  • This study developed a scale to measure college students' perceived stress levels for adverse life events that may occur in their daily lives and confirmed its validity and reliability. The scale was developed in accordance with DeVellis' scale development guidelines. Data were collected from 1,242 students of a local university in 2020. The collected samples were randomly separated into two groups (A, B). Group A (N=620) was tested for an initial examination of the performance, exploratory factor analysis, multitrait-multimethod matrix, criterion-related validity, and reliability of each item; and verified with group B (N=622) for confirmatory factor analysis and reliability re-test. As a result, the final scale of 33 items and eight factors were developed. The KMO values were 0.92, and Bartlett's spherical test was significant (χ2=12532.42, p<.001); the number of factors with initial eigenvalues of 1.0 or higher was eight; the cumulative factor loadings of 71.5% and the commonality of each item was 0.56 or higher. The reliability of the scale was Cronbach's alpha 0.94; sub-factors' Cronbach's alpha was 0.78 to 0.90. Therefore, these findings suggest that the scale developed in this study would be useful for measuring the stress levels of daily life for college students.

  • In most of mobility enhancing plans for the transportation disabled, decisions for the investment priorities are firstly made by the facilities that have lower installation rate or lower satisfaction rate; the decisions are made without analyzing the importance factor (path loading factor) between the facility installation rate and the satisfaction rate together. In this study, a novel method of finding causality between the exogenous latent variables and the endogenous latent variables is provided by using the Structural Equation Model (SEM). The results show that the most influential facilities for the transportation disabled are bus stops, crosswalks and sidewalks in order. Also, a curb height around bus stops, a smoothness of sidewalks and installation of crosswalks traffic light are identified as an important facilities for the Transportation disabled.

  • Intelligent maritime traffic information services provide services for maritime traffic safety, but due to the difference in ship specifications and loading condition, the method of determining abnormalities in ship stability has not been generalized. In this study, we established a method for collecting and preprocessing Accelerometer and GPS data for calculating ship stability. In addition, we have researched a model that can determine the real-time ship stability through data science algorithms that can reflect each vessel specifications and external forces, breaking away from approximate calculations that cannot reflect weather factors in the real ocean.

  • The aim of this study is to analyze the container terminal operation by considering the key factors that fluctuates the container traffic volume using the System Dynamics (SD) method. The target area of this study is the 'A' container terminal which is located in the Port of Incheon and the simulation period is from 2004 to 2020. As evaluation indexes for container terminal operation, three factors such as 'total sales', 'operating ratio of C/Y' and 'operating ratio of G/C' are selected, and as for the key factors of fluctuating container traffic volume, 'variation ratio of world trade', 'variation ratio of trade among three countries in North-East Asia' and 'variation ratio of won-dollar rate are used. As of 2020, the result of this study is that import-export container traffic volume increases almost 880,000TEU and total sales and operating ratio of G/C each reach 7.1 bilion won and 65 percent. No changes however in loadage and operating ratio of C/Y in 'A' container terminal are indicated. The reason is that capability of C/Y is exceeded. Therefore this study suggest that decision-makers of 'A' container terminal realize the importance of additional space of C/Y.

  • This study was undertaken to validate and assess the reliability of the Korean version of professional quality of life scale (K-ProQOL) that measures the compassion satisfaction, compassion fatigue and burnout among clinical nurses in Korea. We conducted an internal consistency reliability and construct validity by applying confirmatory factor analysis using SPSS WIN (24.0) and AMOS (18.0). Survey data were collected from 210 nurses working at three tertiary hospitals located in Seoul. Reliable internal consistency was achieved for the K-ProQOL, with a Cronbach's alpha for the total scale and three sub scale values of 0.72-0.90. Factor loadings on three subscales of the 30 items considered ranged from 0.25 to 0.82. The model was validated by confirmatory factor analysis (RMSEA 0.05-0.1, GFI >0.7, CFI >0.7). The findings of this study demonstrate that the K-ProQOL has satisfactory construct validity and reliability to measure compassion satisfaction, compassion fatigue and burnout among clinical nurses in Korea. This is the first study assessing the validity and reliability of the Korean version of professional quality of life scale for clinical nurses in Korea.

  • Virtual worlds have pursued reality as if they actually exist. In order to evaluate the sense of reality in the computer-simulated worlds, several subjective questionnaires, which include specific independent variables, have been proposed in the literature. However, the questionnaires lack reliability and validity necessary for defining and measuring the virtual realization. Few studies have been conducted to investigate the effect of visual factors on the sense of reality experienced by exposing to a virtual environment. Therefore, this study was aimed at reinvestigating the variables and proposing a more reliable and advisable questionnaire for evaluating the virtual realization, focusing on visual factors. Twenty-one questions were gleaned from the literature and subjective interviews with focused groups. Exploratory factor analysis with oblique rotation was performed on the data obtained from 200 participants(females: 100) after exposing to a virtual character image described in an extreme way. After removing poorly loading items, remained subsets were subjected to confirmatory factor analysis on the data obtained from the same participants. As a result, 3 significant factors were determined to efficiently measure the virtual realization. The determined factors included visual presence(3 subset items), visual immersion(7 subset items), and visual interactivity(4 subset items). The proposed factors were verified by conducting a subjective evaluation in which participants were asked to evaluate a 3D virtual eyeball model based on the visual presence. The results implicated that the measurement method was suitable for evaluating the degree of the virtual realization. The proposed method is expected to reasonably measure the degree of the virtual realization.
