  • 국제 해상무역에 있어서 수출입 화물이 송하주로부터 수하주에게 인도되기까지 아무리 안전한 포장의 화물이라 할지라도 선박에 의한 해상운송 도중에 외부 포장의 파손이나 변질, 손상, 도난 등의 사고가 빌생할 수 있으며 과부족/착오 선적, 하역 중의 화물사고 등의 문제점을 예방/처리를 위해 검수라는 서비스가 이루어진다. 검수업무는 전문 검수사에 의하여 화물의 상태확인 등을 검수용지에 수기로 기록하게 되어있다. 인력에 의한 이러한 수작업은 문서의 집계, 처리, 분석 등에 오류와 비효율을 발생시키고 인건비 상승에 따른 물류비용 절감에 어려움을 주고 있다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 CCTV 검수 시스템을 이용하면 이러한 문제점들을 극복할 수 있을 것이다.

  • This research attempts to explore the competitive advantage of the Busan New Port based on the comparative analysis against the major ports. The competitive environment of the global shipping business poses a variety of challenges for the port authorities. Pursuing the hub position in the Northeast Asia, Busan new port needs an in-depth competitive analysis against the major ports in Singapore and China. This research proposes the strategies to exploit the locational advantage of the port while upgrading the operational efficiency. The recent development of the information technology suggests a viable solution for the Busan port.

A Study on Economic Assessment of Image Processing Technologies for Meteorological Satellites (기상위성 영상처리 기술의 경제성 분석에 관한 연구)

  • Despite of growing concern for developing meteorological satellites, poor investment has been realized to acquire effective and efficient satellite image processing technologies. In this study, not only qualitative exploration on mapping each elementary technology into related industries but quantitative inter-industry analysis induced from Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of the Korean satellite image processing system were performed. Furthermore, economic assessment has been made by estimating internal rate of return(IRR) for the benefits returned versus TCO of the system. The results showed that agriculture and fisheries industry, tourist and leisure industry, and transportation industry were highly related with the acquisition of the system, and that 9.1 billion won of production-induced effects, 3.3 billion won of value-added-induced effects, and 54 individuals of employment-induced effects were anticipated except for those of directly relevant industries. Even in the pessimistic scenario, 7% of IRR exceeding 5.5% assumed as current public rate was postulated, consequently, the investment was fairly justified.

  • Efficient operation of ships can transport cargo to ports safer and faster, and reduce fuel costs. Therefore, in this study, the pattern was analyzed using AIS data of ships passing near Busan Port, a representative port in Korea. The analysis of vessel traffic patterns was approached with a grid-based node generation method, which can be used for research such as optimal route and route prediction.

A Study on the Evaluation of Coastal Shipping's Centrality Using a Social Network Analysis (SNA를 활용한 연안해운 중심성 평가에 관한 연구)

  • Coastal shipping performs a pivotal role as a national transportation network and is highly valuable in terms of enabling more economical transportation at affordable prices than road transportation. In this regard, this study aimed to examine changes in the characteristics and centrality of South Korea's costal shipping sea-route networks by analyzing the centrality of domestic coastal shipping. To this end, social network analysis was used as an analysis technique that enables an analysis on the characteristics of coastal shipping networks. As a result, Jeollanam-do showed the highest degree centrality, ranking first in both the in-degree and the out-degree. Jeollanam-do also exhibited the highest betweenness centrality, and Gangwon-do registered the highest closeness centrality. In terms of hub and authority centrality, Jeollanam-do topped the list, followed by Gyeongsangnam-do and Gangwon-do in order. Lastly, Jeollanam-do ranked highest in the hub index, followed by Incheon, other regions, and Gangwon-do in order. This study is significant for suggesting the cities and provinces that play a key role in coastal shipping each year and their corresponding items. Future studies are recommended to identify the trend of coastal shipping through more detailed research on each port by city and province.

Comparison of Efficiency for Wood Fuels (Chips and Pellets) by Life Cycle Assessment (LCA 접근방법에 의한 목질연료(칩, 펠릿)의 효율성 비교)

  • This study was carried out to derive the most optimal production process for the wood fuels(chip and pellet), by collecting cost data on each procedure through the life cycle assessment approach, and to compare between the profitability and efficiency, from the view points of producers and consumers, irrespectively. The costs accounted in this analysis were based on the opportunity cost. The results show that wood chips are cheaper than wood pellets in production costs. In respect to the process with the lowest production cost, while wood chips should be to crush collected residues into pieces on the spot for merchandizing, wood pellets need to be transported to manufactory for pelletizing. The study findings also include that the profits, which is estimated by subtracting expenses from gained sale revenue, were a bit higher for wood chips than wood pellets. Additionally, the price ratio of wood pellets to wood chips for getting the same caloric value appears to be 1.27. Despite of economic benefits of processing wood chips, there are several problems in practice. For producers, there is a possible increase in not only transportation cost for conveying crushers to the dispersed places, but storage cost due to the lack of the marketplaces in the immediate surroundings. For consumers, on the other hand, there are some challenging issues, such as bulky storage facility requirement, additional labor for fuel supplement, frequent ashes disposal, and decomposition in summer and freezing in winter caused by wood chips' own moisture.

Total Cost Analysis by Calling Port Reduction of Mega Containership - The Case of Domestic Shipping Company - (초대형 컨테이너선의 기항지 축소에 따른 총 비용 분석 - 국내 선사 사례를 중심으로 -)

  • Recently, 8,000TEU class containerships has started operating the shipping service and the mega-containership of over 10,000TEU is on planning. A unit cost in relation to shipping service is decreased by the bigger ship based on the economy of scale. Most of the previous studies have been performed and focused on the total operation cost from mega port to mega port. However, the purpose of this paper is to estimate economic efficiency of selected hub ports from point of view of total cost such as service cost(or operation cost), port charge and feeder cost, etc. First, the service-network of mega containerships is based on data of a domestic shipping company operated main line and economic analysis of individual scenarios on the cost and traffic when 10,000TEU mega containerships offer the services. The three scenarios presented in this paper set up the hub ports which are the port of Busan, Shanghai and Yokohama The results show that port of Busan is economically the most efficient one among others.

The Relationship between Foreign Exchange Exposure and Characteristic Variables of the Korean Firms and Industries (우리나라 기업 및 산업의 환노출과 특성변수와의 관계분석)

  • 본 연구는 우레나라 기업 및 산업의 환노출을 측정하고 이를 기업의 특성변수로 설명하려는 것이다. 기존 연구가 주별 및 월별 자료를 사용해서 특정 산업에 국한했던 것과는 달리 금융업을 포함한 전 산업을 대상으로 하였으며, 일별 자료를 사용해 이를 분석하였다. 환노출 추정을 위해, 1987년 1월부터 1997년 6월까지 상장된 우리나라 기업 및 산업의 일별 수익률을 종속변수로 하고 대미달러의 원화 환율 및 대엔화의 원화 환율, 달러대 엔화 환율 등의 변화율을 독립변수로 하는 모형을 설정하였으며, 이를 기존에 논의된 여러 모형을 통해 측정하였다. 측정결과 이자율을 차감하고 종속변수의 1차자기상관을 고려한 GARCH(1,1)모형의 설명력이 높았다. 우리나라 산업중에서는 섬유제품, 펄프 종이, 자동차판매 및 도매, 숙박 운송 등에서 유의한 환노출을 보였으며, 개별기업의 경우에는 1987년 1월부터 1990년 7월까지 대미달러 환율에 많이 노출되었으나, 1990년 8월부터 1994년 7월까지는 상대적으로 노출된 기업의 수가 적었다. 따라서 우리나라 산업 및 기업은 환노출에 있어서 산업효과와 기간효과를 갖고 있음을 알 수 있다. 기업특성변수와 환노출과의 관계를 분석한 결과는 일관되게 유의한 변수는 발견되지 못하였으며, 다만 특정 기간별 그리고 대미달러환율에 대해 기업규모와 금융비용부담률 등의 변수들이 유의하게 반응하고 있는 것으로 나타났다.

Installation Scheduling for the Development of Southwest Coast 2.5GW Offshore Wind Farm (서남해안 2.5GW 해상풍력단지 조성을 위한 설치 일정계획)

  • As a way to address global warming, among the renewable energy sources, there have been heavy investments worldwide for the development of offshore wind farms. However, such development has a drawback: investment costs are higher than those for onshore wind farms due to required operations such as offshore transportation and installation. In particular, delays in installation due to adverse maritime weather conditions are factors that affect the economics of offshore wind farms' operation. Therefore, in this study, we analyze the optimal schedule of the construction of an offshore wind farm from a macro perspective by considering the weather conditions in Korea. For this purpose, we develop a mathematical model and apply it to a 2.5 GW offshore wind farm project on the southwestern coast of the country. We use data from the Korea Meteorological Agency for maritime weather conditions and attempt to reflect the actual input data based on precedent cases overseas. The results show that it takes 6 months to install 35 offshore wind turbines. More specifically, it is pointed out that it is possible to minimize costs by not working in winter.

The Effect of Logistics Company Strategies and Logistics Cooperation on Business Performance (물류기업의 전략과 물류공동화가 경영성과에 미치는 영향)

  • Companies must strengthen core competencies by concentrating resources to secure a competitive edge and operate efficient processes from a company-wide perspective. To this end, it is seeking to concentrate its capabilities and reduce costs by pooling non-essential tasks or facilities that require a lot of time and capital at a strategic level. Therefore, logistics companies should actively utilize logistics coorperate system in order to maximize the use of logistics resources according to the limitations of human resources, physical resources, and time. This study is an empirical analysis of the strategy of logistics companies and the impact of logistics coorperate on corporate performance, and a survey and analysis was conducted on domestic logistics companies. The results of the empirical analysis showed that the cost·relationship·information-oriented strategy of logistics has a positive(+) effect on the financial·operation·strategic performance indicators of companies through logistics coorperate. The results derived from this paper will be used as an important determining factor in establishing a logistics strategy and logistics coorperate to improve the performance of logistics companies and logistics service companies.
