An Implementation of Large Scale JMS(Java Message System) for Transmission Time Minimization (JMS 메시지 송수신 시간의 최소화를 위한 대용량 메시지 송수신 플랫폼 구현)

  • Recently, message based data transmission plays an important role in modem computing systems. Especially JMS(Java Message Service) is one of the most popular messaging platform. However, because of its characteristics for maintaining reliability, if we want to use it for transmission of large scale messages in a distributed Internet environment by using a WAN connection which may not be robust enough, we need to employ a different method to minimize total transmission time of messages. We found the fact that the total time of message transmission heavily depends on size of a message. In order to achieve the ideal size of a message, we develope a novel mechanism and a system which finds the ideal size of a message and automatical1y control JMS applications for minimizing transmission time. Finally, we test the proposed mechanism and system using real-data in order to prove advantages and compared with the naive mechanism. As a conclusion, we showed that our proposed mechanism and system provide an effective way to reduce transmission time of large scale messages in distributed environment.

  • There has been a number of attempts to apply 3D CAD data created in the design stage of product life cycle to various applications of the other stages in related industries. But, 3D CAD data requires a large amount of computing resources for data processing, and it is not suitable for post applications such as distributed collaboration, marketing tool, or Interactive Electronic Technical Manual because of the design information security problem and the license cost. Therefore, various lightweight visualization formats and application systems have been suggested to overcome these problems. However, most of these lightweight formats are dependent on the companies or organizations which suggested them and cannot be shared with each other. In addition, product structure information is not represented along with the product geometric information. In this paper, we define a dataset called prod-X3D(Enhanced X3D Dataset for Web-based Visualization of 3D CAD Product Model) based on the international standard graphic format, X3D, which can represent the structure information as well as the geometry information of a product, and propose a translation method from 3D CAD data to an prod-X3D.

Mobility Management Method for Constrained Sensor Nodes in WoT Environment (WoT 환경에서 제한된 센서 노드의 이동성 관리 방법)

  • For Web-based applications in IoT environment, IETF CoRE WG has standardizing the CoAP. One of limitations of CoAP is that CoAP standard does not consider the mobility management of the CoAP sensor node. In this paper, we propose the mobility management protocol of CoAP sensor node by considering the characteristics of the constrained network. The proposed mobility management protocol supports for Web client to be transmitted the sensing data from CoAP node reliably while the CoAP sensor moves into different wireless networks. To do this, we designed the architecture with the separate IP address management of CoAP sensor node and presented the mobility management protocol, which includes the holding and binding mode, in order to provide the reliable transmission. Finally, the numerical analysis and simulation with NS2 tool have been done for the performance evaluation in terms of the handover latency and packet loss with comparing the proposed mobility management protocol with other the existing mobility management protocols. The performance result shows that the proposed mobility management can provide the transmission of sensing data without the packet loss comparing with the existing mobility management protocol reliably.

  • Inter-vehicular communication that propagates information without infrastructures has drawn a lot of interest. However, it is difficult to apply conventional ad-hoc routing protocols directly in inter-vehicular communication due to frequent changes in the network topology caused by high mobility of the vehicles. MMFP(Multi-hop MAC Forwarding) is a unicast forwarding protocol that transport packets based on the reachability information instead of path selection or position information. However, delivering public safety messages informing road conditions such as collision, obstacles and fog through inter-vehicular communication requires broadcast rather than unicast since these messages contain information valuable to most drivers within a close proximity. Flooding is one of the simplest methods for multi-hop broadcast, but it suffers from reduced packet delivery-ratio and high transmission delay due to an excessive number of duplicated packets. This paper presents two multi-hop broadcast protocols for inter-vehicular communication that extend the MMFP. UMHB(Unreliable Multi-Hop Broadcast) mitigates the duplicated packets of MMFP by limiting the number of nodes to rebroadcast packets. UMHB, however, still suffers from low delivery ratio. RMHB(Reliable Multi-Hop Broadcast) uses acknowledgement and retransmission in order to improve the reliability of UMHB at the cost of increase in transmission delay, which we show through simulation is within an acceptable range for collision avoidance application.

  • A mirror is a familiar tool for human beings who have been seeing themselves through it for a long time since it was created. As evolving Digital Technology, many approaches about digital mirrors which reflect not only the light, but also the information have been studied. Traditional mirrors on the wall do not need any special control to perform their automatic visual feedbacks, reflecting lights. On the contrary, digital mirrors can actively provide more information to the user than the traditional ones. In this paper, we propose an active digital mirror system of which functions are changed according to the user-mirror distance. First of all, we investigated users' behaviors on mirrors and categorized the interactions by user-mirror distance. Based on the previous result, we designed the user interface of the mirror, and developed a prototype which has three recognition modules: a distance measuring module using infrared sensor arrays, a user recognition module by computer vision technique, and a control perception module using infrared sensor grid. In addition, the next steps for improving the user-centered digital mirror system, and the possibility for developing a mirror-shaped computer system were suggested.

  • 전자식 안정기는 최근 에너지 절약 정책과 관련하여 조명기기분야의 관심의 대상이 되었고, 절전 효율이 높은 고품질의 전자식 안정기에 대한 연구 개발 및 보급이 점점 더 확대되고 있는 추세이다. 일반적으로 전자식 안정기는 수십 KHz의 고주파에서 형광등을 구동시킴으로써 빛의 깜박거림과 가청잡음이 없으며, 저주파(60Hz)에서 사용하는 재래식 안정기(choke coil 방식)에 비해 높은 절전 효과를 얻을 수 있다[1-4]. 특히, 빌딩 사무실의 경우 낮에도 창가의 형광등이 켜져 있어서 막대한 전력을 낭비하고 있는 실정이므로, 일조량에 따른 자동 전력 조절이 가능한 전자식 형광등의 출현이 기대되고 있다. 전자식 안정기의 보급 확대를 위해서는 절전 효과 뿐만 아니라, 품질 문제, 수명 문제등을 고려하여야 하는 바, 예를 들면 순간 점등으로 방전초기의 sputtering 현상에 의한 lamp의 수명 단축, 미소 입력전압 변동에 따른 급격한 광출력의 변화로 절전 효과의 상실과 이상동작에 의한 스위칭 소자의 파괴 현상, 고주파 스위칭시 발생되는 전력손실과 noise등에 대한 대책이 요구되고 있다. 이러한 점을 개선하기 위해 추가되는 회로는 전자식 안정기 시스템을 더욱 복잡하게 만들고, 경제적으로 원가 부담을 주기 때문ㅇ 고품질의 전자식 안정기를 보급하는데 어려운 점으로 부각되고 있다. 본 고에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 조광기능을 포함한 다양한 제어회로와 보호회로를 조광기능을 포함한 다양한 제어회로와 보호회로를 1 chip에 수용하는 고품질의 전자식 안정기 제어용 집적회로에 대해서 기술하고자 한다.되어 나아갈 기술의 조류에도 부합하는 형태라 하겠다. 그러나 이 방식은 기 언급한 바와 같이 분산처리를 관장하는 운영체계의 개발에 상당한 고전이 따르리라 보여지며, 또한 보다 상세한 연구가 선행되어야 하겠지만 개발된 상용의 통신 프로토콜로서는 병렬처리의 성능을 극대화 하기에는 여러가지 제약이 있을 것으로 예측된다.기기들이 어떻게 응용되고 있는지 살펴보기로 하자. real informations would be available.   • In this paper, we studied vehicle to vehicle (VTV) communication system using DSRC of 5.8 GHz bands. Nowadays, in the road traffic system is going intelligent and advancing, communication between driving vehicle is very important technology for ITS. We can contrive smoothness and safety traffic flowing by exchanging information about velocity, location, braking and driving condition of nearby vehicles. Therefore, we developed and verified the system which required for the communication among vehicles using DSRC technology of 5.8 GHz band hasa 1 Mbps data rate in the high mobility condition. For this, we developed DSRC modem, data link layer and logic link layer to make it possible that communication between vehicles of perfectly operation, and developed application service program for VTV communication. We performed to communication test in the general road and ascent road. In case of the general mad, obtained VTV communication results are more than number of 17 with in 300 m LOS coverage, and total communication time are $2.34{\sim]18.7$ msec that considered maximum 8-transaction. We blow that obtained results can be used VTV communication or the in areas form the feasibility road test as a function or various conditions. In the future, this system is very useful of advanced safety vehicle (ASV) and super smart vehicle system (SSVS) and so on.

Infrared-based User Location Tracking System for Indoor Environments (적외선 기반 실내 사용자 위치 추적 시스템)

  • In this paper, we propose ubiTrack, a system which tracks users' location in indoor environments by employing infrared-based proximity method. Most of recently developed systems have focussed on performance and accuracy. For this reason, they adopted the idea of centralized management, which gathers all information in a main system to monitor users' location. However, these systems raise privacy concerns in ubiquitous computing environments where tons of sensors are seamlessly embedded into environments. In addition, centralized systems also need high computational power to support multiple users. The proposed ubiTrack is designed as a passive mobile architecture to relax privacy problems. Moreover, ubiTrack utilizes appropriate area as a unit to efficiently track users. To achieve this, ubiTrack overlaps each sensing area by utilizing the TDM (Time-Division Multiplexing) method. Additionally, ubiTrack exploits various filtering methods at each receiver and utilization module. The filtering methods minimize unexpected noise effect caused by external shock or intensity weakness of ID signal at the boundary of sensing area. ubiTrack can be applied not only to location-based applications but also to context-aware applications because of its associated module. This module is a part of middleware to support communication between heterogeneous applications or sensors in ubiquitous computing environments.

  • High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC)/H.265 is a new video coding standard which is known as high compression ratio compared to the previous standard, Advanced Video Coding (AVC)/H.264. Due to achievement of high efficiency, HEVC sacrifices the time complexity. To apply HEVC to the market applications, one of the key requirements is the fast encoding. To achieve the fast encoding, exploiting thread-level parallelism is widely chosen mechanism since multi-threading is commonly supported based on the multi-core computer architecture. In this paper, we implement both the Tile-level parallelism and the Frame-level parallelism for HEVC encoding on multi-core platform. Based on the implementation, we present two approaches in combining the Tile-level parallelism with Frame-level parallelism. The first approach creates the fixed number of tile per frame while the second approach creates the number of tile per frame adaptively according to the number of frame in parallel and the number of available worker threads. Experimental results show that both improves the parallel scalability compared to the one that use only tile-level parallelism and the second approach achieves good trade-off between parallel scalability and coding efficiency for both Full-HD (1080 x 1920) and 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) sequences.
