Correlation between Anterior and Posterior Corneal Astigmatism in Total Corneal Astigmatism (전체 각막난시에서 전면과 후면 각막난시의 상관성)

  • Purpose: To investigate the effect of anterior, posterior corneal astigmatism and total corneal astigmatism on posterior corneal astigmatism by analyzing correlation. Methods: Participants were 31 patients (31 eyes) without corneal disease at the age range of 22 to 28 who had visited hospital to receive corneal refractive surgery. The total corneal astigmatism and anterior and posterior corneal astigmatism were measured using a rotating scheimpflug camera before surgery. The magnitude of astigmatism was calculated with the difference between the meridian of the steep refractive power and the flat, and With-The-Rule and inverse astigmatism were divided according to the direction of the meridian that was the steepest. Results: The averages of total corneal astigmatism and anterior and posterior astigmatism were found to be $1.13{\pm}0.76D$, $1.51{\pm}0.84D$, and $-0.59{\pm}0.17D$. The magnitude of posterior corneal astigmatism was distributed between -1.0 D and -0.25 D in all the subjects, and when the magnitude of total corneal astigmatism was set as 100, the magnitude of anterior corneal astigmatism was $142.9{\pm}29.9%$. Total corneal astigmatism indicated the highest correlation with the magnitude of anterior astigmatism (y = 0.871x-0.184, $R^2=0.982$) and high negative correlation with posterior astigmatism (y = -2.974x-0.184, $R^2=0.698$). All the subjects' anterior and posterior corneal astigmatism was classified into With-The-Rule. Conclusions: Anterior and posterior corneal astigmatism in the subjects in their 20's showed the magnitude of -3.8 D in 0.2 D and -0.25 D in -1.0 D separately, and both anterior and posterior astigmatism indicated a high percentage of With-The-Rule.

Study on the Acceptance Level for Damage due to Underwater Noise from the Case Study of Field Measurement at Marphysa sanguinea Farm (바위갯지렁이 양식장 인접지역 계측 사례를 포함한 수중소음 피해인정기준에서 배경소음과의 차에 대한 문제점)

  • It is very difficult to clearly define the damages caused by blasting-induced noise and vibration, because the damages depend on, besides the level of noise and vibration, the response of the object, environmental conditions, subjective feeling, and mental condition. Especially, it is more difficult when the fish is concerned, because that experimental approach is not easy and that we lack of the reasonable criterion for the acceptance level of noise and vibration. In Korea, the acceptance level for damage due to underwater noise is 140 dB re $1{\mu}Pa$, and the difference from the underwater background sound level is defined as more than 20 dB re $1{\mu}Pa$. It is however, appropriate for continuous noise not for transient sound. The authors compared the relationship between vibration velocity and underwater noise measured from the test blasting around Marphysa sanguinea farm. This paper presents the measurement results and suggestions the acceptance level for damage due to underwater noise from explosive blasting.

Distribution of Irregular Wave Height in Finite Water Depth (유한수심에서의 불규칙파의 파고 분포)

  • This study is concerned with an analytic derivation of the probability density function applicable for wave heights in finite water depth using two different methods. As the first method of the study, a probability density function is developed by applying a series of polynomials which is orthogonal with respect to Rayleigh probability density function. The newly derived probability density function is compared with the histogram constructed from wave data obtained in finite water depth which indicate strong non-Gaussian characteristics. Although the probability density represents the histogram very well. it has negative density at large values. Although the magnitude of the negative density is small. it negates the use of the distribution function fer estimating extreme values. As the second method of the study, a probability density function of wave height is developed by applying the maximum entropy method. The probability density function thusly derived agrees very well with the wave height distribution in shallow water, and appears to be useful in estimating extreme values and statistical properties of wave heights in finite water depth. However, a functional relationship between the probability distribution and the non-Gaussian characteristics of the data cannot be obtained by applying the maximum entropy method.

Quality Characteristics of Commercial Breakfast Cereals (시판 Breakfast Cereals의 품질특성)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the quality characteristics of commercial breakfast cereals. The results showed that as water absorption index (WAI) increased, water soluble index (WSI) decreased. WSI has an effect on Bowl life, so Bowl life became longer as WSI enhanced. The size, shape and texture of breakfast cereals were also affective factors of their Bowl life. The quality describing terms of breakfast cereals were surveyed and the terms were classified to brittleness, roasted nutty taste, sweetness, hardness and aftertaste, especially brittleness was the most important quality determining terms among these. Significantly, sweetness had positive correlationship with roasted nutty taste. Overall eating quality had positively correlationship with color and roasted nutty flavor, and negatively with pain in mouth, adhesiveness and additive taste.

An Analysis of the Sound Propagation between Rooms with Different Mediums (서로 다른 매질을 갖는 격실사이의 음파전달해석)

  • In this paper, an analysis of sound propagation between two rooms with different mediums is discussed. Statistical energy analysis (SEA) is used to consider energy equilibrium among subsystems associated with the sound pressure levels in two rooms and the vibration level of the wall between rooms. Effect of the sound radiation from the structure-borne noise of the wall on sound pressure level of the receiving room is investigated. For a numerical example, sound propagation between engine room and water tank joined by a steel plate whose size is $8.4{\times}4$ m, is considered. It is found that when the critical frequency of the plate is above the frequency range of interest, the sound pressure level in the water tank is dominated by sound transmission through the plate, while sound radiation from the structure-borne noise of the plate is negligible except low frequency range below 63 Hz.

Influence of Cardiac Contraction and its Phase Angle with Coronary Blood flow on Atherosclerosis of Coronary Artery (심장의 수축운동과 관상동맥 혈류와의 위상차가 관상동맥 혈관의 동맥경화 민감성에 미치는 영향)

  • Coronary arteries are subjected to very different flow conditions compared to other arteries in systemic blood circulation. We Performed a computational fluid dynamic research to investigate influence of such flow conditions in coronary arteries on development and progress of atherosclerosis in the same. The results showed big differences in the flow field of the coronary artery compared to the abdominal and femoral arteries. The coronary artery showed higher wall shear stresses due to the small vessel diameter. On the other hand, it showed only one vortex distal to the stenosis throat during a whole pulse cycle. However. several vortices were observed in the abdominal and femoral arteries in both proximal and distal sides of the stenosis throat The wall shear stresses and extent of recirculation area were increased with impedance phase angle increasing toward more negative values. Therefore, cardiac contraction and the negative impedance phase angle as large as -110。 may induce a flow field that accelerates atherosclerosis.

  • MOSFET의 크기는 작아지고 다양한 소자열화 현상으로 신뢰성 문제가 나타나고 있다. 특히 CMOS 인버터에서 PMOS가 'HIGH'일 때 음의 게이트 전압이 인가되고 소자 구동으로 인해 온도가 높아지면 드레인 전류의 절대값은 줄어들고 문턱 전압 절대값과 GIDL전류가 증가하는 NBTI현상이 발생한다. 본 연구에서는 NBTI현상에 따른 열화 특성을 분석하였다. 측정은 드레인과 소스는 접지시킨 상태에서 온도 $100^{\circ}C$에서 게이트에 -3.4V과 -4V의 게이트 스트레스를 인가한 후 게이트 전압에 따른 드레인 전류를 스트레스 시간에 따라 측정하였다. 측정에 사용된 소자의 산화막 두께는 25A, 채널 길이는 $0.17{\mu}m$, 폭은 $3{\mu}m$이다. 게이트에 음의 전압이 가해지면 게이트 산화막에 양전하의 interface trap이 생기게 된다. 이로 인해 채널 형성을 방해하고 문턱 전압은 높아지고 드레인 전류의 절대값은 낮아지게 된다. 또한 게이트와 드레인 사이의 에너지 밴드는 게이트 전압으로 인해 휘어지게 되면서 터널링이 더 쉽게 일어나 GIDL전류가 증가한다. NBTI스트레스 시간이 증가함에 따라 게이트 산화막에 생긴 양전하로 인해 문턱 전압은 1,000초 스트레스 후 스트레스 전압이 각각 -3.4V, -4V일 때 스트레스 전에 비해 각각 -0.12V, -0.14V정도 높아지고 드레인 전류의 절대값은 5%와 24% 감소한다. GIDL전류 역시 스트레스 후 게이트 전압이 0.5V일 때, 스트레스 전에 비해 각각 $0.021{\mu}A$, $67{\mu}A$씩 증가하였다. 결과적으로, NBTI스트레스가 인가됨에 따라 게이트 전압 0.5V에서 0V사이의 드레인 전류가 증가함으로 GIDL전류가 증가하고 문턱전압이 높아져 드레인 전류가 -1.5V에서 드레인 전류의 절대값이 줄어드는 것을 확인할 수 있다.

A Study on the End Mill Wear Detection by the Analysis of Acoustic Frequency for the Cutting Sound(KSD3753) (합금공구강재의 절삭음 음향주파수 분석에 의한 엔드밀 마모 검출에 관한 연구)

  • The wear process of end mill is a so complicated process that a more reliable technique is required for the monitoring and controling the tool life and its performance. This research presents a new tool wear monitoring method based on the sound signal generated on the machining. The experiment carried out continuous-side-milling for using the high-speed steel end mill under wet condition. The sound pressure was measured at 0.5m from the cutting zone by a dynamic microphone, and was analyzed at frequency domain. The tooth passing frequency appears as a harmonics form, and end mill wear is related with the first harmonic. It can be concluded from the result that the tool wear is correlate with the intensity of the measured sound at tooth passing frequency estimation of end mill wear using sound is possible through frequency analysis at tooth passing frequency under the given circumstances.

Flow Field Measurement in Catalytic Converter-Comparison with Computational Fluid Dynamics Analyses (촉매 변환기의 내부 유동장 측정-CFD 해석과 비교)

  • The efficiency of a catalytic converter depends on the flow distribution across a system's chemically active substrate. If irregularities or non-uniform flow patterns exist, the system's conversion efficiency decreases, whereas the manufacturing cost increases. Therefore, it is important to analyze the internal flow of a catalytic converter. In this study, flow pattern measurements along the minor axis were recorded at the mid and exit planes of a ceramic honeycomb catalytic converter at flow rates of 37.8 l/s and 94.4 l/s. Flow distributions of the measurement plans were compared with an automotive company's computed velocity profiles. Measurements along the minor axis showed uneven velocity profiles. The ${\upsilon}$-velocity components between the honeycomb bricks were small but somewhat erratic opposite the intake side of the converter, however, they became flatter in measurements recorded near the intake entrance. For almost all velocity values, the computer model suggested velocities greater than the measured values.

Effects of the Instability of International Financial Market on Port Import from China in Korea (국제금융시장의 불안정성이 한국의 대중국 항만 수입에 미치는 영향)

  • This paper examines the relationship between port import from China and macroeconomic variables such as international financial crisis, exchange rate, and industrial production during the period 2000-2009. I employ GPH cointegration methodology since the model must be stationary to avoid the spurious results. The empirical results show that our model is stationary as well as mean-reverting. This paper also applies impulse-response functions to get additional information regarding the responses of the port import to the shocks economic variables such as financial crisis, exchange rate, and industrial production. The results show that the response of port import to exchange rate and financial crisis declines at the first and dies out slowly.
