Acoustic resonance by Inserting Anti-noise Baffle in the Tube Bank of Boiler of a Large Fossil Power Plant (대형석탄화력발전용 보일러 관군의 Anti-Noise Baffle 설치에 따른 음향공진)

  • This paper presents phenomena of vibration and noise due to acoustic resonance in tube bank of a large fossil power plant. The phenomena of acoustic resonance may arise when the vortex shedding frequency coincides with the acoustic natural frequency. In this system dominant frequency of vibration and noise was 37.5Hz. The $3^{rd}$ acoustic natural frequency calculated was 37.2 Hz. When the difference of vortex shedding frequency and acoustic natural frequency is within ${\pm}20%$, acoustic resonance could occur. If system is the state of acoustic resonance, vibration and noise become large. In order to prevent acoustic resonance, anti-noise baffle should be installed in the tube bank. In the case of installing baffle, we should consider the number of baffle and the effect of acoustic mode due to baffle extension length. To do this, we did acoustic mode analysis. After installing anti-noise baffle, acoustic resonance was disappeared and vibration magnitude and noise level was reduced dramatically.

  • This paper presents phenomena of vibration and noise due to acoustic resonance in tube bank of a power plant. Acoustic resonance is may arise when the vortex shedding frequency coincides with the acoustic natural frequency. At the resonance, the value of vibration in this system was 595 ${\mu}m$, p-p and the sound pressure level was maximum 103 dBA. And the resonance frequency was found to be 35 Hz. When the difference of vortex shedding frequency and acoustic natural frequency is within ${\pm}20%$, acoustic resonance is possible. In this system, the difference of these frequencies was 1.8%. We can evaluate the possibility of acoustic resonance by using damping parameter. We did eliminate acoustic resonance by installing baffle in tube bank. After installing baffle, the level of vibration and noise was reduced dramatically.

  • This paper presents a study on acoustic characteristics and sound generation mechanism of Cryptotympana atratas' songs which cause noise problems in summer days. The waveforms & FFT of Cryptotympana atratas' songs in nature were analyzed, and the actions of tymbals were visualized by the high speed camera. In order to know resonance frequency of the abdominal cavity of male Cryptotympana atrata, the sine sweep test was done. It was observed from the experimental results that Cryptotympana atrata's two tymbals act asymmetrically with respect to time & shape, and make a variety of frequencies every time it vibrates. It was also shown that Cryptotympana atratas' have a structure that cause resonances sounds only in a $7{\sim}7.5 kHz$ bandwidth.

  • 3-D linear acoustic analysis has been performed to elucidate damping characteristics of large Helmholtz acoustic cavities in FASTRAC combustor. Acoustic impedance concept has been introduced to quantify combustion stabilization capacity. For a given acoustic cavity, sonic velocity in cavity to achieve an optimal tuning has been determined and satisfactory agreement with the previous results has been obtained. Feasible estimation of sonic velocity in acoustic cavity has been devised. Results show similar trends without significant deviations, which can be used in the procedure of design and verification of acoustic cavity. From the satisfactory results, investigation of other combustors with acoustic cavities which have shown combustion instabilities will be done as future works.

  • 본 논문은 램프 점등을 위한 공진회로와 정상상태에서의 저주파수 구형파(low frequency square-wave) 인버터 전류 제어를 실현하는 HID 전자식 안정기에 풀브리지 인버터(FB)와 LC 필터를 제안한다. 점등은 LC필터의 공진주파수에서 풀브리지 인버터 제어에 의한 공진에 의해서 이루어지고, 점등 후에 회로는 풀브리지 제어에 의해 벅컨버터 저주파수 구형파 인버터로 동작한다. 점등이 일어나는 동안의 LC필터의 공진주파수는 ($f_o$=120kHz)이고, 고조파를 감소시키고 음향공명현상을 피하기 위한 벅컨버터스위칭 주파수($f_{sw}$=50kHz)를 선택하였다.

  • Backhole, which is one of geometric parameters in swirl coaxial injectors, is found to affect the inner flow motion and the acoustic characteristics of the swirl injector. In order to analyze the effect of the backhole as a damping device such as acoustic cavities of the combustion chamber, it was regarded as a Helmholtz or Quarter-wave resonator. As a result, it is known that the swirl coaxial injector with the backhole may produce the resonant frequency coincided with the frequency of the combustion chamber.

  • 이종 매질에서 초음파전달은 각 매질의 음향임피던스에 영향을 받는다. 초음파진동자로 사용되는 압전소자와 매질로 가장 많이 사용되는 물은 음향임피던스 차이가 크므로 경계면에서 투과율이 감소한다. 이를 개선하기 위해 압전소자와 물 사이에 음향정합층을 삽입하여 사용한다. 정합층은 1 layer로 사용되는 경우도 있지만, 넓은 대역폭을 요구하는 분야에서는 2 layer가 사용된다. 본 논문에서는 1 layer 정합층를 갖는 초음파 트랜스듀서에 대해 시간영역에서 해석하는 기법을 분석하였으며, 이를 근거로 매질 사이의 물리적 특성을 고려하여 2 layer 정합층을 갖는 초음파트랜스듀서를 해석하였다. 해석결과 2 layer 정합층일 경우 1 layer에 비해 공진주파수에서의 이득은 감소하였으나 대역폭이 증가됨을 알 수 있었다.

  • In the future engine with high performance, the gas-liquid scheme injectors will be adopted and the role of the injector as an acoustic resonator is investigated as an advanced study The injector can play a significant role in acoustic damping and the optimum length of the injector to maximize the damping capacity is calculated as a function of baffle length.

  • Due to the development of nondestructive testing techniques, methods of inspecting cracks in mechanical parts have drawn attentions. Among various non-destructive testing methods the acoustic resonance method which analyzes the natural frequencies has been developed into a technique suitable for the prompt judgements of the existence of the defects in the mechanical parts. In this study, we investigated the crack inspection technique to examine the cracks in the yoke tubes by using the acoustic resonance method and realized the system to quickly detect the cracks. A 24bit ADC circuit and an MCU were installed for the smooth data collection, and a TCP / IP communication interface was configured for the data communication with PC. We used a microphone as a sensor measuring the vibrations. We constructed an analysis software to obtain the frequency spectra of the vibrations, to find the existence of the cracks, and to feedback to the user. Tests were conducted using the yoke tubes manufactured in the real industrial field. The tests were successfully conducted to distinguish the good products from the defective (cracked) products and confirmed that they can be employed in the actual industrial field.

A Study on Damping Characteristic under the Thermo-acoustic Condition using the Rijke Tube (Rijke Tube를 이용한 열환경에서의 음향공 감쇠 특성연구)

  • A Rijke tube which has an electric heater and a flow controller was designed and thermo-acoustic instability was induced by the Rijke tube. The thermo-acoustic instability was damped by a resonator and the damping characteristics were investigated and compared to room temperature acoustic test. Results show that decay time of the thermo-acoustic condition was increased by about 40% compared to that of room temperature acoustic test.
