This study examines the effect of parenting stress on children's social competence in relation to parenting stress, children's social competence, and parents' self-esteem, The purpose of this study is to investigate whether parental self-esteem mediates the relationship between parenting stress and children's social competence. Frequency analysis and descriptive statistical analysis were performed on the data of the 7th year of 2014 Panel Study of Korean Children(PSKC), and Pearson's moment correlation coefficient was calculated for correlation analysis between variables. In addition, in order to verify the mediating effect of parental self-esteem in the relationship between parenting stress and the child's social competence, Process Macro Model 4 was applied to verify the mediating effect, The significance of the indirect effect was verified by the bootstrapping method. As a result of this study, first, the correlations between all latent variables showed significant correlations. Second, it was confirmed that mother and father self-esteem had a mediating effect in the effect of father and mother's stress on infants' social competence. These results suggest that in order to improve children's social competence, parents should be able to increase their self-esteem so that they can have faith and confidence in themselves and control their emotions well in parenting stressful situations.

This study examined the difference between parents' and teachers' recognition about problem behaviors of children. The findings showed that there was a distinct difference between parents' and teachers' recognition about all problem behaviors of children. Especially, teachers had more recognition about problem behaviors of children than parents. And the reactive interaction and the actual prevention in educational institutions were preferred in the difference between parents' and teachers' recognition about a teaching strategy for children, such that teachers had significantly higher recognition about a teaching strategy for children than parents did, while there was no significant difference in the strategy for social emotion. This means that teachers should originally control and manage various problem behaviors based on the common teaching strategy, which is socio-emotionally recognized, rather than the biased teaching strategy. But the teaching strategy of reactive interaction is preferred in accordance with the type of problem behaviors between teachers and children and the children who show problem behaviors. Especially, teaching strategies of reactive interaction and actual prevention focused on the inhibition and prevention of children's problem behaviors are preferred in light of children's characteristics of many unexpected problem behaviors.

In order to explore the impact of gender in the effects of age, temperament, and parenting on preschoolers' psychosocial problems, 339 preschoolers, 3-5 year old, were assessed using parent report measures of externalizing and internalizing behavior problems, temperament, and parenting. The results of ANOVA and hierarchical regression analyses are as follows. First, the main effects of age and gender for externalizing problems and the interaction effect of age and gender for internalizing problems were significant. Second, the important predictors of preschoolers' internalizing and externalizing problems were different by gender. In boys, Novelty Seeking(NS), Harm Avoidance(HA), and hostile parenting significantly predicted both problems. In girls, NS, HA, and warm parenting significantly predicted both problems. In addition, girls were more strongly influenced by parenting whereas boys were more influenced by their temperaments. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships among parental perception of home-based fine motor experiences in early childhood, home environment, and frequency of fine motor activities, and to investigate a mediating role of home environment in the process of parental perception influencing early childhood's frequency of fine motor activities. The data from 214 five-year-old children and their parents from six early childhood education centers in Gyeonggi province were collected and analyzed. The data were processed using IBM SPSS Statistics 23 and analyzed with descriptive statistics, independent samples t-tests, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, and bootstrapping analysis. The major findings were as follows: First, gender differences in parental perception, home environment, and frequency of fine motor activities existed in that values across all three variables were higher for girls than for boys. Second, parental perception, home environment and frequency of fine motor activities were positively correlated. Third, partial mediating effects of home environment on the relation between parental perception and the frequency of fine motor activities were found. These findings show an existence of gender differences in early childhood's fine motor activities. This research also affirms the significance of increasing the frequency of fine motor activities by enhancing parental perceptions for balanced motor development of boys and girls, and establishing a home environment conducive to fine motor activities at any time and in any location.

This study was to analyze the general trends and the effects of parent education programs in accordance with operating methods, contents, and goals by using meta-analysis. The subjects were the studies about the effects of education programs for parents who have young and school-aged children, 41 and 15 respectively. The results showed that the trends of the operating methods in both groups did not have many differences. Also, on the contents and goals of the programs, parenting related factor was treated the most in both groups. Second, the overall effects of the parent education programs were higher on those for parents with school-aged children than parents with young children. -When parents together, not separately, participated in program, the effect size was the largest. However, the effects of other operating methods factors like number of subjects, hours per session, and number of sessions showed inconsistent results. On the effects of contents and goals, the effect of self-system competency factor as psychological characteristics was the highest in the programs for parents with young children and the effect of parenting competency factor was the highest for the ones with school-aged children. This study has implications for providing basic data for developing effective programs for parents with young and school-aged children.

This study provided an overview of how action learning runs in parents' education classes by analyzing the case of parent education program for prospective early childhood teachers. The subjects of this study were 32 pre - service teachers (30 students in early childhood education, 2 double major students) who were enrolled in the department of early childhood education at P university in Daejeon. The research was conducted theoretical and practical action learning program for 12 weeks. The data collection was organized by students preparing weekly diaries, group assignments, in-depth interview materials, colleagues and self-assessment, and analysed with the qualitative case study approach. The results of the qualitative analysis are as follows: Action learning teaching method provided opportunities to encounter diverse cases through student led and group activities. Students could experience a specific problem solving method between parents-children relationships as prospective parents. Students could have a chance to solve real-life situations that are difficult to experience in theoretical classroom situations between teachers-parents relationship as prospective teachers. Although the realization of practical knowledge of real-world conflict has been challenging, it has become a chance to have confidence with the role of parents and the role of teachers in the future.
