User Modeling based Time-Series Analysis for Context Prediction in Ubiquitous Computing Environment (유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경에서 컨텍스트 예측을 위한 시계열 분석 기반 사용자 모델링)

  • The context prediction algorithms are not suitable to provide real-time personalized service for users in context-awareness environment. The algorithms have problems like time delay in training data processing and the difficulties of implementation in real-time environment. In this paper, we propose a prediction algorithm with user modeling to shorten of processing time and to improve the prediction accuracy in the context prediction algorithm. The algorithm uses moving path of user contexts for context prediction and generates user model by time-series analysis of user's moving path. And that predicts the user context with the user model by sequence matching method. We compared our algorithms with the prediction algorithms by processing time and prediction accuracy. As the result, the prediction accuracy of our algorithm is similar to the prediction algorithms, and processing time is reduced by 40% in real time service environment.

  • DECT(Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) is the communication protocol and the pico-cellular network that provides a PABX with mobile services on the local area within its cell radius of about 100 to 200m. Compared with GSM, DECT provides low-cost communication services based on the PSTN and it is an ideal supplementary method for the type of in-building mobile communication. In order to implement the data link communication layer of the DECT system, in this paper we analyzed and designed the structures and functions of it that provided reliable communication and real-time services to the upper network layer by performing the functions of link controls, error controls, sequence controls, and flow controls.

Object Detection using Multiple Color Normalization and Moving Color Information (다중색상정규화와 움직임 색상정보를 이용한 물체검출)

  • This paper suggests effective object detection system for moving objects with specified color and motion information. The proposed detection system includes the object extraction and definition process which uses MCN(Multiple Color Normalization) and MCWUPC(Moving Color Weighted Unmatched Pixel Count) computation to decide the existence of moving object and object segmentation technique using signature information is used to exactly extract the objects with high probability. Finally, real time detection system is implemented to verify the effectiveness of the technique and experiments show that the success rate of object tracking is more than $89\%$ of total 120 image frames.

Cell ID Detection Schemes Using PSS/SSS for 5G NR System (5G NR 시스템에서 PSS/SSS를 이용한 Cell ID 검출 방법)

  • This paper presents cell ID (cell identity) detection schemes using PSS/SSS (primary synchronization signal/secondary synchronization signal) for 5G NR (new radio) system and evaluates the detection performance. In this paper, we consider two cell ID detection schemes, i.e. two-stage detection and joint detection schemes. The two-stage detection scheme consists of two stages which estimate a channel gain between a transmitter and receiver and detect the PSS and SSS sequences. The joint detection scheme jointly detects the PSS and SSS sequences. In addition, this paper presents coherent and non-coherent combining schemes. The coherent scheme calculates the correlation value for the total length of the given PSS and SSS sequences, and the non-coherent combining scheme calculates the correlation within each group by dividing the total length of the sequence into several groups and then combines them non-coherently. For the detection schemes considered in this paper, the detection error rates of PSS, SSS and overall cell ID are evaluated and compared through computer simulations. The simulation results show that the joint detection scheme outperforms the two-stage detection scheme for both coherent and non-coherent combining schemes, but the two-stage detection scheme can greatly reduce the computational complexity compared to the joint detection scheme. In addition, the non-coherent combining detection scheme shows better performance under the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN), fixed, and mobile environments.

  • In the integrated wired/wireless network which consists of the Internet and moving networks, multiple wireless links are used to connect a fixed host(FH) in the Internet to a mobile host(MH) in the moving network. For use in such an environment, we propose a scheme to overcome the TCP performance degradation due to the packet losses over the wireless links without losing the end-to-end TCP semantics. The proposed scheme in each mobile router(MR) allows to obtain the information regarding packet losses over the upstream wireless links based on the received packet sequence number and the ACK number. This information is delivered to the upstream router, which enables the upstream access router(AR) or MR to quickly retransmit the lost packets. The proposed scheme has the feature to quickly recover the packet losses incurred over the upstream wireless links and the performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated through simulation. It is shown that the significant performance gain can be obtained using the proposed scheme compared with the snoop mechanism which maintains end-to-end TCP semantics and does not require any additional features at the source and/or destination nodes.

New Method for Elimination of Comparator Offset Using the Fowler-Nordheim Stresses (Fowler-Nordheim 스트레스에 의한 MOS 문턱전압 이동현상을 응용한 비교기 옵셋 제거방법)

  • In this paper proposed a new method which adaptively eliminates comparator offsets using the threshold voltage shift by the Fowler-Nordheim stress. The method evaluates the sign of comparator offset and gives the FN stress to the stronger MOSFETs of the comparator, leading to offset reduction. We have used an appropriate stressing operation, named 'stress-packet', in order to converge the offset value to zero. We applied the method to the latch-type comparator which is prevalently used for DRAM bitline sense amplifier, and verified through experiments that offsets of the latch-type comparators are nearly eliminated with the stress-packet operations. We also discuss about the reliability issues that must be guaranteed for field application of this method.

  • In this paper, a moving object detection and face region extraction algorithm which can be used in video monitoring systems is presented. The proposed algorithm is composed of two stages. In the first stage, each frame of an input video sequence is analyzed using three measures which are based on image pixel difference. If the current frame contains moving objects, their skin regions are extracted using color and frame difference information in the second stage. Since the proposed algorithm does not rely on computationally expensive features like optical flow, it is well suited for real-time applications. Experimental results tested on various sequences have shown the robustness of the proposed algorithm.

Indoor Positioning System using Geomagnetic Field with Recurrent Neural Network Model (순환신경망을 이용한 자기장 기반 실내측위시스템)

  • Conventional RF signal-based indoor localization techniques such as BLE or Wi-Fi based fingerprinting method show considerable localization errors even in small-scale indoor environments due to unstable received signal strength(RSS) of RF signals. Therefore, it is difficult to apply the existing RF-based fingerprinting techniques to large-scale indoor environments such as airports and department stores. In this paper, instead of RF signal we use the geomagnetic sensor signal for indoor localization, whose signal strength is more stable than RF RSS. Although similar geomagnetic field values exist in indoor space, an object movement would experience a unique sequence of the geomagnetic field signals as the movement continues. We use a deep neural network model called the recurrent neural network (RNN), which is effective in recognizing time-varying sequences of sensor data, to track the user's location and movement path. To evaluate the performance of the proposed geomagnetic field based indoor positioning system (IPS), we constructed a magnetic field map for a campus testbed of about $94m{\times}26$ dimension and trained RNN using various potential movement paths and their location data extracted from the magnetic field map. By adjusting various hyperparameters, we could achieve an average localization error of 1.20 meters in the testbed.

  • In autonomous navigation of a mobile vehicle or a mobile robot, localization calculated from recognizing its environment is most important factor. Generally, we can determine position and pose of a camera equipped mobile vehicle or mobile robot using INS and GPS but, in this case, we must use enough known ground landmark for accurate localization. hi contrast with homography method to calculate position and pose of a camera by only using the relation of two dimensional feature point between two frames, in this paper, we propose a method to calculate the position and the pose of a camera using relation between the location to predict through perspective transform of 3D feature points obtained by overlaying 3D model with previous frame using GPS and INS input and the location of corresponding feature point calculated using KLT tracking method in current frame. For the purpose of the performance evaluation, we use wireless-controlled vehicle mounted CCD camera, GPS and INS, and performed the test to calculate the location and the rotation angle of the camera with the video sequence stream obtained at 15Hz frame rate.

Uplink Pilot Signal Design for Mobile Wireless Backhaul (이동무선백홀을 위한 상향링크 파일럿 신호 설계)

  • In this paper, an uplink pilot signal structure is proposed for millimeter wave(mmWave)-based mobile wireless backhaul. For the transmit diversity of two antenna ports, uplink pilot signals generated from the Zadoff-Chu sequence can be mapped in an interleaved mode or continuous mode on the frequency axis, and channel estimation algorithms are different depending on the pilot signal mapping schemes. Through a simulation under Rayleigh fading channel assuming a subway scenario, the interleaved mapping scheme showed no performance degradation compared to the continuous mapping scheme and the implementation complexity of the uplink channel estimator was reduced due to the interleaved mapping scheme.
