This study focuses on fabricating silver flake powder by a mechanical milling process and investigating the formation of flake-shaped particles during milling. The silver flake powder is fabricated by varying the mechanical milling parameters such as the amount of powder, ball size, impeller rotation speed, and milling time of the attrition ballmill. The particle size of the silver flake powder decreases with increasing amount of powder; however, it increases with increasing impeller rotation speed. The change in the particle size of the silver flake powder is analyzed based on elastic collision between the balls, taking energy loss of the balls due to the powder into consideration. The change in the particle size of the silver flake powder with mechanical milling parameters is consistent with the change in the diameter of the elastic deformation contact area of the ball, due to the collision between the balls, with milling parameters. The flake-shaped silver particles are formed at the elastic deformation contact area of the ball due to the collision.
Ag-Cu alloy nano powders were fabricated by the electrical explosion of Cu-plated Ag wires. Ag wires of 0.2mm diameter was electroplated to final diameter of 0.220 mm and 0.307 mm which correspond to Ag-27Cu and Ag-68Cu alloy. The explosion product consisted of equilibrium phases of ${\alpha}-Ag$ and ${\beta}$-Cu. The particle size of Ag-Cu nano powders were 44 nm and 70 nm for 0.220 mm and 0.307 mm wires, respectively. The Ag-Cu nano powders contained less Cu than average value due to higher sublimation energy compared to that of Ag. As a result, micron-sized spherical particles formed from liquid droplets contained higher Cu content.
In this study, Ti-Mo-EB composites are prepared by ball milling and spark plasma sintering (SPS) to obtain a low elastic modulus and high strength and to evaluate the microstructure and mechanical properties as a function of the process conditions. As the milling time and sintering temperature increased, Mo, as a β-Ti stabilizing element, diffused, and the microstructure of β-Ti increased. In addition, the size of the observed phase was small, so the modulus and hardness of α-Ti and β-Ti were measured using nanoindentation equipment. In both phases, as the milling time and sintering temperature increased, the modulus of elasticity decreased, and the hardness increased. After 12 h of milling, the specimen sintered at 1000℃ showed the lowest values of modulus of elasticity of 117.52 and 101.46 GPa for α-Ti and β-Ti, respectively, confirming that the values are lower compared to the that in previously reported studies.
Boron carbide (B4C) is highly significant in the production of lightweight protective materials when added to aluminum owing to its exceptional mechanical properties. In this study, a method for fabricating Al-B4C composites using high-energy ball milling and directed energy deposition (DED) is presented. Al-4 wt.% B4C composites were fabricated under 21 different laser conditions to analyze the microstructure and mechanical properties at different values of laser power and scan speeds. The composites fabricated at a laser power of 600 W and the same scan speed exhibited the highest hardness and generated the fewest pores. In contrast, the composites fabricated at a laser power of 1000 W exhibited the lowest hardness and generated a significant number of large pores. This can be explained by the influence of the microstructure on the energy density at different values of laser power.
Silver particles were synthesized from silver nitrate by homogeneous precipitation and chemical reduction methods involving the intermediate silver cyanate. The obtained silver particles were characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, and BET. Urea which could prevent the agglomeration of the reduced silver particles was used as a homogeneous precipitator. The spherical silver particles with average particle diameter of 100 nm were obtained under the optimum reaction conditions. The optimum synthetic conditions were found as follows: reaction temperature $100^{\circ}C$, reaction time 60 min, concentration of silver nitrate $1{\times}10^{-2}$ mol, urea $5{\times}10^{-3}$ mol, and sodium citrate $8.5{\times}10^{-4}$ mol. The phase of obtained silver particles was crystalline state and the silver particles were relatively dense, which had the surface area of $0.7571\;m^{2}/g$.

Many studies have been conducted to increase heat transfer in fluid. One of the various heat transfer enhancement techniques is to suspend fine metallic or nonmetallic solid powder in traditional fluid. Nanofluid is defined at a new kind of heat transfer fluid containing a very small quantity of nanometer particles that are uniformly and stably suspended in a liquid. In this study CuNi or CuAg nano particles are used to investigate heat transfer enhancement. The result shows the thermal conductivity of nanofluid is much higher than that of traditional fluid.
The permeate flux was lower when PAC was added compared to without PAC system. It can be concluded that PAC is cause of membrane fouling. The effect of flow volume was found not significant for the three samples. But it was shown high rejection rate due to adsorption of organic matter to PAC in the case of adding PAC.
