Based on Multiple Reference Stations Ionospheric Anomaly Monitoring Algorithm on Consistency of Local Ionosphere (협역 전리층의 일관성을 이용한 다중 기준국 기반 전리층 이상 현상 감시 기법)

  • Ionospheric delay, which affect the accuracy of GNSS positioning, is generated by electrons in Ionosphere. Solar activity level, region and time could make change of this delay level. Dual frequency receiver could effectively eliminate the delay using difference of refractive index between L1 to L2 frequency. But, Single frequency receiver have to use limited correction such as ionospheric model in standalone GNSS or PRC(pseudorange correction) in Differential GNSS. Generally, these corrections is effective in normal condition. but, they might be useless, when TEC(total electron content) extremely increase in local area. In this paper, monitoring algorithm is proposed for local ionospheric anomaly using multiple reference stations. For verification, the algorithm was performed with specific measurement data in Ionospheric storm day (20. Nov. 2003). this algorithm would detect local ionospheric anomaly and improve reliability of ionospheric corrections for standalone receiver.

A Study on the Development of TGPS Buoy for the Ocean Surface Current Measurement (표층해류 관측을 위한 TGPS Buoy 개발 연구)

  • For the study of oceanic surface current, this work presents a system design which is composed of three parts, a Global Positiong System(GPS) unit, a transmitter with radio frequency (RF) modem and an antenna which are housed in a plastic spherical buoy, and computerised of VHF receiving system. The key idea for this study is to employ a commercially available GPS on a drifting buoy and to utilize the receiver position information from the buoy in determining the Lagrangian motion of surface ocean waters. Great efforts has been paid to the system design which would demand several points in harsh conditions common in the sea surface, that is power supply problems housed inside of a plastic buoy, optimizing transmitting radio frequency which limits transmitting distance to a receiving station. for all these difficulties, the system appears to be promising in future oceanic applications and is considered to economical compared to ARGOS drift buoy which is being used by commercial base. We believe that the system needs to be improved in terms of several aspects such as a longer transmitting distance, a power supply and software. for the test experiments in situ, the system has employed off the coast of Ku Ryong Po int the southeast part of Korea and successfully collected the surface current data. The results are presented for two cases from 21 to 31, March 1994 and 21 to 25, June 1994 in terms of current statistics and trajectories of drifting buoys.

Suggestion on the SBAS Augmentation Message Providing System for the the Low-cost GPS Receiver of Drone Operation (드론의 저가형 GPS 수신기용 SBAS 보강 정보 전송 시스템 제안)

  • In order to meet performance requirements specified by the ICAO in drone operation, a system that provides augmentation information such as SBAS is needed. However, the operating range of the drone is limited in situation where the drone can not received the SBAS message continuously. In this paper, we propose a system to transmit SBAS augmentation message using a separate communication channel assuming the SBAS satellite signal to the drone has been shielded. We implemented the proposed system and verified its performance in the static environment. The DGPS positioning results showed that the accuracy difference is about 10cm, which means the accuracy performance was very similar. In addition, the protection level calculated by the system also shows the difference within 2m from the value calculated by the airborne receiver.

  • The current DGPS technique is many problems that is permission of radio station using RF Wireless Modem, that is influence of geographic obstacle using radio wave, that is frequency interference, that is finiteness of frequency resources. In this paper, we are solved many elements, IM(Interface Module) replaces RF Wireless Modem, we suggest transmission technique of correction message using mobile phone, we researched Interface Module development which is linkage of DGPS receiver and mobile phone. IM can transmit correction message passing RS-232 port and modem communication control. IM of base station is initialized RS-232 port and modem to move station for correction message transmission, IM waited response mode. IM of move station is initialized RS-232 port and modem, IM requests hand shaking to base station, completed connection establishment. Users are worked Differential surveying using receiving correction message between mobile phones.

  • It is crucial to manage and maintain the geodetic reference coordinates of GNSS continuously operating reference stations (CORSs) in consideration of their fundamental roles in geodetic control and positioning navigation infrastructure. Earthquake-induced crustal displacement directly impacts the reference coordinates, so such events should be promptly detected, and appropriate action should be made to maintain the target accuracy, including update of the geodetic coordinates. To this end, this paper deals with online schemes for the detection of persistent shifts in the coordinate time-series produced by an automatic GNSS processing system. Algorithms were implemented to test filtered results, such as hypothesis tests of the innovation sequence of a Kalman filter and a cumulative sum (CUSUM) test. The results were assessed by the time-series of coordinates of 14 CORS for two years, including the 2011 Tohoku earthquake. The results show that the global hypothesis test is practical for detecting abrupt jumps, whereas CUSUM is effective for identifying persistent shifts.

  • As Global Positioning System is able to provide 24-hour all weather surveying capability and high precision survey in three dimension, expected that the extensive use of GPS to support geophysics, geophysics, millitary and time correction etc. But in order to use the GPS results effectively, we have to solve problems about coordinates transformation relating the WGS84 to Bessel Datums and development of the accurate geoid undulation model. In this paper, we derive polynomial model equations about geoid undulation around local area(longitude $126^{\circ}{\sim}129^{\circ}$, latitude $36^{\circ}{\sim}37^{\circ}$) in Korea by GPS/Leveling method, also study the geoidal height calcaulation methods supplemented by Earth Gravitational Models (OSU981A, OSU86F).

A Comparison of Correction Models for the Prediction of Tropospheric Propagation Delay of GPS Signals (GPS 신호의 대류층 지연 예측을 위한 보정모델의 비교)

  • Since GPS's SA cancellation, the interest is converged in correction of errors such as atmospheric delay and multipath that weight had been small relatively, which can improve the accuracy of positioning through modelling research. The aim of this study have an extensive comparison of the various tropospheric delay models (Goad&Goodman, A&K, Hopfield and Sasstamoinen) and mapping functions(Niell, Chao, and Marini). Expecially, the tropospheric delay amounts by change of the GPS satellite elevations, and the delay by various combination between zenith delay models and mapping functions, compared and examined. For this, programmed the total delay models and the combined models which can be described as a product of the delay at the zenith and a mapping function. The result of study, especially, as the minimum elevation of included data is reduced under $10^{\circ}$, it was considered to be reasonable that the prediction of tropospheric delay considering combination and mapping character of functions about the transition of the zenith delay to a delay with arbitrary zenith angle.

  • Korea has established an advanced infrastructure for real-time precise positioning such as CORS, virtual reference station service and perform continuous upgrading. However, in order to utilize the national infrastructure, it is necessary to process the acquired spatial information and take many steps to derive the final product. In addition, this process is highly dependent on foreign software. In this study, GNSS field survey system was developed and evaluation of its usability was performed. Real-time GNSS field survey system was developed and the system improves user̓s convenience and usability. The system was able to conduct survey effectively and produce the results. In addition, we compare the existing software with the survey performance to show the availability of the real-time GNSS surveying system. The system developed through the research can perform all the functions from real-time survey to the production of the outputs. It can create economical added value of the foreign software as a whole and simplify the work required for post-survey performance.

  • The technology used to recognize the location and surroundings of autonomous vehicles is called SLAM. SLAM standsfor Simultaneously Localization and Mapping and hasrecently been actively utilized in research on autonomous vehicles,starting with robotic research. Expensive GPS, INS, LiDAR, RADAR, and Wheel Odometry allow precise magnetic positioning and mapping in centimeters. However, if it can secure similar accuracy as using cheaper Cameras and GPS data, it will contribute to advancing the era of autonomous driving. In this paper, we present a method for converging monocular camera with RTK-enabled GPS data to perform RMSE 33.7 cm localization and mapping on the urban road.

  • Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers are intrinsically vulnerable to radio frequency jamming signals due to the fundamental property of radio navigation systems. A GNSS jamming monitoring system that is capable of jamming detection, classification and localization is essential for infrastructure for autonomous driving systems. For these 3 functionalities, a GNSS jamming monitoring network consisting of a multiple of low-cost GNSS receivers distributed in a certain area is needed, and the precise time synchronizaion between multiple independent GNSS receivers in the network is an essential element. This paper presents a precise time synchronization method based on the direct use of Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) technique in signal domain. A block interpolation method is additionally incorporated into the method in order to maintain the precision of time synchronization even with the relatively low sampling rate of the received signals for computational efficiency. The feasibility of the proposed approach is verified in the numerical simualtions.
