The Relationship among Participation Motivation, Flow, and Problem Gambling in Bicycle Racing: Moderated Mediation Effect of Visit Frequency (경륜 장외발매소 이용자의 도박동기, 몰입, 문제도박과의 관계에서 이용빈도의 조절된 매개효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the path of the motivation, the flow, and problem gambling and intervention points. To this end, we verified the mediation effect of the motivation of the users outside sales offices influences the problem gambling through a flow and the moderated mediation effect of the frequency of the use of a bicycle racing tracks in that process. A total of 411 cases were analyzed using surveys conducted for one day on a weekday and weekend (September 13th and 15th 2018) for adults using an outside sales office in Jangan. According to the analysis, the causality of gambling by gambling motivation(amusement, excitement, avoidance, society, money) showed its effect positively by mediating the flow. The adjusted effect of the frequency of the use on the intermediary effect of the motivation ${\rightarrow}$ flow ${\rightarrow}$ problem gambling behavior, which is the main concern of this study, was found to be statistically significant. More specifically, the effect of adjusting the frequency of the use was statistically significant in both paths: motivation/flow and flow/problem gambling. It was also shown that, in the model with excitement, avoidance and social motivation, the adjustment of the frequency was only significant in the causal relationship between the flow and problem gambling. Based on these findings, this study made clinical and policy suggestions for intervention for gamblers and user protection regulations.

A Study on Use Motivation of SNS and Communication Behavior (SNS의 이용동기와 커뮤니케이션 행동에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore how use motivation of SNS influences communication activity and SNS media engagement. The major findings are as follows. First, three Factors are identified from the result of scale purification through exploratory factor analysis(EFA) on use motivation of SNS. Three factors of SNS use motivation are information/knowledge acquisition motivation (IKAM), communication/relationship maintaining motivation(CRMM), opinion/information presenting motivation(OIPM). It is found that a significant difference on CRMM between sex. Second, CRMM and OIPM are statistically significant to communication activity. Third, IKAM and CRMM are statistically significant to SNS media engagement.

Self-archiving Motivations across Academic Disciplines on an Academic Social Networking Service (학술 소셜 네트워킹 서비스에서의 학문 분야별 연구자의 셀프 아카이빙 동기 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to compare motivations for self-archiving across disciplines on an academic social networking site. We carried out an online survey with ResearchGate(RG) users, testing 18 motivational factors that we developed from a previous study (enjoyment, personal/professional gain, reputation, learning, self-efficacy, altruism, reciprocity, trust, community interest, social engagement, publicity, accessibility, self-archiving culture, influence of external actors, credibility, system stability, copyright concerns, additional time, and effort). We adapted Biglan's classification system of academic disciplines and compared motivations across different categories of discipline. First, we compared motivations across the four combined categories by the two dimensions - hard-pure, hard-applied, soft-pure, and soft-applied. We also performed a motivation comparison across each dimension between soft and hard disciplines and between pure and applied disciplines. We examined investigated statistical differences in motivations by demographic characteristics and RG usage of participants across categories as well. Findings showed that there were differences of motivations, such as enjoyment, accessibility, influence of external actors and additional time and effort, and personal/professional gains, for self-archiving across disciplines. For example, RG users in the hard-applied were more highly motivated by enjoyment than others; RG users in the soft-pure were more highly motivated by personal/professional gains than others. It is expected that findings could be used to develop strategies encouraging researchers in various disciplines contributing to share their data and publications in ASNSs.

Exploring Users' Motivation in Using Small Library (작은도서관에 대한 이용자의 이용 동기 탐색)

  • A small library can be used as a place of cultural communication and educational experience for members of the local community that can fill the gaps of public libraries. In this study, the motives of users of small libraries were investigated. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 45 users of small libraries, and their perceptions from their experiences were classified into four categories, 'attention', 'relevance', 'confidence', and 'satisfaction', and each factor was investigated. Small libraries showed that effective analysis, management, and design of factors related to the four motive classifications could further improve the opportunities of local community residents to find small libraries.

  • What follows in this research is the examination of the consumer motives that lead to the usage of smartphones, how the consumers can be categorized by such motives, and how each category of consumers behave differently when using their smartphones. The finding of this research is as follows. First, the result of factor analysis showed that there are four underlying dimensions in consumers. Second, The result showed that consumer can be categorized into three different types, "Other conscious consumers", "Consumers with no specific motives", and "Function pursuing consumers". Third, multi-regression analyses were performed to identify variables that impacted consumers' satisfaction and technostress in the use of smartphone consumers.

Exploring the Motivational Use of Special Libraries from a User's ARCS Perspective (이용자의 ARCS 관점에서 본 전문도서관 동기적 이용 탐색)

  • This study reports on the motivational use of special libraries from a user's perspective that investigated four motivational components: attention, relevance, confidence, and satisfaction (ARCS) of the library users. Even though special libraries received relatively little attention compared to public libraries, special libraries could fill the niche of public libraries for the special and specific needs of the community in the current library environments in South Korea. Qualitative data were collected through individual interviews and forty people participated in the project. The findings of this study show the four themes (ARCS) that users need motivation as a way to start using a special library, thereby staying focused and revisiting the library. It is possible that the ARCS model will contribute to the implementation, application, and practice of both special libraries and their services in the library environment. The results are expected to expand our knowledge on the motivational ARCS use of special libraries and to serve as basic data when designing motivational strategies and plans of the systems for special libraries.

  • 본 연구는 e-Learning이 오프라인 교육으로 대변되는 기존의 전통적인 교육 매체를 대체할 가능성 내지는 오프라인 교육과의 상호 보완적인 역할 가능성에 대해 연구함으로써 e-Learning 산업의구체적인 발전 방향을 찾아보고 이에 따른 향후 성장 가능성을 살펴보기 위하여 , 기존의 전통적인교육 매체 수용자의 특성과는 다른 양상을 나타낼 e-Learning 이용자의 특성에 대해 연구해 보고자한다. 이를 위해 e-Learning을 교육 매체로서 선택하는 대학생들을 대상으로 e-Learning을 이용하는 동기와 e-Learning 이용 행태, 그리고 e-Learning 이용에 따른 만족도를 살펴보고자 한다.

Content Creation and Flow: Why They Clik or Create UCCs (콘텐츠 창조와 플로우:동영상 UCC 이용 동기)

  • This study looks at motivations of video UCC users as a member of creative class. A qualitative research method was used for analyzing data collected by interviews. Killing time users, active clickers and creators are distinguished as different types of UCC users and their differing motivations are explored. The findings of the study are as follows: First, information sharing, self presentation, communication needs, ease of use for self presentation, usefulness are expressed as motivating factors for both active clickers and creators, Pleasure motivates every type of users. However, content creators experience a specific type of pleasure which is the pleasure of creativity or flow, which this study highlights as a key driving factor for content creators. The study adds to the findings of UCC user research which applies the TAM and the PAD model by revealing what pleasure and flow specifically mean for different types of UCC users.

Structural Modeling Study on MZ Generation's Motivation to Use Hotels (MZ 세대의 호텔 이용동기에 관한 구조 모델링 연구 )

  • In this study, the MZ generation's perceived motivations for using hotels were divided into room, cleanness, subsidiary facilities, employee, and price. In addition the impact of the MZ generation's motivation(facilities, cleanliness, convenience facilities, staff, price) for using hotels on user attitudes was analyzed. In the case of the MZ generation, this study also analyzed whether user attitudes toward hotels affect their intention to reuse. The results of this study are as follows. First, among the MZ generation's motivations for using hotels, room, cleanness, subsidiary facilities, employee, and price were found to have a positive effect on user attitudes. Next, the user attitude of the MZ generation was found to have a positive effect on reuse intention. Finally, this study suggests to provide theoretical and practical implications based on the research results to help develop hotel service strategies suitable for the MZ generation.

The Impact of SNS Advertising Attribute on Advertising Likeability and Purchase Intention: A Comparison of Difference According to Use Motive and Use Intensity of SNS (SNS 광고속성이 광고호감도와 구매의도에 미치는 영향: SNS 이용동기 및 이용강도에 따른 차이 비교)

  • This study investigated experimentally how factors of SNS advertising attribute impact on advertising likeability and purchase intention according to use motive and use intensity of SNS. Firstly showing difference according to use motive of SNS, in user of motive to managing human relation, reliability of advertising contents has effect the largest and entertainment of advertising interest has effect also as important factor. In user of motive to sharing interest information, irritation of advertising on using SNS has effect the largest negatively and information of advertising's information offering capability has effect larger as positive factor. Next showing difference according to use intensity of SNS, in user of high intensity, reliability and information of advertising contents has effect larger than other factors. In user of low intensity, irritation of advertising has effect the largest negatively and other factors have effect very small. This results can provide a practical contribution that explains important factors in producing effective SNS advertising according to using behavior characteristics of SNS.
