  • In this study, we examined the sense of tradition and cultural traditions which make up Japanese ubiquitous society. These include the traditional elements which affect the lives of contemporary Japanese people. In this research we looked for various media (mobile phones, blog, characters goods, cinema) which appeared in the traditional elements. The results of the study are as follows: The traditional elements which affect contemporary Japanese lives include modern devices such as use of anonymous "blogging", mobile phones "youth culture"(especially by males), and "cute" character vocabulary use (especially by females), while traditional values(yakuza, sumo, human relationships) are represented in Japanese cinema. Through this study, we have found the points where traditional Japanese culture and cultural sense have been reinterpreted and affected both directly and indirectly through modern media. This study contributes to cultural research by delineating the various stimuli to consider for successful content service adoption in a global setting, which can account for differential impacts across regions. The results not only help develop a sophisticated understanding of customer behavior theories for researchers, but they also offer useful knowledge to those involved in promoting culture content to potential purchasers.

  • Pesticide is used to protect the crops, but also become a cause of polluting the environment. Perform a risk assessment using physical and chemical properties, environmental fate and toxicity data in order to determine the pesticide registration. The aquatic model estimates pesticide concentrations in water bodies that result from pesticide applications to rice paddies and apple orchard. The used models are the PRZM, EXAMS and AGRO shell (PA5), Rice Water Quality Model (RICEWQ) and Screening Concentration In GROund Water (SCI-GROW). The residual concentration of water body was estimated using meteorological data, crop calendar and soil series of Korea. The chosen pesticides were butachlor, carbofuran, iprobenfos and tebuconazole. It has shown the potential that the RICEWQ is possible to predict residue level in water of butachlor and iprobenfos, because the maximum value in water monitoring data is lower than the peak concentration of the model, and the minimum value is lower than the average annual concentration of the model. But RICEWQ was insufficient to predict exposure concentrations in ground water. The estimated exposure concentrations of carbofuran in ground water is very higher than in surface water because of its low soil adsorption coefficient. Although tebuconazole were not detected in the water monitoring that means very low concentration, it is possible that the PA5 can be used to predict residue level in water.

  • The overall reaction rate of fuel cell is governed by oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in the cathode due to its slowest reaction compared to the oxidation of hydrogen in the anode. The ORR efficiency can be readily evaluated by examining the adsorption strength of atomic oxygen on the surface of catalysts (i.e., known as a descriptor) and the adsorption energy can be controlled by transforming the surface geometry of catalysts. In the current study, the effect of the surface geometry of catalysts (i.e., strain effect) on the adsorption strength of atomic oxygen on platinum catalysts was analyzed by using density functional theory (DFT). The optimized lattice constant of Pt ($3.977{\AA}$) was increased and decreased by 1% to apply tensile and compressive strain to the Pt surface. Then the oxygen adsorption strengths on the modified Pt surfaces were compared and the electron charge density of the O-adsorbed Pt surfaces was analyzed. As the interatomic distance increased, the oxygen adsorption strength became stronger and the d-band center of the Pt surface atoms was shifted toward the Fermi level, implying that anti-bonding orbitals were shifted to the conduction band from the valence band (i.e., the anti-bonding between O and Pt was less likely formed). Consequently, enhanced ORR efficiency may be expected if the surface Pt-Pt distance can be reduced by approximately 2~4% compared to the pure Pt owing to the moderately controlled oxygen binding strength for improved ORR.

  • By minimizing fluorescence interference phenomena, aequorin-based luminescence technology can provide a relatively sensitive detection platform with integration of $G{\alpha}16$ protein in order to track internal calcium mobilization by G protein-coupled receptors (GPCR). In this type of cell-based functional assay format, it is essential to optimize the transfection process of a receptor and $G{\alpha}16$ protein. For this study, corticotropin releasing factor receptor subtype 2(CRF2) was set as a model system to generate three stable cells with CRF2 and $G{\alpha}16$ in addition to transiently transfected cells under three different conditions. Agonist (sauvagine) and antagonist (K41498) responses in those cells were analyzed to develop the optimum transfection process. As a result, the effective signal ratio in the dose response experiments of sauvagine and K41498 were at least 10-fold higher (z'=0.77) in CRF2-$G{\alpha}16$ stable cells. For the transient transfection cells, stable expression of $G{\alpha}16$ prior to the CRF2 represented a two-fold higher signal (z'=0.84) than the other cases of transient transfection. In conclusion, for the utilization of transient transfection processes to develop a cell-based GPCR functional assay system, it is suggested to introduce various target receptors after stable expression of $G{\alpha}16$ protein.

  • Malicious codes have been widely documented and detected in information security breach occurrences of Microsoft Windows platform. Legacy information security systems are particularly vulnerable to breaches, due to Window kernel-based malicious codes, that penetrate existing protection and remain undetected. To date there has not been enough quality study into and information sharing about Windows kernel and inner code mechanisms, and this is the core reason for the success of these codes into entering systems and remaining undetected. This paper focus on classification and formalization of type target and mechanism of various Windows kernel-based attacks, and will present suggestions for effective response methodologies in the categories of, "Kernel memory protection", "Process & driver protection" and "File system & registry protection". An effective Windows kernel protection system will be presented through the collection and analysis of Windows kernel and inside mechanisms, and through suggestions for the implementation methodologies of unreleased and new Windows kernel protection skill. Results presented in this paper will explain that the suggested system be highly effective and has more accurate for intrusion detection ratios, then the current legacy security systems (i.e., virus vaccines and Windows IPS, etc) intrusion detection ratios. So, It is expected that the suggested system provides a good solution to prevent IT infrastructure from complicated and intelligent Windows kernel attacks.

  • Data of the carbon monoxide concentration observed in Mt. Waliguan in China (WLG), Ulaan Uul in Mongolia (UUM), Tae-ahn Peninsula in Korea (TAP), and Ryori in Japan (RYO) were analyzed for a long period between 1991 and 2004. The annual average concentration of carbon monoxide was the highest at TAP $(233{\pm}41ppb)$ followed by $RYO(171{\pm}36ppb),\;UUM(155{\pm}26ppb),\;and\;WLG(135{\pm}22ppb)$. The seasonal variations being high in spring and low in summer were observed in other areas of Eastern Asia except WLG. TAP was high in carbon monoxide concentration in all seasons compared to WLG, UUM and RYO and shows wide distribution of concentration in the histogram, which is caused by the influence of large-scale air pollution due to its downwind location close to the East Asian continent, China in particular. Also, our data was compared with data measured at Mauna Loa (MLO) in Hawaii. According to the origin of the isentropic backward trajectory and its transport passage, carbon monoxide concentration observed in TAP was analyzed as follows: continental background airflows (CBG) were $216{\pm}47ppb$; regionally polluted continental airflows (RPC) were $316{\pm}56ppb$; Oceanic background airflows (OBG) were $108{\pm}41ppb$; and Partly perturbed oceanic airflows (PPO) were $161{\pm}6ppb$. The high concentration of carbon monoxide in TAP is due to the airflow from East Asian continent origin rather than that from the North Pacific origin. Especially, RPC which passes through the eastern China appeared to be the highest in concentration in spring, fall, and winter. However, OBG was affected by the North Pacific air mass with a low carbon monoxide concentration in summer. The NOAA satellite images and GEOS-CHEM model simulation confirmed a large-scale air pollution event that was in the course of expansion from southeastern China bound to the Korean Peninsula and the Korea East Sea by way of the Yellow Sea.

  • This paper demonstrates the design and development of asset management systems suitable for the universities full of very various kind of assets. Universities consists of many departments, which have a multiplicity of many experimental. It is very difficult to record and manage assets with hands. In addition, the equipments are moving freely from one lab to another inside the school, which means it is tough to find the location of the assets and so some stuffs that are given lack attention are likely to disappear. So, these things occurring frequently in the university asset management environment should be considered in the design and embodiment of the asset management system. In the proposed system, location recognition of the assets is realized based on a route tracking method, so it is possible to detect the loss of the high priced assets and entrance, export, and lending of them are controlled efficiently. The system is likely to reduce the load of a manager responsible for asset management, because configured to decrease interventions of the manager in overall asset management process. Especially, the proposed system and implementation method will be suitable for small and medium-scale asset management, path tracking, history management.

  • This study presents the visualization of shape information based on Octree using 3D laser scanning. The process of visualization was established to construct the Octree structure from the 3D scan data. The scan data was converted to a 2D surface through the mesh technique and the surface was then converted to a 3D object through the Raster/Vector transformation. The 3D object was transmitted to the Octree Root Node and The shape information was constructed by the recursive partitioning of the Octree Root Node. The test-bed was selected as the steel bridge structure in Sungkyunkwan University. The shape information based on Octree was condensed into 89.3%. In addition, the Octree compressibility was confirmed to compare the shape information of the office building, a computer science campus in Germany and a New College in USA. The basis is created by the visualization of shape information for double-deck tunnel and it will be expected to improve the efficiency of structural health monitoring and maintenance.
