Development of u-Health standard terminology and guidelines for terminology standardization (유헬스 표준용어 및 용어 표준화 가이드라인 개발)

  • For understanding of terminology related to u-Health and activating u-Health industry, it is required to develop u-Health standard terminology for communication. The purpose of this study is to develop u-Health standard terminology and provides guidelines for terminology standardization in order to develop the u-Health standard terminology. We finally developed the 187 u-Health standard terminology through the process of data acquisition, term extraction, term refinement, term selection and term management based on reports, glossary and Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) standards about u-Health. As a result, the standard terminology and guidelines of u-Health optimized to the domestic environment were suggested. They included details of definition, classification, components, the methods and principles of the process for u-Health standard terminology. Presented in this study, u-Health standard terminology and guidelines for terminology standardization would assist the cost-reducing of employing terminology and management of it, while making information transfer easy. This would make possible promoting efficient development of u-Health industry in general.

A Study on the Use of Multicultural Terminology: Focusing on the Status of News Articles and Interviews with Field Experts (다문화 용어 사용 문제에 대한 연구: 뉴스기사 사용실태 파악과 현장 전문가의 인터뷰를 중심으로)

  • This study was an exploratory study to identify the discomfort of using multicultural terms. The contents of the study included exploration of prior research, analysis of news articles, and in-depth interview with field experts. The results of the study are summarized as follows. First, five multicultural terms such as 'multiculturalism', 'multicultural society', 'multicultural education', '다문화가족' and '다문화가정' were extracted from exploration of prior research. Second, as a result of news analysis, 'multiculturalism' mainly appeared in the early 2000s and has been rapidly decreasing since 2006, and 'multicultural society' and 'multicultural education' have been steadily written. In contrast, '다문화가족' and '다문화가정', which first appeared in 2003 and 2004, have exceeded 80% of multicultural news articles since 2009. Third, regarding multicultural terms, the study participants were well aware of '다문화가족' and '다문화가정', and little knew of 'multiculturalism'. In an interview conducted before learning multicultural terms, '다문화가족' and '다문화가정' were recognized as familiar but uncomfortable and distinguishing terms. And 'multiculturalism', 'multicultural society', and 'multicultural education' were recognized as abstract and unfamiliar terms. In an interview conducted after learning about multicultural terms, the study participants expressed confusion about the mixed use of multicultural terms with different meanings and recognized the need for clarification.

  • 이 논문에서는 전자 사전의 뜻 풀이말을 이용하여 용어를 자동 분류하는 용어 클러스터링 시스템을 설계하였다. 클러스터링 성능에 영향을 미치는 요소로 자질 선택 자질 표현 그리고 유사도 측정 등이 있다. 이 논문에서는 이러한 요소들이 용어 클러스터링에 미치는 영향을 평가해보았다. 클러스터링 결과를 객관적으로 비교하기 위해서 용어 클러스터링 결과와 한국어 의미 계층망에서 추출한 정답 클러스터를 비교하였다 실험 결과, 용어의 뜻 풀이말만 자질로 사용한 방법보다는 뜻 풀이말 자질을 확장하는 방법이 훨씬 더 좋은 결과를 보였다.

  • 정보검색 분야에서 시소러스 용어와 용어 사이의 관계를 나타내어, 질의어와 검색될 정보 사이에 존재하는 용어적 차이를 줄이는데 사용될 수 있다. 시소러스를 사용하는 방법 중 진보된 것은 용어 사이의 관계에 가중치를 주어, 소위 스프레딩 엑티베이션 방법을 이용하여 주어진 용어에서 다른 용어들 사이의 유사성을 측정하여 이를 검색에 이용한다. 그러나, 이러한 방법은 가중치를 어떻게 할당하느냐에 따라 그 결과가 달라지는 문제점이 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 시소러스의 가중치를 사용자의 검색된 정보에 대한 적합성 반응에 근거하여 조절할 수 있는 신경망 기반 시소러스를 제안한다. 제안된 시소러스의 타당성을 위하여 프로토타입의 시소러스를 WordNet으로부터 추출하여 실험하였으며, 그 결과로 recall-precision 값이 향상됨을 보였다.

  • 최근 방대해진 의료 정보 관리와 통합을 위해 다양한 전자기록 시스템이 개발되어왔다. 이 중에 EMR(Electronic Medical Record)은 병원 내의 의료 정보를 전산으로 처리하는 것이다. 이때 많은 의학 용어가 사용되는데 이것을 체계적으로 지원하기 위해 SNOMED(Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine)와 같은 용어 체계가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 용어 체계를 위해 의학 용어를 자동으로 구축하는 시스템을 제안하고자 한다. 제안한 시스템은 웹 마이닝을 통해 자동으로 웹에서 데이터를 수집하고 분류해서 의학 용어 데이터를 구축하게 된다.

  • Large-scaled information extraction plays an important role in advanced information retrieval as well as question answering and summarization. Information extraction can be defined as a process of converting unstructured documents into formalized, tabular information, which consists of named-entity recognition, terminology extraction, coreference resolution and relation extraction. Since all the elementary technologies have been studied independently so far, it is not trivial to integrate all the necessary processes of information extraction due to the diversity of their input/output formation approaches and operating environments. As a result, it is difficult to handle scientific documents to extract both named-entities and technical terms at once. In this study, we define scientific as a set of 10 types of named entities and technical terminologies in a biomedical domain. in order to automatically extract these entities from scientific documents at once, we develop a framework for scientific core entity extraction which embraces all the pivotal language processors, named-entity recognizer, co-reference resolver and terminology extractor. Each module of the integrated system has been evaluated with various corpus as well as KEEC 2009. The system will be utilized for various information service areas such as information retrieval, question-answering(Q&A), document indexing, dictionary construction, and so on.

A Critical Examination of Undefined Mathematical Terms Used in Elementary School Mathematics Textbooks of Korea (초등학교 수학 교과서에서 사용되는 무정의 용어 연구)

  • There are not a few mathematical terms used as the undefined terms in school mathematics. The purpose of this study is to investigate critically the undefined mathematical terms in elementary school mathematics textbooks of Korea. As the result, the following suggestions are proposed. Firstly, It is not proper to use the terms which mathematics curriculum does not allow to use in elementary school math as the undefined terms in elementary school mathematics textbooks. Secondly, everyday-based undefined terms must be defined in elementary school mathematics textbook if their mathematical meanings are different from their everyday-based meanings. Thirdly, we need to consider the consistency when we use the undefined terms in elementary school mathematics. Fourthly, undefined terms should be define newly when the contexts in which they are used are changed or expanded. Finally, in elementary school mathematics textbooks, it is needed to define some purely mathematical undefined terms that there is no evidence which shows students grasp well their meaning.

Enhancing Document Clustering Using Term Re-weighting Based on Semantic Features (의미특징 기반의 용어 가중치 재산정을 이용한 문서군집의 성능 향상)

  • In this paper, we propose a enhancing document clustering method using term re-weighting by the expanded term. The proposed method extracts the important terms of documents in cluster using semantic features, which it can well represent the topics of document to expand term using WordNet. Besides, the method can improve the performance of document clustering using re-weighting terms based on the expanded terms. The experimental results demonstrate appling the proposed method to document clustering methods achieves better performance than the normal document clustering methods.

Automated Approaches for Extracting Specialized Terminology in Building Semantic Networks for Classical Languages (고전언어에서의 어휘 의미망 구축을 위한 전문용어 추출 자동화 방안)

  • The trend of seeking knowledge or information has been increasingly shifting towards the digital implementation on the web rather than relying on analog printed media such as books or publications. This shift is driven by the perception that using digital resources, particularly digital dictionaries, is more effective and time-saving compared to traditional paper dictionaries. Consequently, the construction of a semantic network for vocabulary has emerged as a significant issue for linguists, computational linguists, and natural language processing specialists. To address this, linguists have conducted numerous studies to find methods for structuring and classifying the meanings and concepts of vocabulary. In these studies, specialized terminology for constructing vocabulary semantic networks is as crucial as common language. However, in the process of finding and accumulating specialized terminology, there is still a manual step where individuals directly verify and extract specialized terms from paper documents or vast digital datasets. In this paper, we propose an automated program to extract the specialized terms that users desire from digital materials, aiming to compensate for errors in human-operated tasks and streamline the process.

A Didactical Analysis of Korean Mathematical Terms Bi-yul and Bi-ui-gap (비의 값과 비율 용어에 대한 교수학적 분석)

  • There has been little consensus on how to define and use the Korean mathematical terms, bi-ui-gap and bi-yul. This study compares four perspectives of bi-ui-gap and bi-yul proposed and discussed in Korean mathematics education community and examines the ways of using the terms adopted since the 6th national curriculum. Based on the analysis that previously proposed perspectives conflict each other, this study proposes as a way to synthesize different perspectives of bi-ui-gap and bi-yul by analyzing the terms in the internal and external ratio contexts. This study proposes that bi-ui-gap be used to represent 'a value of $A{\div}B$' rather than 'a value originated from a ratio A:B' or 'a fraction form ${\frac{B}{A}}$.' This study also proposes that bi-yul or bae-yul be used in the internal ratio context and a new term, such as dan-wi-yul, be created for the external ratio context.
