The purpose of this study was to review the literature on music interventions with older adults and to analyze the rationale for the type of intervention and type of music selected. A search of KCI journals for research including older adults and music-based interventions identified 33 published articles, and 23 of these studies met the criteria for inclusion in this analysis. Included studies were analyzed in terms of the contents of the interventions and the appropriateness of the rationale reported for selecting the intervention and music. Each study was analyzed in terms of the relevance of the reported rationale to target goals and the characteristics of the study participants. The results showed that many of the included studies incorporated a variety of activities but failed to include a valid rationale for using those activities to achieve the target goals. Also, many of the studies tended to select music based on participants' preferences or perceived familiarity without thorough consideration of the therapeutic function of music in the given intervention. This study presents how music therapy interventions with older adults have been conducted without sufficient attention to the selection of the intervention and presented music. There remains a need to delineate which intervention and music characteristics should be utilized to obtain particular outcomes with specific populations.

During Khmer Rouge Regime, Cambodian pop music was completely forgotten since 90% of artists were killed. After recovering from war since 1979, the music started to grow again in 1990. However, Cambodian popular music dynamic and flows are observably directed by the multifaceted socioeconomic, political and creative forces. The major problems are the plagiarism and piracy which have been prevailing for years in the industry. Recently, the consciousness of the need to preserve Khmer original songs from both fans and artist have been increased and become a new trend for Cambodia young population. Still, the music quality is in the limit state. To increase the mind-set, the feedbacks and inspiration are needed. The study suggested a music ranking website using sentiment analysis which data were collected from Production Companies Facebook Pages' posts and comments. The study proposed an algorithm which translates from Khmer to English, doing sentiment analysis and generate the ranking. The result showed 80% accuracy of translation and sentiment analysis on the proposed system. The songs that rank high in the system are the songs which are original and fit the occasion in Cambodia. With the proposed ranking algorithm, it would help to increase the competitive advantage of the musical productions as well as to encourage the producers to compose the new songs which fit the particular activities and event.

This study aims to decrease aggressiveness and anger of neglected children through anger-control music program. In this study, 4 neglected children were provided with 15 anger-control music programs for 30 minutes twice a week. Based on anger-control program, song writing and music therapy such as playing musical instruments were applied to the children according to the objective of each stage of the program. The changes in aggressiveness and anger were measured, and the behaviors of the participants during the musical activity were analysed. According to the analysis of the data, the anger-control music program proved to be effective in reducing aggressiveness and anger of the neglected children. What this result means is that the neglected children, who lack social skills and confidence, are able to express their emotions without difficulty and anxiety by playing musical instruments and singing songs.

This thesis focuses on the five functions of film music as proposed by American composer Aaron Copland, and the application of these functions in the modern film Cinema Paradiso featuring music by Italian composer Ennio Morricone. Morricone has shown the application of these techniques in Western films such as the 1960s film A Fistful of Dollars and the top-rated 1980s films The Mission and Cinema Paradiso. Through his work, he maximizes the effects of representation in each scene by using variations of the theme music to effectively apply the functional theory of film music. Cinema Paradiso, especially, pursued the consistency and diversity of film at the same time. And it emphasized the specific atmosphere, intending to provide continuity in the scenes during the progress of the film. This thesis provides an understanding of the variation technique in film music, and the functionality of film music from scene to scene, as used by Morricone, for students majoring in film music.

본 연구는 기존의 미디어 연구 내에서 시각미디어에 비해 상대적으로 그 중요성이 간과되어 왔던 음악미디어에 대한 계보적 접근을 통해서 MP3의 사회문화적 의미를 고찰해보는 시론적 성격을 가진 연구다. 이러한 분석을 위해서 고립주의적인 미디어 연구와는 달리 미디어 사이의 상호관계적인 맥락에서 미디어를 파악하는 미디어 재매개 이론을 이론적 기반으로 해 MP3에 대한 분석을 시도한다. 이러한 연구의 결과로 본 연구에서는 음악미디어의 재매개 과정을 소리의 비매개성과 인터페이스의 하이퍼매개성이라는 이중 논리로 분석했다. 또한 음악미디어 재매개의 관행으로 이동성과 사사화라는 측면에서 MP3가 기존 음악미디어들이 가지고 있던 '이동성과 사사화'에 '밀도의 심화'를 가져왔다고 밝혔다. MP3의 시공간성은 음악미디어의 청각적 시공간성과 모바일 기기들이 가지는 모바일 시간성의 융합을 통한 '모바일 음악 시공간성'으로 개념화 했으며, MP3의 사회적 물질적 차원의 재매개를 통한 듣기 체계의 변화는 저작권 문제와 음악가들의 지위의 변화의 차원에서 고찰되었다.

본 논문에서는 실용음악학과를 지원하는 수험생들의 입시준비교육기관인 실용음악학원의 교육과정과 실태에 대하여 기술한다. 또한 영리 목적의 대형 실용음악학원들의 입시 프로그램과 다양한 세부전공 수험생들의 보편적 전략을 비교함으로써 입학 후 실기 곡 위주의 입시교육으로 인해 발생할 수 있는 신입생들의 전공실기 이수능력문제와 대학의 실용음악교육과정 운영상의 문제점을 분석한다. 아울러 일관성 있는 심화교육을 위하여 실용음악학원과 대학 상호간의 교육프로그램 연계와 실용음악학원의 단계별 입시프로그램을 제안하고자 한다.

이 논문은 실시간으로 취득되는 뇌파를 기반으로 자동으로 음악을 추천하는 음악추천 기능의 시스템인 MyMusicShuffler 를 소개한다. 이 시스템은 뇌파 분석을 통한 사용자의 감성을 자동으로 분류하는 방식으로 멀티태스킹 환경에 익숙한 사용자들의 음악 청취를 위한 소모적인 상호작용을 없애는 새로운 방식의 인터페이스 환경을 실험하였다. 뇌파의 분석을 통하여 실시간으로 사용자의 감성 관련 반응을 반영하여 음악을 선택하여 제공하는 시스템이다. 이 논문은 개인의 감성적 반응에 의하여 상호작용하는 음악 추천 서비스인 MyMusicShuffler 시스템의 구현 내용을 설명할 것이다.

현존하는 클래식 음악에는 음악적, 심리적 작곡약속이 있다. 작곡약속을 악식(樂式) 혹은 음악형식(音樂形式)이라고 한다. 즉, 모든 악곡은 일정한 형식에 의하여 작곡된다. 이러한 이유로 악곡에서는 어떤 특징적인 note관계가 규칙적으로 반복해서 나타난다. 이러한 특성은 note간의 관계가 어떻게 변화하는가에 따라서, 악곡 전체에서 segment의 시작과 끝으로 인식되어진다. 본 논문에서는 악곡의 분석을 위해 실제 악보를 컴퓨터 데이터 형식으로 표현하기 위한 SFCM(Score Format for Computer Music)을 정의하여, 악곡의 note를 분석해서 각 소절(measure)별로 대표음 집합을 추출할 수 있도록 하였다. 각 소절의 대표음 집합을 이용해서, note의 변화에 따른 schematic을 생성한다 schematic 생성과 분석을 위해 note-schema의 규칙과 형식을 정의해 놓은 CNSDB(Changing-Note Schema DataBase)를 제안한다. 이러한 데이터 베이스를 이용하여 특징적인 규칙을 찾아내고, 적용해 악곡에서 segment를 나눌수 있다. 본 논문에서는 1700년대의 클래식 음악에서 특히 잘 나타나는 규칙을 적용해서 분석하였다.

본 논문에서는 음악이 음악 아닌 다른 대상의 이미지나 분위기를 의미 있는 구조로 만들어주는 연상 작용을 전제로 하여 하나의 음악적 아이디어, 선율 라인, 또는 음악 스타일이 영화 속 캐릭터와 결합되는 예들을 실제 작품에 근거해 고찰하였다. 여기에 포함된 음악 자료는 1950년대를 전후한 미국 영화의 주요 작가들의 작품들로서, 영화의 결합력에 기여하는 음악이 주로 어떤 방식으로 특정 인물이나 집단, 상징적 의미 등을 캐릭터화 하는가를 분석하였다.

지금까지 음악 정보 검색을 위한 다양한 내용 기반 음악 검색 및 비교 방법이 제안되었다. 그런데, 기존 연구들은 질의 방식 및 검색 카테고리가 변화함에 따라 상이한 방법을 제시하고 있어 음악 검색 방법을 통합하는 데에 한계가 있다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해, 본고에서는 내용 기반 음악 검색의 일반화를 위한 내용 기반 음악 요소 검색(CBMER) 방법을 제안하였다. 제안 방법에서는 확률적 은닉 성분 분석(PLCA)을 사용하여 음원을 분해하고, 각 분해 요소로부터 오디오 특성을 추출하였다. 제안 방법을 사용하여 다양한 질의 방식 및 검색 카테고리로 내용 기반 음악 요소 검색이 가능함을 보이기 위해, 남성/여성의 목소리로부터 질의를 생성하여 목소리 성별에 따른 음악을 검색하는 실험을 수행하고 그 결과를 분석하였다.
