과제 및 기질에 따른 유아의 스트레스 대처 전략 (A Study of Preschooler's Stress Coping Strategies Depending on Task and Temperament)

  • This study investigated 3- and 5-year-old preschoolers' stress coping strategies depending on tasks, and whether preschoolers' stress coping strategies in each task depended on their temperament types. Subjects were 96 3- and 5-year-old preschoolers selected from three day-care centers in Seoul, Kounggi. A Parent Temperament Questionnaire for preschooler was used, and the coping strategies which each preschooler showed in task with perceived controllable, task with perceived uncontrollable were recorded by a video camera. Preschoolers' stress coping strategies recorded by a video camera were transcribed and analyzed according to the categories the researcher generated. Data were analyzed by paired t-tests and t-tests. As a results, there was a significant differences in preschoolers' stress coping strategies depending on the tasks and a significant temperament type difference in the preschoolers' stress coping strategies in each task.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify how characteristics of young children (sex, age, birth order, temperament), parents (education level, employed or unemployed mother, mother's parenting behavior), and family (income) relate to young children's stress levels and to examine the relative effects of these variables on young children's stress. The subjects for this study were 287 young children, aged from 3 to 5 years old, selected from kindergartens and day-care centers in Busan. Data were analyzed with t-test, ANOVA, correlation, and multiple regression. The results were as follows. (1) Young children's stress was correlated with young children's sex, age, birth order and temperament. (2) Young children's stress was correlated with parenting behaviors. (3) Young children's stress was not correlated with income. (4) Children's emotionality and maternal overprotective behavior were the most significant variables affecting the stress experienced by boys and girls, respectively. (5) Maternal overprotective behavior variable affected both sibling and only children's stress.

유아의 방과후 활동 경험과 일상적 스트레스와의 관계 (After-School Extracurricular Activities of Kindergarten Children : Relationships with Daily Stress)

  • This study investigated relationships between the after-school extracurricular activities of kindergarten children and their daily stress. The subjects were 380 kindergarten children; they were interviewed regarding the degree of their daily stress. Their mothers completed questionnaires on the children's extracurricular after-school activities. Statistical analysis of the data showed that kindergarteners who participated in extracurricular after-school activities showed a higher degree of daily stress than children who did not. It was concluded that developmental appropriateness of extracurricular activities should be considered, and educational curricular and strategies to help children cope with daily stress due to excessive extracurricular activities should be prepared. Further research on this subject is recommended.

유아의 일상적 스트레스에 영향을 미치는 미시체계 변인 탐색 (An Analysis of Microsystem Variables Affecting Children's Daily Hassles)

  • The daily hassles of 5-year-old children were explored and analyzed as microsystems in order to discover the relative importance of ecological factors in children's daily hassles. The subjects were 322 children, their mothers and 34 teachers recruited from 5 kindergartens and 15 child-care centers in Seoul and Kyonggido province. Children were interviewed individually with pictures showing certain stressful situations. Questionnaires were administered to mothers and teachers. The findings indicated that the microsystem variables of Kindergartens and child-care centers were the most significant factors explaining children's daily hassles. Therefore, it was suggested that the policies and regulations on child-care facilities be carefully developed and strictly regulated.

유아기 자녀 가족의 가족체계 기능과 부모의 양육행동, 양육분담, 양육스트레스 (Family system functioning and parenting behaviors, sharing, stresses in families with young children)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to explore differences of fathers' and mothers' parenting behaviors, sharing, and stresses by levels of family system functioning in families with young children. Methods: The sample of this study included 1,611 first married couples having at least one child aged under 5 years in the 6th wave of the Panel Study on Korean Children(PSKC). Results: It was found that fathers' cohesion and flexibility were higher than mothers'. It was also found that there were significant differences in fathers' and mothers' parenting behaviors, sharing, and stresses by the level of family system functioning. Conclusions: This study suggested that the family system functioning are related to parenting in families with young children. Further implication were discussed for enhancing family system functioning and parenting behaviors of young children.

보행대기시간과 보행자스트레스를 고려한 보행자우선 감응신호 운영방안 연구 (A Study on Pedestrian Priority Actuated Signal Control Considering Waiting Time for Walking and Pedestrian Stress)

  • 주도로 차량 위주의 좌회전감응신호운영은 보행대기시간은 더 늘어날 수 있기 때문에 이는 보행자의 불편 또는 스트레스를 유발하고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 좌회전감응신호 적용 전·후의 보행대기시간과 설문조사를 통해 보행자가 느끼는 스트레스를 살펴보았으며 이를 개선하기 위하여 보행자우선 감응신호 시뮬레이션(VISSIM) 분석을 하였다. 좌회전감응신호 적용 후 보행대기시간은 비첨두시간에 37% 증가했다. 설문 결과 보행대기시간이 길어졌다가 62.1%, 그 중 78%는 그로 인하여 스트레스를 받는거로 나타났다. 한편 보행자우선 감응신호 시뮬레이션(VISSIM) 분석 결과, 차량 통행속도는 1.07km/h(2.5%)로 소폭 감소한 반면 보행 평균대기시간은 15.51초(28%) 감소하여 크게 개선되었다. 따라서 보행자우선 감응신호는 보행 대기시간을 감소시켜 보행자 스트레스를 완화할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

유아교사의 직무스트레스와 교수몰입의 관계 : 내적·외적 회복탄력성의 매개효과 (The Relationship Between Job Stress and Teaching Flow of Early Childhood Teachers : The Mediating Effect of Early Childhood Teachers' Resilience)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of inner resilience and external resilience on the relationship between the job stress of early childhood education teachers and their teaching flow. Data were collected through questionnaires from 221 early childhood Korean teachers in the InCheon area. The instruments used in this study were the Kindergarten Teachers' Job Stress Scale, Early Childhood Teachers' Resilience Scale, and Teaching Flow Scale. The data were analyzed by Pearson's correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, and Baron and Kenny's method. It was adapted to SPSS ver. 18.0 for Windows. This study followed a mediated effect model. First, there was a negative correlation between the job stress and teaching flow. There was a positive correlation between the teaching flow and the resilience. Secondly, there was a negative correlation with job stress and teaching flow in path model 1. In path model 2, there was a positive correlation with resilience and teaching flow. Teaching flow was statistically and significantly influenced by resilience. Thirdly, there was the mediating effect of inner resilience and external resilience on the relationship between the job stress of early childhood education teachers and their teaching flow. These results can be used as the basic data for the improvement of early childhood education teachers' teaching flow in the future.

아버지의 일상적 스트레스와 양육참여도가 유아의 정서지능에 미치는 영향: 부부갈등의 매개효과를 중심으로 (The Effect of Fathers' Daily Stress and Child-Rearing Involvement on Children's Emotional Intelligence: Focused on the Mediating Effects of Marital Conflict)

  • Both direct and indirect courses are studied in this research to study the effect of fathers' daily stress, child-rearing involvement and marital conflict on children's emotional intelligence. The participants were 281 parents of children aged between 3 to 5 attending 9 kindergartens in Seoul and the Gyeonggi-do, Jeolla-do, and Gyeongsang-do areas. The data was collected by the questionnaire method. Collected data for the study was analyzed using the Structural Equation Model with the AMOS 16.0 program. The main points of this research are as follows: First, the direct course of fathers' daily stress did not appear to have a significant effect on children's emotional intelligence. Second, fathers' daily stress has an indirect effect on children's emotional intelligence through marital conflict. That is, the higher level of stress in the father's daily life, the deeper marital conflict that is found. And the deeper the marital conflict that exists, the lower child's emotional intelligence that is shown. Third, the direct course of the fathers' child-rearing involvement did not appear to have a significant effect on children's emotional intelligence. Fourth, the father's child-rearing involvement has an indirect effect on children's emotional intelligence through marital conflict. That is, marital conflict decreases as the father becomes more involved in child rearing. In addition, the lower level of marital conflict that exists, the higher child's emotional intelligence.

유아와 학령기 아동의 일상적 스트레스에 관한 연구 동향 분석 : 1990-2009년 게재 논문의 연구 대상, 내용, 방법을 중심으로 (A Trends Analysis of Research on Children's Daily Stress)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the research trends in children's daily stress from 1990 to 2009. A total of 97 articles were selected from 30 Korean journals in the field of child development, early childhood education, psychology and so on. We analyzed the trends of research focusing specifically on the participants, themes, and methodology by 5 years, and discussed the features of major stress scales. The results were as follows. Firstly, research on children's stress started in the first half of the 1990s and drastically increased in the latter half of that decade. In the following decade, more various journals dealt with articles on children's stress, and more studies were conducted on the intervention of stress. Secondly, many studies investigated the developmental change in stress, rather than focusing on the same age group. The younger preschoolers participated in studies as years go by, indicating that the age of suffering from stress was downward. Thirdly, most research used stress as a dependent variable to examine the factors affecting stress. Fourthly, questionnaires, observation and interview were used as methods to measure children's stress, while qualitative research was rarely conducted. Lastly, scales to measure children's stress should be revised and developed, especially for succeeding research in the area of early childhood.

부모공동양육 및 어머니의 양육스트레스와 유아의 불안 및 과잉행동 간의 관계 (Investigating the Relationship among Co-Parenting, Maternal Parenting Stress, and Preschoolers' Anxiety and Hyperactivity)

  • The main purpose of this study was to examine the relationship among co-parenting, maternal parenting stress, and preschoolers' anxiety and hyperactivity with a sample of 155 mothers with 3 to 4 year old children (83 boys and 72 girls) living in Seoul. They completed a questionnaire on co-parenting, maternal parenting stress, and preschoolers' anxiety and hyperactivity. The results were analyzed by means of correlations and regressions. Co-parenting was positively correlated with preschoolers' anxiety and hyperactivity but affectionate, integrated co-parenting was negatively correlated with preschoolers' anxiety and hyperactivity. Maternal stress of parental suffering, dysfunctional interaction, and difficult temperament were positively related to preschoolers' anxiety and hyperactivity. Conflicting co-parenting was positively correlated with maternal stress of parental suffering, but affectionate and integrated co-parenting was negatively correlated with maternal stress of parental suffering and difficult temperament. Furthermore, maternal parenting stress mediated the relationship between co-parenting and preschoolers' anxiety and hyperactivity. Especially, maternal stress of parental suffering tended to play a perfectly mediating role between conflicting and integrated co-parenting and preschoolers' anxiety, between conflicting co-parenting and preschoolers' hyperactivity. Maternal stress of difficult temperament tended to play a perfectly mediating role between integrated co-parenting and preschoolers' anxiety and between conflicting co-parenting and preschoolers' hyperactivity. These results clearly indicate that maternal parenting stress plays a crucial role in the levels of preschoolers' anxiety and hyperactivity.
