Relationship between Early Childhood Teachers' Knowledge and Protective Practice on Safety (유아교사들의 안전에 대한 지식과 사고예방실천과의 관계 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between early childhood teacher's knowledge and protective practice on safety. The study subjects were 312 early childhood teachers working at kindergartens and day care centers in Seoul, Kyung-gi area. A modified questionnaire was based on that developed by Nam(2002). Data were analysed by t-test, One-way ANOVA, and Pearson's correlations. The results were as follows. First, there was a small but insignificant difference for safety knowledge in the teachers' teaching experiences, and working place, but no difference in attending safety education. Second, there were differences for safety practices in teaching experiences and working place. Third, teachers' safety knowledge was highly and positively correlated with safety practices. In conclusion, enhanced early childhood teacher' safety knowledge is needed for improved safety practice.

Childcare Teacher's Concept Map Analysis about Early Childhood Safety Educational Contents (유아안전교육에 대한 보육교사의 개념도 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate childcare teacher's knowledge of child safety education. In this study, Novak and Gowin(1984)'s concept map was applied to investigate knowledge of safety instruction. Forty teachers working at child centers were completed the concept map. The results of this study were as follows: First, Teachers used 194 higher concepts. 'Safe action in dander situation'(77.8%) was most frequently used higher concept and followed by 'traffic safety('35%). Second, Teachers used 1,270 dependent concepts. Third, there was significant difference in density according to frequency of safety instruction. These results can be meaningful to decide the contents of child safety instruction for teacher's education and as a basic data for teacher's education.

Job Analysis of Early Childhood Special Education Teachers Using DACUM Technique (DACUM 기법을 활용한 유치원 특수학급 교사의 직무분석)

  • This study attempted to analyze the jobs of early childhood special education teachers working in kindergarten's special classes using the DACUM technique. To this end, the DACUM Committee was formed with six early childhood special education teachers with extensive field experience. A total of six DACUM workshops were conducted to derive job definition, job descriptions, and job specifications. As a result, the job description of early childhood special education teachers consisted of 9 duties and 53 tasks, and the job specification consisted of 80 knowledge, 98 skills, and 22 attitudes. Early childhood special education teachers working in kindergarten's special classes were tasks differentiated from special education teachers working in elementary and secondary school including home-linked guidance, health and safety management, elementary school transfer guidance, environmental composition according to play topics, and indoor and outdoor play activities guidance. In the case of knowledge, the Special Education Act on the Disabled, etc. and knowledge on behavioral modification took precedence. Skill showed high frequency of observation-record, parental interviews and parental education skills. Attitudes as experts and administrators took priority. The results of this job analysis can help organize a curriculum to train early childhood special education teachers with high job competency in universities.

  • To propose a contents model for children's smart watch, this study interview 15mothers who have a child using smart watches. Most mothers purchase smart watches for children to warrant their security and manage their schedules, and they use them for sending a call or text to their children, tracking or managing children's location and schedule. Mothers were satisfied with a smart watch's function of communication and safety management, but dissatisfied learning-oriented contents and worrried about bad influenced on children development. Through in-depth interviews, this study propose a persona model for children's smart watch for enhancing parent-child interaction and physical cognitive language socioemotional convergence play contents.

The Subjective Perception on the Job Contents of Educare Teachers (보육교사의 직무에 대한 인식 유형)

  • The purpose of this study is analyzing newly the role of the educare teachers by finding the teachers' subjective perception on their duty and understanding its feature. With the research, I'd like to present the fundamental materials for re-training and education for specialty. I Q-sorted 17 teachers based on the 36 statements which had been selected carefully. The results are following. The first type is the teacher who is aiming the specialized education. The teacher of this type needs to have the comprehensible knowledge on the child-development and seeks the teacher's specialty with self-supervision and study group. The second type is the teacher who is pursuing safety and protection for the children. The teacher of this type considers safety and cleanness very important and thinks that he or she should take care of the children by the cooperation with parents. The third type is the teacher who is heading for everyday's life and improvement. He or she thinks that teaching the child daily life is significant and by it, the child should grow up. The results of the research show us 3 points. The first, we need to re-design training program for the educare teachers. The second, we should prepare the manual for the teachers in accordance with the infants' growing-up. The third, we should understand the teacher's type and train him or her in accordance with the type.

The Experience of Pesticide Poisoning and It's Related Factors in a Rural Area (일부 농촌지역 주민의 농약중독 경험과 관련요인)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyse both actual conditions and health problems of farmers in using peshcrde and to develop protective methods. This study research was carried out by means of questionnaires with members of 100 families randomly selected from 279 families residing within the managing territory of primary health post. The results are as follows: Based on 10 kinds of safety instructions, it was shown that 76% complied with more than 6 isntractrons, and less than 4 instructions were 24%, of which 25% carefully read their handling instructions, 58% did sometimes, and 17% never read such instructions. Not complying with those safety instructions, the most frequent experience was physical symptoms, of which headache accounted for 80.9%, dizziness for 73.5%, dermatitis for 64.7%, and vomiting for 41.2%. Their experiences of pesticide poisoning indicated 68.0%, of which the aged level accounted for 88.9% which was relatively high. A spraying time of peshcide was less than 2 hours accounted for 64.0%, and more than 2 hours for 36%. It was also shown that the number of farmers, who experienced poisoning after spraying such chemicals, accounted for 77.8%. The hate of poisoning experiences were 92.0% in group not wearing a protective equipment, were 62.5% in group wearing a complete set of protective equipment.
