초등학교 영양교사 직무설정을 위한 직무중요도 및 난이도 조사 (A Survey on the Perceived Importance and Difficulty to Set up the Job Duties of Nutrition Teachers in Elementary School)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the needs of educators, learners and parents in elementary schools for implementing a systematic nutrition education program by nutrition teachers to begin in 2006. The subjects were 833 dietitians, 808 principals, 3,141 teachers, 7,577 students and 6,003 parents in elementary schools. A fairly large proportion of the principals (98.4%), teachers (95.5%), parents (96.6%) and students (62.8%) responded that nutrition education is urgently needed. Every dietitian, principal and teacher has recognized that for the enforcement of a nutrition program in the future, the placement of one nutrition teacher in every school is needed without a moment's delay. Many subjects responded that elementary low grades are the most proper time for nutrition education for students and it is also needed to extend this not only to students, but also parents and teachers who have a direct influence on them. In the education hour, they responded that it is proper one hour a month for teachers and one hour a week for students. Fifty-six percent of dietitians, 58.3% of principals and 67.0% of teachers responded that the best educational way to heighten the effect of nutrition education was education through discretional activities. It was found that 46.4% of students have wanted nutrition education to be enforced during special activities. Education through their school homepage or in-school broadcasting system, while it has been most utilized, was low in a degree of preference with 10.9%. In regards to a nutrition program, principals and parents have attached much importance to the dining etiquette, dietary attitudes, and relations of foodstuffs with health, while dietitians and teachers have made much of a balanced eating habit, and the relations of dietary life with health. Finally, for a nutrition program to be enforced towards a direction that the educators and students want, it is judged that first of all the role of nutrition teachers is the most important, furthermore the support of manpower and the budget should be made.

충남 일부 농촌지역 주민들의 농부증에 관한 조사 (Farmers Syndrome and Their Related Factors of Rural Residents in Chungnam Province)

  • To investigate the actual states of farmers syndrome and their related factors, the author surveyed a total of 534 rural residents, resided in Puyeo kun, Chungnam Province, during August 1996. The data were collected from members of an association and their families of agricultural co-operatives, and analysed. Following are the results summarized therefrom; 1. The prevalence rate of farmers syndrome as a whole was 36.7%, but that of female was higher as 45.0% than male as 27.4%. 2. The prevalence rates of farmers syndrome were higher in the group of higher age, shorter education years, longer farming careers, and longer daily farming hours. 3. The prevalence rates of farmers syndrome did not show statistically significantly different among groups of farming categories such as specialize in farming, such as side line, and not farming. 4. Sex, age, and daily farming hours were proved to be a related factors of farmers syndrome by logistic regression analysis. Odds ratio of female group was 2.06 compared with male group, above 70 years age group was 6.24 compared with below 40 years age group, and group of farming more than 8 hours a day was 2.55 compared with not farming group. 5. The mean scores of self-estimated health states of the group with farmers syndrome was lower than those with negative or suspicious farmers syndrome, but the mean scores of psychological symptoms, other than symptoms of farmers syndrome was statistically significantly higher in farmers syndrome group. Consequently, farmers syndrome seems to be not disease entity but symptom complex which is highly related with age and sex. For that reason, there is a need of study on the differentiate the farmers syndrome and chronic musculoskeletal diseases in the aged.

일부 농어촌과 도시 청소년들의 식행동 특성 및 식품기호도 (Food Behaviors and Food Preferences of the Teenagers in Urban, Fishing, and Rural Areas)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the food behaviors and food preferences of teenagers by regional groups. The subjects were composed of 365 third grade students in middle schools from urban, rural and fishing areas in Kyungpook province. The data was collected by using a survey questionnaire. The results of the study are summarized as follows: Eating habits of 21-47% of the subjects, according to the regions, were poor and female students in large city showed the best eating habits while female students in fishing village showed the poorest eating habits. Out of the three regional groups studied, the subjects from the fishing villages had the highest rates of skipping meals and eating between meals. Out of all the people investigated, thirty to forty percent had unbalanced diets, the highest percentage coming from the urban areas and the lowest from the fishing villages. All together an allergic reaction to food was the highest in the fishing villages' subjects and female students were more sensitive compared to the male students. Students from the urban area had higher frequency of symptoms of lactose intolerance. Upon the investigation of the subjects 'food preferences, they preferred boiled rice to any other rice as a staple food. Cha jang myun was the most preferred out of all noodles and breads. It was found that teenagers preferred one course meal such as fried rice to a rice-centered regular meal. Out of all various meat soups, beef soup and beef-rib soup were preferred the most. As for subsidiary foods the most preferred were soybean paste stew and cuttlefish stew which they ate daily. There was a very high preference for fried foods, the most favored being pork cutlet followed by fried vegetables, sweet potatoes, and minced meat. The most preferred cooked vegetables were bean sprouts and seasoned cucumber. Seasoned cubed radish roots were the most preferred kind of kimchi. For desserts there was a very high preference for the following fruits: apples, plums, strawberries, and oranges. For beverages the most popular choice were chocolate drinks followed by orange juice, apple juice, milk and tomato juice. According to these investigations, most teenagers liked daily foods which they are used to. The study showed that on the whole the teenagers had poor eating habits. A problem that needs immediate attention is that female students and students from the fishing villages have a high rate of skipping meals. It is expected that the results of this food preference test of teenagers could be useful in the meal planning of middle school lunch programs in the future.

심혈관계 위험요인수준 추정을 위한 지역사회 역학연구 (Distribution and Prevalence Estimation of Cardiovascular Risk Factors through Community Based Health Examination Survey)

  • Cardiovascular disease is very prevalent in Korea, and many risk factors, if properly identified are possibly corrected. However, the study results on prevalence and distribution of risk factors may not be reliable while the risk factors of disease are always issued on health promotion projects conducted recently in a community. The subjects of this study were 854 adults who participated in the health and nutrition survey in a community. They were aged between 20 and 69 and sampled representatively. This study intended to estimate the prevalence and the distribution of risk factors of cardiovascular disease such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hypercholesterolemia, and obesity. Systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure levels were estimated at $123.9{\pm}2.2mgHg(men)$, $117.9{\pm}1.7mgHg$(women), and $80.4{\pm}1.5mg(men)$, $74.9{\pm}1.1mgHg(women)$, respectively. Glucose level was estimated at $99.1{\pm}2.3mg/dl$ in men, and $95.7{\pm}1.7mg/dl$ in women. The estimated level of total cholesterol and HDL-cholesterol were $183.4{\pm}3.8mg/dl(men)$, $181.7{\pm}3.1mg/dl(men)$, and $122.0{\pm}4.5mg/dl(women)$, and body mass index was estimated at $24.0{\pm}0.4kg/m^2$ in men and $23.9{\pm}0.4kg/m^2$ in men and $23.9{\pm}0.3kg/m^2$ in women. The prevalence of hypertension was 20.5% for men, and 14.4% for women. The prevalence of diabetes mellitus was estimated to 6.9% for men, and 6.1% for women. The estimated prevalence of hypercholesterolemia was 3.8%(men), 3.9%(women). The rate of obesity was estimated to 28.5%(men), 28.4% (women), respectively. The levels of blood pressure, glucose, and cholesterol were higher in men than in women in almost all the almost ate groups. The prevalence of hypertension for men is about 20%. It was found that the prevalence of diabetes mellitus for males aged between 40 and 59 was rapidly increased. The risk factor with highest prevalence was obesity, and hypertension and diabetes mellitus were the second and third most prevalent.

단기간의 식이섬유 첨가물의 섭취가 인슐린 비의존성 당뇨병 환자의 당질대사에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Short-Term Feeding of Dietary Fiber Supplements on Glucose Metabolism in Subjects with Non-Insulin-Dependent Diabetes Mellitus)

  • 인슐린 비의존성 당뇨병 환자를 대상으로 식이섬유 섭취량을 증가시키기 위한 방법으로서 병원에서 처방된 식사에 더하여 일일 5g의 식이섬유를 포함하는 콩가루 비스켓(15명, 대조군), 20g을 포함하는 비지 비스켓(9명 , 불용성 고식이섬유군) 또는 25g을 포함하는 다시마 비스켓(10명, 수용성 고식이섬유군)을 2주 동안 첨가 섭취시킨 후 당질대사 개선효과를 평가하였다. 실험기간 중 당뇨병 환자들의 일일 열량 섭취량은 세군간에 유의한 차이가 없었고, 하루 실제로 섭취한 평균 총 식이섬유량은 대조군이 $19.1\pm4.3g(13.8\pm8.0g/1000kca1),$ 비지 비스켓군이 $32.5\pm4.1g(19.7\pm3.8g/1000kcal),$ 다시마 비스켓군이 $38.1\pm5.5g(24.5\pm4.5g/1000kcal)이었다.$ 비지 비스켓과 다시마 비스켓의 2주간 섭취 후 공복시 고혈당의 하강폭이 대조군에 비해 유의하게 컸으며 (p<0.05), 경구 포도당 부하 후의 내당능도 뚜렷하게 개선되었다(p<0.05). 경구 포도당 부하검사 및 글루카곤 자극검사를 통해 관찰한 바 혈청 인슐린과 C-peptide 수준 및 혈장 글루카곤의 농도는 2주간의 고식이섬유 첨가물의 섭취에 의해 변화를 보이지 않았다. 당화혈색소 수준은 2주간의 식이 섬유 첨가물 섭취 후에 다소 감소 경향을 보였으나 유의한 변화로는 판정되지 않았고 일일 요당의 배설량은 세군 모두에서 비스켓 섭취전에 비해 유의하게 감소되었다(p<0.05). 2주 동안의 식이섬유 첨가 섭취가 인슐린 비의존성 당뇨병 환자의 당질대사에 긍정적인 효과를 미치는 것으로 관찰되었으므로 비지와 다시마 첨가물이 당뇨병의 식사요법에서 유용한 고식이섬유 식품 첨가물로서의 가능성이 있는 것으로 판단된다.

노인요양시설 종사자들의 구강보건 지식정도와 노인구강건강관리에 대한 인지정도 연구 (Elderly Convalescence Facility Workers' Knowledge About Oral Health and Subjective Oral Health Care is the Degree of the Elderly)

  • 본 연구는 노인요양시설 종사자들을 대상으로 구강보건지식 및 인지도를 파악하기 위하여 경기도지역 노인시설 종사자 233명을 대상으로 자기기입식 설문지를 작성하게 하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 조사대상자의 구강보건지식의 문항별 응답은 '칫솔질할 때 혀도 닦아야 한다'가 97%로 가장 높은 정답률을 보였다. 2. 구강보건행태에 따른 구강보건지식정도에서는 정기적 치과방문이 6개월마다 방문한다고 응답한 대상자가 높게 나타나 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였다(p<.05). 일일 칫솔질 횟수에서는 4회 이상 칫솔질을 한다고 응답한 대상자가 구강보건지식이 높게 나타났으며 통계적으로도 유의한 차이를 보였다(p<.05). 3. 구강보건 지식정도는 전체 평균은 13점 만점에 9.84점으로 전체적으로 구강보건지식수준이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 하위영역에서는 일반적인 구강보건지식이 4점 만점 중 3.69점, 노인성 구강보건지식인 6점 만점에 4.28점, 의치구강보건지식이 3점 만점에 1.86점으로서 일반적인 구강보건 지식이 가장 높은 것으로 나타났다. 4. 노인구강보건관심에 따른 구강보건지식정도는 관심이 많다고 응답한 대상자가 구강보건지식정도가 높게 나타나 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였다(p<.001). 5. 조사대상자의 노인구강보건관리 및 교육요구도 에서는 교육이 필요하다는 응답이 83.7%, 불필요하다는 응답이 16.3%로 나타났다. 6. 노인구강보건관리 및 교육은 치과위생사가 하는 것이 적합하다라는 응답이 57.9%로 가장 많았고 구강보건지식정도도 치과위생사가 되어야 한다고 인지한 대상자가 높은 것으로 나타났고 통계적으로도 유의한 차이를 보였다(p<.05)(Table 7). 이상의 결론을 정리해 보면 시설종사자들에게 노인구강 보건관리에 대한 일반적인 구강보건지식을 교육시킬 필요가 있으며 더불어 보다 전문적이고 체계적인 노인구강 건강관리서비스를 제공하기 위하여 치과위생사를 노인시설에 적극적으로 배치시키는 일들에 대한 적극적인 검토가 필요하다고 생각한다.

맥문동 유수추출물이 NGF의 mRNA발현과 단백질 분비에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Water Extract of Liriope platyphylla on the mRNA Expression and Protein Secretion of Nerve Growth Factors)

  • Liriope platyphylla has been though as an useful medical plant to improve the cough, sputum, neurodegenerative disorders, obesity, and diabetes in Korea and China from old times. In order to investigate the effects of Liriope platyphylla on expression and secretion of nerve growth factor (NGF), the mRNA expression and protein secretion were detected in the neuronal cell (B35) and neuroglial cell (C6) cultured with three differences concentration (5%, 10%, 15%) of Liriope platyphylla. In MTT assay and FACS anslysis, the some death of some B35 and C6 cells were observed in 15% extract-treated group, while other groups did not induce the death. Also, the mRNA expression of NGF were significantly increased in 5% and 10% extracts treated-group. Furthermore, the NGF protein concentration in supernatant collected from cultured cells showed the very similar pattern with mRNA expression. In order to verify the activity of secreted NGF, the culture supernatant collected from B35 and C6 cells cultured with Liriope platyphylla extracts for 24 hrs were treated into undifferentiated PC12 cells, and the differentiation level of PC12 cell were also observed with microscopes. The differentiation level of PC12 cell were significantly increased depend on the dose of extract. Therefore, these results suggested that the water extracts of Liriope platyphylla may contribute the regulation of NGF expression and secretion in the neuronal cell and be considered as an excellent candidate for a neurodegenerative disease-therapeutic drug.

고암심신환(古庵心腎丸)이 methotrexate로 유발된 SD Rat의 면역기능저하에 미치는 영향 (Immunostimulating Effect of Goamshimshinhwan on Methotrexate-induced Immunosuppressed SD Rats)

  • In order to investigate the effect of Goamshimshinhwan(GASSW) on SD rats with deteriorated immunity caused by methotrexate. Methotrexate was fed to the SD rats once a day for 4 days. After the immune responses of the at a dosage 1,000, 500 and 250mg/kg/10ml. and the changes on body weight and gains, spleen weight, total blood leukocyte numbers, total lymphocyte numbers, the percentage of B-cell, T-cell, CD3+CD+4 T-cell, CD3+CD8+ T-cell and CD4+/CD8+ T-cell ratios in the bolld and spleen were observed. In addition, the serum IL-2 levels and productivity of IL-2 of splenic cells were also demonstrated in this study. The changes on body weight were increased significantly in 100 and 500mg/kg of GASSW groups and the changes on body gain were increased significantly in 1000mg/kg of GASSW groups as compared with control group. The changes on the spleen weight (absolutely or relatively) were increased significantly in all GASSW groups as compared with control group. The total blood leukocyte numbers were increased significantly in 1000 and 500mg/kg of GASSW groups as compared with control group. The total lymphocyte numbers were increased significantly in all GASSW groups in the blood and increased significantly in 1000 and 500mg/kg of GASSW goups in spleen as compared with control group. The percentage of B-cell and T-cell were increased significantly in 1000mg/kg of GASSW groups in the blood and increased significantly in 1000 and 500mg/kg of GASSW groups in spleen as compared with control group. The percentage of CD3+CD4+ T-cell and the serum IL-2 levels and productivity of IL-2 of splenic cells were increased significantly in 100 and 500 mg/kg of GASSW groups in the blood and spleen as compared with control group. The percentage of CD3+CD8+ T-cell were increased significantly in 1000mg/kg of GASSW groups only in spleen as compared with control groups. The CD4+/CD8+ T-cell ratios were increased significantly in 1000 and 500mg/kg of GASSW groups only in the blood as compared with control group. Goamshimshinhwan(GASSW) has immuno-stimulating effect on SD rats with deteriorated immunity caused by methotrexate.

지역사회 노인의 신체기능 평가도구 개발 (The Development of Physical Functioning Scale for Community-Dwelling Older Persons)

  • Objectives : To develop a physical functioning instrument for older adults living in the community. Methods : A representative sample of 979 people aged 65 years or over were interviewed in-person. Of these, 199 people also completed a detailed in-hospital examination. The scale items were selected based on the frequency of endorsement, along with the item-total and inter-item correlations. The associations of the scale with their physical performance and clinical examination were analyzed to evaluate the criterion-related validity. Construct validity was assessed using factor analysis, and internal consistency through Cronbach's alpha and item-total correlations. Test-retest reliability was measured by agreement between the household survey and the repeat survey at the in-hospital examination. Results : Initially, 23 items on the level of difficulty, ranging from no difficulty to an inability to complete a task, with the specific mobility and self-care tasks were included. Those with a high frequency of endorsement and a low inter-item or item-total correlations were excluded, resulting in a 10-item Physical Functioning (PT) scale. Equal weights were given to each item and a summated score was calculated. Significant associations were found between the PF scores and the physical performance, surrey and clinical data. The scale revealed a 2-factor (mobility and self-care) structure. Cronbach's alpha was 0.92 and the item-total correlations were in the 0.63 to 0.78 range. Pearson's correlations for the test-retest ranged between 0.56 and 0.61. Conclusions : The newly developed Physical Functioning (PF) scale showed good psychometric properties in older people. Further work, however, is needed to improve its sensitivity to discriminate higher levels of functioning, in addition to assessing its predictive value in detecting changes in health.

학교급식 식재료 및 완제품 배송직원의 위생관리 실태 조사 (An Evaluation of Food Delivery Worker Sanitation Management Practices that Supply Food to School Foodservices)

  • 본 연구는 학교급식 식재료 (완제품)의 위생관리 실태와 구매실태를 파악하기 위하여 학교급식 식재료 (완제품) 납품업체 38곳의 배송직원 201명을 대상으로 위생지식수준, 위생관리 수행수준, 위생관리 현황을 조사하였다. 조사대상자는 30~39세가 41.3%, 배송경력 1~3년이 30.8%로 가장 많았고, 61.7%가 1~2회/년 위생교육을 받고 있었다. 새벽배송 학교 수는 응답자의 52.7%가 2개교로 가장 많았다. 위생지식은 3.75/7.00점으로 낮게 평가되었고, 작업장 위생관리에 대한 지식점수가 가장 높았으며, 개인위생 항목의 점수가 가장 낮았다. 자기차량으로 운행하는 직원의 위생지식 점수가 유의적으로 높았다. 위생관리 수행수준의 평균은 4.58/5.00점으로 높았으며, 검수관련 영역의 점수가 가장 높고, 배송차량 관리 영역 점수가 가장 낮았다. 육류 및 수산물 배송직원과 위생교육을 받는 직원의 위생관리 수행도가 더 높았다. 학교급식 식재료를 공급하면서 가장 어려운 점은 납품시간이었고 두 번째는 식재료 (완제품)의 온도관리였다. 따라서 영양 (교)사와 유통업체에서는 유통단계에서의 위생적인 식재료 (완제품) 관리를 위하여 배송직원을 대상으로 한 철저한 위생교육과 관리가 요구된다.
