A Positioning Accuracy Analysis in Korea by using NTCM-BC Ionosphere Model (NTCM-BC 전리층 모델을 이용한 한반도 내 위치추정 정확도 분석)

  • A Neustrelitz TEC model (NTCM) developed by Deutsches Zentrum $f{\ddot{u}}r$ Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) provides a better accuracy than the global positioning system (GPS) Klobuchar model for predicting ionospheric delay. The NTCM model accuracy is comparable to Galileo NeQuick model, and it has less computation time. The NTCM model uses F10.7 values as a parameter of solar activity function, while a NTCM-Broadcast (NTCM-BC) uses TEC values from a Klobuchar model. For this reason, a NTCM-BC model can be used for real-time ionosphere correction. In this paper, vertical ionospheric delay and GPS positioning errors in Korea by using a NTCM-BC ionosphere model from 2009 to 2014 are analyzed and compared with those of a Klobuchar model. In the 6-year statistics, the vertical ionospheric delay is reduced by 17.7 %, and horizontal and vertical positioning accuracies by the NTCM-BC model are improved by 25.6 % and 6.7 %, respectively, over the Klobuchar model.

  • In wireless sensor networks, one of most common location detection methods that do not require additional devices such as GPS and ultrasonic sensor, is the location detection method based on received signal strength. However, measured received signal strength will fluctuate over time mainly due to physical radio channel characteristics between nodes, which subsequently will cause errors to measured distance between nodes. Since these contaminated distance data are utilized to detect the location of unknown node, there will be accumulated errors in the location of unknown node. In order to overcome the limitation of the location detection method based on received signal strength, we propose a location scheme in which reliability information of distance data as well as distance data between nodes are utilized to estimate the location of unknown node. Through simulation, it is shown that the proposed scheme can accomplish 30% capacity improvement.

  • It is well known that GPS cannot provide positioning results if sufficient number of visible satellites are not available. To overcome this weak point, attentions have been recently moved to hybrid positioning methods that augments GPS with other sensors. As an extension of hybrid positiong methods, this paper proposes a new method that combines GPS and vision sensor to improve availability and accuracy of land vehicle positioning. The proposed method does not require any external map information and can provide position solutions if more than 2 navigation satellites are visible. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, an experiment result with real measurements is provided and a result shows that accumulated error of n-axis is almost 2.5meters and that of e-axis is almost 3meters in test section.

Filtering Performance Analyizing for Relative Navigation Using Single Difference Carrier-Phase GPS (GPS 신호의 단일차분을 이용한 편대위성의 상대위치 결정을 위한 필터링 성능 분석)

  • Satellite formation flying can provide the platform for interferometric observation to acquire the precise data and ensure the flexibility for space mission. This paper presents development and verification of an algorithm to estimate the baseline between formation flying satellites. To estimate a baseline(relative navigation) in real time, EKF(Extended Kalman Filter) and UKF(Unscented Kalman Filter) are used. Measurements for updating a state-vector in Kalman Filter are GPS single difference data. In results, The position errors in estimated baseline are converged to less than ${\pm}1m$ in both EKF and UKF. And as using the two types of Kalman filter, it is clear that the unscented Kalman filter shows a relatively better performance than the extended Kalman filter by comparing an efficiency to the model which has a non-linearity.

A Study on Position Estimation for UAV using Line-of-sight Data-link System (가시선 데이터링크를 이용한 무인기 위치 추정에 관한 연구)

  • In the UAVs, the position error of the inertial navigation system is constantly increased when global positioning system goes wrong due to interference. It makes impossible to ensure mission and flight safety. If the data-link system provide the position of the UAV for inertial navigation system periodically, then the UAV may operate normally under malfunction of the global positioning system. In this paper, we introduce an algorithm for estimating the position of the UAV using the monopulse tracking and distance measurement of the line-of-sight data-link system. Also, we propose a method to improve the performance of position estimation. And we assured ourselves that this method can be applied in the UAVs.

  • This study proposed a damage location estimation method for automated image-based port infrastructure inspection. Memory efficiency was improved by calculating the homography matrix using feature detection technology and outlier removal technology, without going through the 3D modeling process and storing only damage information. To develop an algorithm specialized for port infrastructure, the algorithm was optimized through ground-truth coordinate pairs created using images of port infrastructure. The location errors obtained by applying this to the sample and concrete wall were (X: 6.5cm, Y: 1.3cm) and (X: 12.7cm, Y: 6.4cm), respectively. In addition, by applying the algorithm to the concrete wall and displaying it in the form of an exterior damage map, the possibility of field application was demonstrated.

  • 우리나라 연간 총수자원 1240억$m^3$ 가운데 42%에 해당하는 517억$m^3$는 증발산을 통해서 하늘로 올라가고 나머지 58%인 723억$m^3$는 하천으로 흘러간다(국토해양부, 2008). 이와 같이 증발산량은 지구 표면에서 대기로의 수증기 이동 현상으로 강수와 더불어 대기의 물 순환 및 수분 이동의 파악에 매우 중요한 지표로 사용되고 있다. 현재 기상청에서는 세계기상기구의 관측 기준에 따라 증발산량을 측정하고, 점추정 자료를 내삽법을 이용하여 유역면적 전체에 적용시키고 있다. 그러나 자연상태에서 증발산에 영향을 주는 요인이 매우 다양하기 때문에 점추정 자료를 통해 유역면적 전체에 대한 증발산량을 추정하는 방법은 많은 오차를 가져올 수 있다(유진웅, 2003). 이를 극복하기 위한 방법으로 RS 기법에 의한 증발산량 추정 방법과 함께 위성으로부터 획득할 수 있는 지표 및 대기 정보를 이용하여 광범위한 지역 내에서 공간적으로 불균일한 수분 분포를 추정하기 위하여 많은 알고리즘이 제안되었다. 본 연구에서는 위성영상을 이용하여 증발산량을 추정하는 모형가운데 SEBAL(Surface Energy Balance Algorithm for Land) Model을 상용소프트웨어에서 구현하고 충청북도에 위치한 미호천 유역에 대해 모형을 적용하여 증발산량을 추정하였다. 위성자료로는 2006년 9월 22일의 Landsat 5 TM 영상을 사용하였으며, DEM은 USGS DEM, 기상자료로는 청주시 기상연보를 활용하였다.

  • 컴퓨터 시각 인식 방법을 이용하여 얼굴의 3차원 움직임 량을 추정하고자 하는 연구는 가상 현실 환경에서 얼굴 움직임에 의한 3차원 그래픽 화면 조정, 시뮬레이터에서의 훈련자 얼굴 움직임에 의한 화면 조정 및 모니터상의 시선 위치 파악 등을 위해 필수적으로 요구되는 기술로서 최근 활발히 연구되고 있다. 기존에 얼굴의 3차원 움직임 량을 추정하고자 하는 연구들은 대부분 확장 칼만 필터(extended kalman filter)를 이용하였으나, 이러한 방법은 필터의 초기 값을 정확하게 설정해야하는 제약 요소를 갖고 있으며, 또한 얼굴의 회전 방향 변화 시 이에 대처하지 못하는 경우 역시 종종 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 확장 칼만 필터의 변형 형태인 반복적 확장 칼만 필터를 이용하여 얼굴의 3차원 움직임 량을 추정하였다. 반복적 확장 칼만 필터에서는 확장 칼만 필터에서 계산되어 나오는 추정 오차 공분산 행렬 값이 미리 정해진 임계치보다 커지는 경우, 현재 얼굴의 움직임 량을 제대로 추정하지 못하고 있는 것으로 판단하여 칼만 필터에서 사용하는 회전 및 이동 속도, 그리고 회전 및 이동 각 속도를 변형함으로써 얼굴의 움직임 량을 정확하게 추정할 수 있도록 하는 방법이다. 실험 결과 반복적 확장 칼만 필터를 사용하였을 경우에 얼굴의 급격한 회전 방향 변화에도 얼굴의 3차원 움직임 량을 정확하게 추정할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

An Adaptive Block Matching Motion Estimation Method Using Optical Flow (광류를 이용한 적응적인 블록 정합 움직임 추정 기법)

  • In this paper, we present an adaptive block matching motion estimation using optical flow. In the proposed algorithm, we calculate the temporal and spatial gradient value for each pixel value from tile differential filter, and estimate the optical flow which is used to decide the location and the size of the search region from the gradient values by least square optical flow algorithm. In particular, the proposed algorithm showed a excellent performance with fast and complex motion sequences. From the computer simulation for various motion characteristic sequences. The proposed algorithm shows a significant enhancement of PSNR over previous blocking matching algorithms.

  • In this paper the performance of a array invariant method is evaluated for source-range estimation in horizontally stratified shallow water ocean waveguide. The method has advantage of little computationally effort over existing source-localization methods. such as matched field processing or the waveguide invariant and array gain is fully exploited. And. no knowledge of the environment is required except that the received field should not be dominated by purely interference This simple and instantaneous method is applied to simulated acoustic propagation filed for testing range estimation performance. The result of range estimation according to the SNR for the underwater impulsive source with broadband spectrum is demonstrated. The spatial smoothing method is applied to suppress the effect of mutipath propagation by high frequency signal. The result of performance test for range estimation shows that the error rate is within 20% at the SNR above 10dB.
