Face identification with frequency domain matched filtering in mobile environments (모바일 환경에서 정합 필터를 이용한 얼굴 식별)

  • 원거리에서의 얼굴 식별은 낮은 영상 해상도를 비롯하여 블러와 잡음으로 인한 어려움이 크다. 더욱이 모바일 장치에서 실시간 처리를 하기 위하여 느린 수행속도와 제한된 메모리 등 모바일 계산환경을 필히 고려하여야 한다. 본 논문은 모바일 환경에서 주파수 영역의 정합 필터를 이용한 얼굴 식별 방법을 제안한다. 얼굴 식별은 선형(linear) 및 위상(phase-only) 필터, 순차적인 검증 단계를 이용하여 수행된다. 얼굴 후보 윈도우 영역은 선형 필터와 위상 필터를 수행하여 검출하고 순차적인 검증 단계는 피부색 테스트와 경계 마스크 필터링 테스트로 구성한다. 제안된 방법은 Android 플랫폼에서 Java을 이용하여 모바일 폰에서 개발하였다. 예비실험 결과는 모바일 환경에서 얼굴 식별이 실시간으로 성공적으로 수행될 수 있음을 보인다.

  • 본 논문에서는 제약되지 않은 카메라에서 얻어진 회전과 크기 변화를 가진 영상들을 특징 기반의 보로노이 거리 매칭 방법을 이용하여 고속으로 합성 하는 기법에 관해 기술한다. 기존의 특징점 기반 매칭 기법들이 사람의 개입에 의해 영상을 정합하거나, 크기나 회전 변화를 고려하지 않은 형태의 영상들을 처리하는 것과 달리 회전이나 크기변화요소가 포함된 입력영상들을 사람의 개입이 없이 자동으로 정확한 중첩영역을 빠르게 검색하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 우선 영상내의 특징 점들의 위상 정보와 특징 점들 사이의 거리 정보를 가지는 보로노이 거리 정합법을 통해 대응점을 구하고, 찾아진 대응 쌍들을 이용하여 2차원 투영의 초기 변환행렬을 구한다. 다음으로 비선형 이승오차 최적화 알고리즘을 이용하여 최적의 변환 행렬을 구한 후, 마지막으로 구해진 변환 행렬을 이용하여 영상을 합성한다. 실험결과를 통해 본 논문에서 제안한 방법의 효율성을 보인다.

  • Face recognition is very challenging because of the unexpected changes of pose, expression, and illumination. Facial detection in the mobile environments has additional difficulty since the computational resources are very limited. This paper discusses face detection based on frequency domain matched filtering in the mobile environments. Face detection is performed by a linear or phase-only matched filter and sequential verification stages. The candidate window regions are selected by a number of peaks of the matched filtering outputs. The sequential stages comprise a skin-color test and an edge mask filtering tests, which aim to remove false alarms among selected candidate windows. The algorithms are built with JAVA language on the mobile device operated by the Android platform. The simulation and experimental results show that real-time face detection can be performed successfully in the mobile environments.

  • In this paper, a VHF band multi channel phase discriminator for direction finding equipment using tripple baseline interferometer technique is proposed. In order to measure simultaneously phase difference between IF(Intermediate Frequency) signals of the direction finding equipment, phase discriminator was designed to have parallel structure with multi channel, the phase correlator of phase discriminator was designed with I, Q mixer for reducing number of components. And digital LUT(Look Up Table) was applied for compensating error of phase discriminator due to phase unbalance of RF components. The measured phase accuracy of fabricated phase discriminator was 2 degree RMS(Root Mean Square) at 30 dB SNR condition, which is superior to the phase accuracy of conventional product.

  • Techniques for tracking the same region of physical space with the temporal sequences of images by matching the contours of constant phase show robust and stable performance in relative to the tracking techniques using or assuming the constant intensity. Using this property, we describe an algorithm for obtaining the robust motion parameters caused by the global camera motion. First, we obtain the optical flow based on the phase of spacially filtered sequential images on the region in a direction orthogonal to orientation of each component of gabor filter bank. And then, we apply the least squares method to the optical flow to determine the affine motion parameters. We demonstrate hat proposed method can be applied to the vision based pointing device which estimate its motion using the image including the display device which cause lighting condition varieties and noise.

  • In this paper, we discussed the trapezoidal antenna model in the microstrip structure for UWB communications in the frequency band of $3.1{\times}10.6GHz$. Through the computer simulations for the difference size of trapezoidal monopole microstrip antenna model, the good impedance matching characteristic of return loss less than -10dB(VSWR<2) in all the band of UWB showed. The optimized antenna of this paper also showed the quasi-isotropic radiation characteristics in the horizontal plane and linear phase characteristic of nondispersive property.

A Shape Based Image Retrieval Method using Phase of ART (ART의 위상 정보를 이용한 형태기반 영상 검색 방법)

  • Since shape of an object in an image carries important information in contents based image retrieval (CBIR), many shape description methods have been proposed to retrieve images using shape information. Among the existing shape based image retrieval methods, the method which employs invariant Zernike moment desciptor (IZMD) showed better performance compared to other methods which employ traditional Zernike moments descriptor in CBIR. In this paper, we propose a new image retrieval method which applies invariant angular radial transform descriptor (IARTD) to obtain higher performance than the method which employs IZMD in CBIR. IARTD is a rotationally invariant feature which consists of magnitudes and alligned phases of angular radial transform coefficients. To produce rotationally invariant phase coefficients, a phase correction scheme is performed while extracting the IARTD. The distance between two IARTDs is defined by combining the differences of the magnitudes and the aligned phases. Through the experiment using MPEG-7 shape dataset, the average bull's eye performance (BEP) of the proposed method is 0.5806 while the average BEPs of the exsiting methods which employ IZMD and traditional ART are 0.4234 and 0.3574, respectively.

  • Localization with array sensors has been applied for not only military but also non-military purposes. The identification of submarines and fish finding are those examples. Nowadays the demand for noise identification is increasing to characterize noise sources and improve acoustic performance of underwater acoustic equipment. For that reason KRISO/KORDI recently constructed an anechoic basin which bus reflection only at the free surface. This paper suggests a noise identification methods using MUSIC algorithm in such an acoustic field. For comparison phase delay sum and minimum valiance methods are also described. At first basic principles are described. A several numerical simulations are also performed. The results say that reflection effect many cause a new non-real source although good estimation is obtained under no reflection conditions.

  • This paper investigates the performance analysis of the packet DS/SS receiver with a PJED(phase-jump error detector) using the block signal processing(BSP) methods. The conventional packet DS/SS block receiver has a high probability of mistaking the phase-jump detection, which causes the frequency estimation error. The conventional receiver uses a Matched-Pulse Timing Extractor which has a complicated structure. The proposed packet DS/SS block receiver with the PJED which uses libearity of the phase has little probability of mistaking the phase-jump detection. The proposed Matched Pulse Timing Extractor gas the more simple structure but obtains the same performance on the exact matched-pluse timing as the conventional one does. The simulation results show that the proposed receiver gives about 2dB improvement in the BER compared with the conventional receiver.
