Effects of Numerical Formats and Frequency ranges on Judgment of Risk and Inference in the Bayesian InferenceTask (숫자양식과 빈도범위가 베이스 추론 과제에서 위험판단과 추론에 미치는 영향)

  • We examined risk judgment and the accuracy of inference based on two kinds of probabilities in a Bayesian inference task: the death probability from a disease (base rates) and the probability of having a disease with positive results in the screening test (posterior probabilities). Risk information were presented in either a probability or a frequency format. In Study 1, we found a numerical format effect for both base rate and posterior probability. Participants rated information as riskier and inferred more accurately in the frequency condition than in the probability condition for both base rate and posterior probability. However, there was no frequency range effect, which suggested that the ranges of frequency format did not influence risk ratings. In order to find out how the analytic thought system influences risk ratings, we compared the ratings of a computation condition and those of a no-computation condition and still found the numerical format effect in computation condition. In Study 2, we examined the numerical format effect and frequency range effect in a high and a low probability condition and found the numerical format effect at each probability level. This result suggests that people feel riskier in the frequency format than in the probability format regardless of the base rates and the posterior probability. We also found a frequency range effect only for the low base rate condition. Our results were discussed in terms of the dual process theories.

  • 러시아와 한국간의 공식적인 접촉은 1990년 6월 샌프란시스코에서 개최된 정상회담이다. 동년 9월 뉴욕에서 개최된 양국의 외무장관 회담에서 러시아와 한국의 외교관계가 수립되었다. 그간 양국간에는 협정을 통한 협력의 법적기반이 조성되었는데 주요 분야를 보면 무역, 투자보장, 어업, 이중과세방지, 군사기술분야, 원자력의 평화적 이용, 문화교류에 관한 협정들이 있다. 역시 양국간의 주요 관심사항은 무역과 경제협력 분야이다. 2007년도 러시아와 한국의 무역액은 150억 달러를 초과함으로써 전년도에 비해 55.5% 증가하였다. 러시아의 한국으로의 수출은 약 70억 달러로서 전년도에 비해 52.6% 증가했고 한국으로부터의 수입은 80억 달러를 초과함으로써 전년도에 비해 56.1% 증가하였다. 그리하여 러시아는 한국의 10대 교역국으로 성장하였다. 가스와 오일 프로젝트 추진과 관련하여 사할린지역에서 사용하기 위해 한국으로부터 수입하는 드릴기계장비, 탱커, 자동차, 휴대전화는 한국과 러시아 양국간 경제성장의 주요요인이 되고 있다. 2008년 1/4 분기 양국간 무역액은 42억 달러를 초과했는데 이는 전년도 동기와 비교해서 72.1% 증가한 것이다. 이 중 한국에의 수출은 17억 달러를 초과했는데 이는 전년도 1/4분기에 비해 91.7% 성장한 것이다. 한국으로부터의 수입은 약 25억 달러로서 전년도 1/4 분기와 대비해서 60.6% 성장했다. 러시아와 한국간의 경제교류가 크게 증대하게 된 배경에는 러-한경제과학기술협력공동위원회가 큰 역할을 담당했다. 이 논문에서 필자는 무역과 투자측면에서 본 양국간 경제협력의 특징을 고찰하는 한편 러시아의 동부지역(러시아 극동 및 바이칼횡단지역)과 한국과의 협력과 관련된 역동성과 과제를 제시하는데 연구의 목적을 두었다. 한국은 외국기업과 함께 러시아 극동지역의 무역과 경제협력 증진에 상당한 공헌을 함으로써 러시아 극동경제권에서 주요 무역파트너가 되고 있다. 또한 본 연구에서는 한국과 러시아간의 주요 협력프로젝트에 관하여 고찰하는 한편 앞으로의 전망을 제시하였다. 이 문제는 무엇보다도 한-러간의 공동 에너지프로젝트 및 에너지자원의 무역과 관련되어 있다. 한국과 러시아는 이미 많은 분야에서 상당한 정도로 상호 협력관계를 발전시켜왔다. 여기에는 정책, 에너지, 경제, 문화, 과학기술 분야가 포함되어 있다. 현재 러시아와 한국간에는 에너지 분야에서의 전략적 대화채널 구축에 관한 문제와 함께 연료 및 에너지공단 건설과 관련하여 협력문제가 논의되고 있다. 에너지 분야에서의 전략적 대화개념 구축을 위해서는 전략, 예측 및 투자환경의 문제가 양국간에 집중논의 되어야 하고 법제상의 조화문제도 논의되어야 한다.

A review on urban inundation modeling research in South Korea: 2001-2022 (도시침수 모의 기술 국내 연구동향 리뷰: 2001-2022)

  • In this study, a state-of-the-art review on urban inundation simulation technology was presented summarizing major achievements and limitations, and future research recommendations and challenges. More than 160 papers published in major domestic academic journals since the 2000s were analyzed. After analyzing the core themes and contents of the papers, the status of technological development was reviewed according to simulation methodologies such as physically-based and data-driven approaches. In addition, research trends for application purposes and advances in overseas and related fields were analyzed. Since more than 60% of urban inundation research used Storm Water Management Model (SWMM), developing new modeling techniques for detailed physical processes of dual drainage was encouraged. Data-based approaches have become a new status quo in urban inundation modeling. However, given that hydrological extreme data is rare, balanced research development of data and physically-based approaches was recommended. Urban inundation analysis technology, actively combined with new technologies in other fields such as artificial intelligence, IoT, and metaverse, would require continuous support from society and holistic approaches to solve challenges from climate risk and reduce disaster damage.

Family Values and Caring Work of Single-Person Households in Ulsan: A Case Study (울산시 1인가구의 가족가치관 및 돌봄노동에 대한 사례연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to understand family changes and dynamics of and to suggest institutional/policy-level tasks for coping with them, by paying attention to changing family values of single-person households and their caring work performed in everyday life. This study selected 11 single-person households residing in Ulsan by considering their age and marital status, and analyzed their overall daily lives, family values, and the characteristics of household work and caring. The characteristics of these single-person households in Ulsan, not only showed the coexistence of "simplicity, but instability" when maintaining and living their own lives, but also showed the ambivalent characteristics of family values by showing a gap between the perception and reality of diversity. In regard to family life, the participants complained of difficulties in "caring and relationship of family of origin" and the "economic factors", and notably showed the "dual value system". For a more stable life, the single-person households were forming social networks to relieve a sense of isolation and loneliness, and to recover relationships, instead of limiting themselves to only the traditional method of family formation. Thus, it would be possible to respond to family changes when changes are promoted in each area of "the perception of life", "family life", and the "family & social relationship", and this research suggests policy-level tasks based on the results of this study.

Fifty years of economic geography in Korea:research trends and issues (한국경제지리학 반세기:연구성과와 과제)

  • The purpose of this study is to review research trends and issues of economic geography in Korea for the last fifty years by sub-fields of agricultural geography, industrial geography, commercial and service geography, and transportation geography. Research in Korean economic geography has progressed significantly in terms of the scope and the number of papers published during the last a half a century. Agricultural geography was a leading field of economic geography in Korea before mid-1970s. Since the mid-1970s, however, agricultural geography has turned over the leading role in economic geography to industrial geography. Classification and structure of agricultural region has been the most popular research theme in Korea, even though diverse topics has been dealt in the research of agricultulal geography in Korea during the last fifty years. In recent years, emphasis is given to study on the dynamics of agricultural region and regional differentiation of part-time farming. It is suggested that the future issues of research in agricultural geography in Korea are agricultural restructuring and changes in agricultural space under the WTO system, changes in rural area and agricultural region with the progress of informatization, changes in agricultural structures and rural society by the increase of part-time farming, governments agricultulal policy and its impacts, competitive advantages of Korean agricultulal products, and environmental impacts of agricultural restructuring. Research in industrial geography has remarkably progressed since the 1980s. Locational changes, regional industrial structure and formation of industrial region were the major topics of interest in the research of industrial geography in Korea before 1980. Since the early 1980s, in addition to the topics which were interested in before 1980, changes of industrial organization and industrial location, changes of production systems and industrial space development of high technology industries and science parks, industrial restructuring and regional economy, foreign direct investments, industrial linkages and industrial districts, and industrial policy and regional development have been the major research themes of industrial geography in Korea. Considerable number of papers has been published both in Korean journals and in foreign journals during this period. Considering global changes in the organization of industrial space, future research should be more focused on firms strategy for regaining competitive advantages, local and global perspectives of industry, industry and environmental changes, in addition to the topics which have been dealt in recent years. Research in commercial and service geography and transportation geography was negligible in Korea before the late 1970s. These two sub-fields in economic geography have begun to develop since 1980s. Periodic markets, structure of commercial area, and distribution of products were the major topics of interest in the 1980s in the commercial and service geography in Korea. In the 1990s, however reserch in producer services has been active with growth of producer services in Korean economy. It is suggested that regional changes with progress of informatization and technology, changes of international trade and regional changes, development of efficient distribution system, role of producer services in regional development, and network of producer services are the major issues to be studied in the future in the field of commercial and service geography in Korea. Commuting, distribution of products, and transportation networks have been the major topics of research in transportation geography in Korea. Diverse quantitative techniques have been applied in the most of the researches in transportation geography. It is required that future studies in transportation geography should also focus on societal and behavioral issues, policy issues regional impacts of new transportation facilities, an analysis of transportation system at the global or international level. Since the 1980s economic geography in Korea has considerably progressed with publication of papers and books. The progress can be regarded as successful in quantitative aspect, but not in quantitative aspects. For the development of Korean economic geography in both quantitative and qualitative aspects, it is necessary to promote international collaborative researches and interdisciplinary cooperations. Attention should also be given to the research on changes in competitive advantages and economic restructuring, changes of economic space with the development of high technology and the progress of informatization. economic development and culture. and foreign regional studies.

  • A variety of risks caused by natural, technological and biological hazards threaten a business continuity of an organization. Business continuity is very important issue for all organizations and its proper management may control success and failure of an organization. Business continuity plan (BCP) may be defined as a management process which provides a business continuity. BCP includes risk management, operational continuity plan, response/ recovery, exercise/study and crisis communication, etc. Risk management is a systematic method to identify, analyze, evaluate and treat emergency risks and risk assessment is composed of identifying, analyzing and evaluating emergency risks. Risk assesment is the first step for making BCP. In this study, risk assessment has been conducted for sewer laying project. Through assessing risks, 18 risks that may threaten the construction operation are identified and it is founded to be that high levels of risks which require treatment are 'collapse of excavation surface', 'breakage of ground infra-facilities', 'noise & dust dispersion' and 'rise of material costs'.

Development of a National R&D Knowledge Map Using the Subject-Object Relation based on Ontology (온톨로지 기반의 주제-객체관계를 이용한 국가 R&D 지식맵 구축)

  • To develop an intelligent search engine to help users retrieve information effectively, various methods, such as Semantic Web, have been used, An effective retrieval method of such methods uses ontology technology. In this paper, we built National R&D ontology after analyzing National R&D Information in NTIS and then implemented National R&D Knowledge Map to represent and retrieve information of the relationship between object and subject (project, human information, organization, research result) in R&D Ontology. In the National R&D Knowledge Map, center-node is the object selected by users, node is subject, subject's sub-node is user's favorite query in National R&D ontology after analyzing the relationship between object and subject. When a user selects sub-node, the system displays the results from inference engine after making query by SPARQL in National R&D ontology.

Formulation and Characterization of Lipase Loaded Poly(D,L - lactide-co-glycolide) Nanoparticles (리파아제가 함입된 락타이드-글리콜라이드 공중합체 나노입자의 제조 및 특성)

  • The preservation of biological activity of protein drugs in formulation is still a major challenge for successful drug delivery. Lipase was encapsulated in poly (D,L-lactide- co-glycolide) PLGA nano-particles using a w/o/w solvent evaporation technique. The lipase-containing PLGA/poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) nanoparticles were characterized with regard to morphology, size, size distribution, lipase-loading efficiency, in vitro lipase release, and stability of lipase activity. The size of nanoparticles increased as polymer concentration was increased. The size of particles was not significantly affected by the PVA concentration; on the other hand, the particle size distribution was the narrowest when 4% of PVA was used. In optimum conditions, we possessed nanoparticles that characterized 72.5% of encapsulation efficiency, $198.3{\pm}13.8 nm$ size diameter. During the initial burst phase, the in vitro release rate was very fast, reaching 83% within 12 days. Until days 6, enzyme activity increased as the amount of lipase released was increased.

  • 과거 한국의 식품 오염원 중 법적인 규제 등을 통해 구체적인 통제가 이루어지지 못하고 있는 것이 축산물의 항생제로 알려져 항생제 오 남용으로 인한 내성균의 출현으로 비상이 걸렸던 적이 있었다. 요즘은 항생제를 지나치게 많이 사용해 가축이나 인체 내의 병원성 미생물들이 내성이 생겨 문제가 되고 있어 2011년 7월부터 가축용 사료에 항생제 첨가가 금지하게 된다. 한국은 항생제 내성률 1위로, 2000년 세계보건기구(WHO)에 따르면 대표적 항생제인 페니실린에 대한 폐렴구균의 내성률이 70%로 세계 1위이다. 어느 보고서에 따르면, 축산물 1톤을 생산하는 데 사용되는 항생제가 스웨덴이나 뉴질랜드, 덴마크 등 축산 선진국이 31~44g에 불과한데 비해 한국은 911g에 이른다. 투여 경로는 배합사료에 포함된 양이 54%, 농가의 임의 치료가 40%, 수의사 처방은 겨우 6% 순으로 나타났다. 그러나 OECD 회원국 중 수의사 처방 없이 항생제의 임의 투여를 허용하고 있는 나라는 한국뿐이다. 세계보건기구(WHO)에서는 가축사료에 항생제를 첨가하지 말 것을 권장하고 있으며, 유럽연합(EU)도 항생제는 반드시 수의사의 처방에 의해서만 사용토록 제한하고 있다. 최근 국립수의과학검역원에 의하면, 축산용 항생제 사용량이 2008년에 비해 18%, 2001년에 l해 무려 38%가 감소되었으며, 이중 닭은 20%, 소의 항생제 사용량은 36%가 감소하였다고 밝혔다. 사육 가축들의 항생제 오남용을 줄이기 위해서는 사료에 첨가하는 항생제나 성장호르몬, 비소 투여 등의 투여 대신에 미생물 생균사료나 녹차사료, 한약재사료 등의 천연면역물질을 함유한 사료를 먹여 스트레스를 덜 받고 면역력 증강에 좋은 사료를 먹여 키운 건강한 가축으로 생산한 육류는 맛도 특별히 좋다. 본 자료의 대부분은 금년부터 3년간 농촌진흥청 국립축산과학원과 중국청도농업대학과 "고품질 축산물생산을 위한 중약제를 이용한 질병방지체제 연구"라는 과제로 공동협력연구를 수행하게 됨에 따라 지난 11월 4일부터 10일까지 필자가 중국 청도농업대학을 방문하여 세미나시 발표한 자료임을 밝혀두며, 국내 수의학 연구에도 도움이 되고 저 소개한다.

Analysis of Gait Velocity, Stance time on Obstacle and Dual Task Gait in Elderly Women with LBP (요통 여성 노인의 장애물과 이중 과제 보행 시 속도 및 입각기 시간 분석)

  • Purpose : This study was to evaluate gait velocity and stance time on 5 conditions in elderly women and elderly women with LBP. The subjects were 70's generation. Methods : The subjects are 20 divided into 2 groups. They measured gait velocity, stance-time. The 5 conditions were normal gait, 10cm obstacle gait, 25cm obstacle gait, dual 10cm obstacle gait, dual 25cm obstacle gait. The experimental period was between 2008/12 and 2009/2. Statistical analysis was used Repeated measurement for difference between conditions, independent t-test for difference in two groups. Subjects were countdown from 50 during dual task gait. Results : The results were as follow: there were significantly difference 10cm obstacle velocity, dual 10cm obstacle velocity in two group. The others were not significantly differences. Velocity and stance-time were significantly difference in control group. In dual 25cm obstacle gait, velocity was difference of normal gait. Stance-time was difference in 25cm obstacle gait, and dual 25cm obstacle gait. In Experimental group, velocity and stance-time were not significantly difference. But measured value of velocity was gradually decreased and stance time was increased. Conclusion : These results indicate that elderly people with LBP women are reduced gait ability in dual task, and obstacle condition. So they need to prevent falling in dual task, and obstacle gait and to train obstacle/dual tak gait.
