of steel can be saved by applying the double composite system compared with that of the conventional composite system.

  • In this Paper, we Propose synthetic aperture technique for twin-line may. Sin91e-line way is required long aperture size in order to achieve high SNR and angular resolution in shallow water Ultra low frequency signal from far-field has left-right ambiguity at sing1e-line array. To resolve these Problems, we'd like to adopt the synthetic aperture technique to twin-line array. The synthetic aperture method adopts coherent processing of sub-aperture signals at successive tine intervals in the beam domain. The proposed method shows low nile error and improved angular resolution. In simulation result, average sidelobe level is reduced about 7〔dB〕when the array Peformed 5-synthesis.

  • For FH/SS communication, We discussed the method of indirect frequency synthesizer in several methods. The problem of sing1e frequency synthesizer using with PLL is a varied coefficient value of damping factor in frequency hopping time, which is caused unstable frequency. So. for stable frequency synthesizer, a coefficient of damping factor must be optimized and synthesized to be removed excessive response time. In this paper, we studied FH using with double loop frequency synthesizer which takes stable frequency. We made up a simulator and had a good performance(real time speed).

A Reliable Field Emission Performance of Double-Walled Carbon Nanotube Field Emitters (이중층 탄소나노튜브 전계전자 방출원의 신뢰성 있는 전계방출 특성)

  • We investigated the field emission characteristics from the planar field emitters made of double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs) synthesized by a catalytic chemical vapor deposition (CCVD) method. Transmission electron microscopy, Thermogravimetric and Raman analysis showed that the carbon materials have a low defect level in their atomic carbon structure, pointing to the synthesis of high-purity DWCNTs. For field emission properties of DWCNTs, the turn-on field of DWCNTs was $1.9\;V/{\mu}m$ and the current density was about $74\;mA/cm^2$ at $8.1\;V/{\mu}m$, which is sufficient for the applications of field emission displays and vacuum microelectronic devices. The DWCNT field emitters also exhibited a uniform field emission pattern and good field emission stability in a diode configuration.
