Objectives : Delirium is a temporary brain dysfunction and systemic inflammation is important factor in its pathophysiology. Whether the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), one of the inflammatory markers, can be used as an inflammatory marker in delirium patients was investigated in comparison with C-reactive protein (CRP). Methods : We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of patients who were referred for consultation for delirium at hospital for one year. The NLR and CRP values at admission and delirium status were divided into the medical and the surgical treatment group, and the interaction between them was analyzed through repeated measures ANOVA. Results : NLR was maintained without significant difference before and after delirium in the medical treatment group and the surgical treatment group, but CRP decreased in the medical treatment group and increased in the surgical treatment group during delirium, showing a significant interaction. Conclusions : In delirium patients, the NLR remained constant, but the CRP differed according to the treatment group and the delirium state. This suggests the possibility that NLR could be used complementary to CRP as an inflammatory marker in delirium patients.

Early start-up companies have an inherent limitation of lack of resources. Despite these limitations, in order to survive, the entrepreneur's personal ability to efficiently use limited resources is required. In the marketing field, various studies are needed to reduce the business failure rate through establishing growth strategies and innovation. Accordingly, it is necessary to apply the concept of entrepreneurial marketing, which has been researched and developed overseas for 30 years, to fit the domestic reality. According to the flow of this study, an empirical study should be preceded to clarify the influence relationship between entrepreneurial marketing orientation, marketing competency, and management performance, along with a theoretical theorem on entrepreneurial marketing that is suitable for early start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs) and can respond innovatively to changes. The establishment of entrepreneurial marketing orientation and the processes from which this concept leads to business performance through the organization's marketing capabilities and its effects will be empirically verified. For an empirical survey, a survey was conducted on founders of 220 companies, and path analysis using structural equations was used for hypothesis verification. The findings are as follows. First, it was found that the entrepreneurial marketing orientation had a positive effect on both the organization's marketing capabilities and management performance. Second, it was found that the organization's marketing capabilities also had a positive effect on management performance. Third, as a result of empirical analysis of the mediating effect of the organization's marketing capabilities on the relationship between entrepreneurial marketing orientation and management performance, it was found that marketing capabilities showed a greater mediating effect on non-financial performance than financial performance. On the other hand, it was confirmed that marketing performance had a stronger mediating effect on financial performance than non-financial performance. By confirming and presenting the concept and constituent factors of entrepreneurial marketing orientation of domestic start-ups, which were academic gaps for the purpose of this paper, the academic research is differentiated in that they were verified as six components of entrepreneurial marketing. The practical implications of the research results will be that the entrepreneurial marketing-oriented mindset of small and medium-sized companies will optimize market analysis capabilities, network with various stakeholders, and increase the organization's ability to demonstrate marketing capabilities.

The majority of research on lifestyle has been conducted based on a variable-centered approach. However, over the last decades, there is a growing body of research on lifestyle in terms of a person-centered approach. Hence, this study identifies senior generations' profiles based on the combination of the five realms of lifestyle. More specifically, this study utilized a Latent profile analysis(LPA) to explore both quantitatively and qualitatively distinct types of senior generation' lifestyle profiles. As a result, the five distinct types of senior lifestyle profiles were identified and these five profiles were then contrasted with traveling attitude and behavioral intention(traveling intention). In addition, this study attempted to identify similarity in the patterns of relations with theoretical antecedent, correlate and outcome variables. Results showed that even though senior generation belonging to profile groups pertaining to the high level of all five types of lifestyle were associated with a high level of attitude and behavior intention, there was no differences among the profiles. This means that regardless of the patterns of senor generation lifestyle profiles, there was no similarity. Nevertheless, it should be considered that senior generation consider a security when making a travel ling decision regardless of the patterns of lifestyle profiles. This results suggest that senior generation' traveling satisfaction is more likely obtained with the experience of safety and convenience during their travel. At last, this study discusses some implication tourism theory related to lifestyle, practices and future research on tourism profiles.

New business management methods different from the past are necessary because of the rapid changes of the corporates' environment. KOSDAQ(Korean Securities Dealers Automated Quotation) companies should be expected the more affirmative business performance of companies by listing, but it is a well-known that they have problems of low business performance mostly. This paper aims to investigate the influential factors on enhancing corporate innovation and nonfinantial business performance, and to clarify practical measures and present a solution of KOSDAQ companies' problems through analysis of previous researches and an empirical research. This research present corporate entrepreneurship and human resources innovation as impact factors on the business performance to apply finely the path of technological innovation for the solution of the relevance investigation limit between the complexity of corporates' innovation paths and the firms' performance. And also knowledge management activities and external networks management or the firms have been adopted as a corporate innovation activities for free from quantitative measures, such as conventional research and development(R&D) activities by considering recent corporates' knowledge business operations. The results of the empirical analysis shows that significant impact factors on corporate innovation activities are the firms' propensities of competitive advantage initiative, risk taking and chief executive officer's innovation. These can be interpreted that the CEOs' innovation propensity should be enhanced for stimulating corporate's innovaton activities, which include the CEOs' interest in the development of new technology, the exploiting new businesses and their support of the innovation discipline for employees. In addition, it can be said that it is necessary to intensify more initiatives within those enterprise for enhancing the competitive advantage in the identical industry. The significant impact factors of corporate entrepreneurship and human resource innovation on the non-financial performance are resulted as the propensities of firms' competitive advantage initiative, CEOs' innovation and employees' innovaton. This shows that the higher propensities of firms' competitive advantage initiative, CEOs' innovation and employees' innovaton, the higher the cognitive degrees of business performance within each corporate, which include the members' awareness about firms' sales growth, market share growth, profit ratio growth, customers' preference and corporates' awareness.
Since the 1980s, the western welfare states have experienced a wide spectrum of socio-economic changes; changes in population composition, the economic globalization, the post-industrialization, an increasing flexibility in the labor market. etc. This study examines the trend of poverty in welfare states, and analyzes how those socio-economic changes are related to it. For these purposes, this study first calculates the poverty indices for several years in 10 welfare states using the Luxembourg Income Study database, and then decomposes the index by subpopulation and income sources. Major findings of this study can be summarized as follows. First of all, the welfare state in general has experienced an increasing trend in the degree of poverty since the 1980s. In particular, poverty has greatly intensified in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. Many other welfare states including Canada, Germany, Sweden, and Norway have also experienced substantial increases in poverty. The increasing trend of poverty is not wholly due to changes in population composition such as increases in the aging population and one-parent(mother) families. Contrary to the traditional belief, these population groups are not as much poor as the working-age population. In particular, the degree of poverty in the elderly is less severe than in the working-age group. Furthermore, since the 1980s the market income poverty in the aging population has shown a decreasing trend in many welfare states. The degree and trend of poverty in one-parent families vary greatly across countries, owing to the labor market and income transfer policies. The most important reason for the increasing poverty trend in the welfare state is that the degree of poverty has been deepening in the working-age population. Especially, the market income poverty of the working-age population has considerably increased in every country except the Netherlands. Structural changes in the economy and the labor market may drive the increasing trend of poverty. Further studies and deliberate anti-poverty policies are needed to tackle the factors relating to the increase in the market income poverty.
The communication via MIM(Mobile Instant Messenger) has unique characteristics; one of them is use of emoticons. Although using emoticons in MIM is getting a lot of attention from business fields and emoticons markets in MIM is growing rapidly, there are little researches focused on emoticons in MIM in consumer behaviors and marketing area. So, the purpose of this study is to fill this theoretical and practical gap. For this purpose, we explore the effect of and trust in MIM system and attitude toward use of emoticons on purchase intention to emotions in MIM. Our study used structural equation modeling analysis; the results showed that perceived benefits and perceived risk to MIM affected trust in MIM system significantly, more specifically, while perceived benefits affected trust in MIM system positively, perceived risk affected trust in MIM system negatively. We also found that perceived usefulness of emoticon in MIM and flow experience influenced attitude toward use of emoticons positively. Lastly, trust in MIM system and attitude toward use of emoticons had positive effect on purchase intention to emoticons in MIM. The implication and limitations of this study are also discussed.
This study examines Korean representation of the biotechnology and psychological factors which can influence lay people's perception and attitude about biotechnology. Korean college students(N=433) and lay adults(N=90) whom had college education participated in the study. Participants of the study 1 were asked to list words which comes to mind when associate with the biotechnology in broad sense, and several specific applications in health, medicines, agriculture and research. Participants of the study 2 were asked to list possible benefits and costs of biotechnology and their specific applications. In study 3, Participants responded the questionnaires about perceptions and attitudes of biotechnology. Korean people associated the biotechnology with its costs or risks and benefits. Korean college students mainly got the informations of the biotechnology from TV, newspapers, or internet. They trusted the scientist group and NGO group on their judgements about the assessment of risk and benefit of the biotechnology. College students showed the positive attitude with the applications in medicines and negative attitude with the applications in agriculture and public using of individual's genetic information. The radicalism, sensitivity in behavioral activation system, and trust/cynicism were to be found as a significant influencing factor for interest/knowledge and behavioral intention in related with biotechnology. Finally, more extensive knowledge of biotechnology did not lead to greater acceptance of it.
This study investigates the determinants of strategic positional change. Specifically, the study suggests performance feedback affects to a firm's strategic repositioning. Performance feedback is a concept that a firm decides whether success or not by comparing its performance relative to its aspiration level. Prior studies successively discover diverse behaviors. The study suggests three unexplored relationships between performance gaps and strategic positioning. First, when a firm's performance is below relative to its aspiration level, that firm's strategic position will be deviate from the industry norm. Second, as the degree of industrial density increases, the tendency that a firm's strategic position becomes deviate from the industry norm decreases. Third, when the degree of reference group's performance decreases, the tendency that a firm's strategic position becomes deviate from the industry norm decreases. For empirical analysis, this study examines data of 538 firms that in North America crude petroleum and natural gas industry. The result reveals that the direction of a firm's strategic change is shaped when firms' performance is below relative to aspiration level. Also, this relationship is moderated as industrial density changes or when reference groups' performance decreases. This study contributes to the current literature by explaining how a firms' strategic position is decided. Also, this study reveals that reference groups' performance could affect to organizational choice.

Purpose : The identification of specific behaviors conducive to overeating or inactivity is the cornerstone of obesity management. The Committee on Nutrition of the Korean Pediatric Society developed parent and self-reporting questionnaires about eating behavior and physical activity in 2006. The aim of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of the questionnaires in assessing modifiable lifestyle factors related to obesity. Methods : A retrospective chart review was performed for 177 children (6-11 years old) and 134 adolescents (12-16 years old) from 10 hospitals between May 2006 and January 2007 who had completed parent or self-reporting questionnaires. Cases were divided into normal and overweight groups at or above the age-gender-specific 85th percentile based on 2007 Korean national growth charts. Results : Compared to children, the adolescents tended to have a significantly more sedentary lifestvle and inappropriate dietary behaviors significantly (P<.05). Overweight mothers were significantly associated with overweight children and adolescents (P<.05). Being overweight was significantly associated with a family history of adult diseases for children and adolescents (P<.05). Inappropriate eating behaviors (strong appetite, eating fast, eating until they were full, binge eating, favoring greasy foods) were associated with being overweight in children and adolescents. Sedentary activity such as TV viewing and using a computer were significantly associated with overweight in children and adolescents (P<.05). Conclusion : Intervention to modify obesity-related lifestyle factors is needed before adolescence. These questionnaires are useful in identifying modifiable lifestyle factors and in individual counseling for overweight children and adolescents in pediatric clinics.
The purpose of this study is to explore the predictors of academic probation in college. Especially, this study focused on student engagement variables among the predictors of academic probation in college. Student engagement variables include hours of absence from class and numbers of log to LMS(Learning Management System) and in extracurricular program system during four weeks after the opening of a course and the numbers of faculty counseling. GPA(grade Point Average) is a dependent variable and GPA of prior semester is a control variable in this study. 17,261 student data were collected for the study. Linear regression model and logistic regression model analyses were conducted in the study. The finding showed that the hours of absence from class and numbers of log in extracurricular program system during four weeks after the opening of a course predicted academic achievement of college students. The result also indicated that hours of absence from class and numbers of log-ins to LMS(Learning Management System) and in extracurricular program system during four weeks after the opening of a course were the predictors of academic probation in college. This study will contribute to investigate indicators of students with low academic performance and to provide proper support for underachievers.
