공공정보시스템에서 외래어 표기법에 어긋나는 귀화자 성명이나 브랜드명(법인명)을 사용할 경우에, 비표준 확장한글을 인식하지 못하여 성명이나 주소를 포함하는 글자가 "?"로 표시되는 깨짐현상이 발생하여 공공서비스 이용에 많은 불편함을 초래하고 있다. 그 원인으로는 첫째로, 외래어 표기법을 준수하지 않았다는 것, 두 번째로는 기존에 구축된 공공정보시스템 대부분이 'EUC-KR' 인코딩 방식을 사용하고 있으므로 비표준 확장한글을 표현하지 못하고 있기 때문이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 기존의 운영환경을 그대로 유지하면서, 비표준 확장한글을 지원할 수 있는 시스템 운영방안을 제안하였다. 연구결과는 실제 공공정보시스템 운영시에 적용할 수 있으며, 사용자에게 보다 나은 서비스를 제공할 수 있다.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate how to decide pronunciation of loanwords in Korean language. There has not been a regulation for pronunciation of loanwords in Korean language. Even the dictionary published by the government does not provide any information about the pronunciation of loanwords. In this paper, some actual solutions are suggested for the pronunciation of loanwords. Korean language has Regulations of Standard Korean, Korean Orthography, Regulations on Hangeul Transcriptions on Loanwords and Pronunciation Methods of Standard Korean. These language standards could help to decide pronunciation of loanwords. Some pronunciations which could not be regulated by them must be presented in the standard pronunciation dictionary. For example, glottalization rule of 's' in many loanwords could be presented in the description of each loanword in the dictionary. However the pronunciation of loanwords must be similar to the spelling. If various pronunciations are allowed to one spelling, then people will be so confused by the discrepancy between pronunciation and spelling of loanwords.

국어 어문 규정 검색 프로그램은 21세기 세종계획 프로젝트의 한민족 언어 정보화 분과에서 개발한 것으로, 한글 맞춤법, 표준어 규정, 외래어 표기법, 국어의 로마자 표기법 등의 어문 규정과 검색어에 대한 어문 규정 설명을 HTML 문서로 보여준다. 본 논문에서는 국어 어문 규정을 검색하기 위한 데이터베이스의 구조와 국민 어문 규정 검색 프로그램의 검색 방법에 대해서 논한다.

우리나라 과학출판은 최근 출판사의 적극적인 의욕에도 불구하고 분명한 성과는 나타나지 않고 있다. 이에는 우선 전문적인 편집인들이 상당히 부족하고, 과학용어가 통일되지 않거나 고유명사에 대한 외래어 표기법이 혼란스러운 점 등 출판외적인 것 외에도 기획물이 지나치게 사회분위기에 휩쓸린다거나 번역서 일색인 점 등의 문제가 산재해 있다.

From the lack of common rule for the description of the characters and terms in bibliographic databases, it was hard to share information with other organizations and to obtain relevant bits of information through online retrieval. In this paper, the authors suggest a rule for the transcription of symbols and letters, that are found in articles. but impossible to input through CRT terminals, into the symbols and letters which is capable of input and retrieval. And, in the 'Hangul orthography' and 'Description rule of the borrowed words' which are officially announced by the Ministry of Education, more than two ways are permited for the expression of terms. In that case, to improve retrieval efficiency and to prevent 'confusion in description, they are regulated.

조선해양 관련 산업에서는 아직 일본식 및 한자식 조선용어, 외래어가 자리 잡아 일상적으로 사용되고 있다. 대표적인 예로 고박(固縛, こばく), 취부(取付, とりつ), 반생(番線, ばんせん) 등이다. 용어의 정의는 국가 표준 및 관련 법령의 기본이며, 특히 국내 해양레저 관련 산업의 경쟁력 향상을 위하여 필수적이다. 이에 일부 혼용 중인 해양레저장비 관련 선체, 의장품, 범장 등과 관련하여 영문 명칭, 외래어 사용시 표기법, 권장 한국어 등으로 구분하여 표준화 방안을 제시하고자 한다.

최근 다국어 정보검색, 기계번역 등과 관련하여 자동 음차 표기 및 복원에 대한 필요성이 증대되고 있다. 특히 영어와 한국어 같이 그 음운구조의 차이가 큰 언어 쌍인 경우에는 간단한 문제가 아니다. 더구나 외래어를 영어로 복원하는 것은 표기의 경우보다 훨씬 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 결정트리 학습을 통한 한/영 자동 음차 복원 방법을 제안하고 기존의 방법 및 로마자 표기법에 기반한 방법에 비교하여 매우 정확하게 복원이 가능함을 보인다.

Name authority control is important for not only library catalogers but also end users, since it provides uniform access points. The national libraries in Japan and the United States have constructed and controlled authority records for writers from early days, and have provided them on the web sites. The purposes of this study are to extract common fields and differences in Japanese writer's name authority records of the U.S. and Japan, and to propose the ways of desirable description of authority records in Korea. Several suggestions of building authority records in National Library of Korea such as open to the pubic of authority records, provision of various forms of authority files, suggestion of the ways of writing the names of foreign writers, and the links between the authority records and library catalogs for retrieval are proposed.

This study intended on analyzing the error patterns of mathematic problem posing sentences by the 100 elementary pre-teachers and discussing about the solutions. The results showed that the problem posing sentences have five error patterns: phonological error patterns, word error patterns, sentence error patterns, meaning error patterns, and notation error patterns. Divided into fourteen specific error patterns, they are as in the following. 1) Phonological error patterns are consisted of the 'ㄹ' addition error pattern and the abbreviated word error pattern. 2) Words error patterns are divided with the inappropriate usage of word error pattern and the inadequate abbreviation error pattern, which are formulized four subgroups such as the case maker, ending of the word, inappropriate usage of word, and inadequate abbreviation of article or word error pattern in detail. 3) Sentence error patterns are assumed four kinds of forms: the reference, ellipsis of sentence component, word order, and incomplete sentence error pattern. 4) Meaning error patterns are composed the logical contradiction and the ambiguous meaning. 5) Notation error patterns are formed four patterns as the spacing, punctuation, orthography of Hangul, and spelling rules of foreign words in Korean. Furthermore, the solutions for these error patterns were discussed: First, it has to be perceived the differences between spoken and written language. Second, it has to be rejected the spoken expressions in written contexts. Third, it should be focused on the learning of the basic sentence patterns during the class. Forth, it is suggested that the word meaning should have the logical development perception based on what it means. Finally, it is proposed that the system of spelling of Korean has to be learned. In addition to these suggestions, a new understanding is necessary regarding writing education for college students.

Geological terminology used in Korea which has been politically separated for the last 50 years, were compared. For this study, geological terminology used in 'Geology of Korea' published in North Korea (1996), 'Geology of Korea' published in South Korea (1999) and other geological publications were compared. Among the 1272 geological terminology used in North Korea, 49 are for geochronology, 201 for mineralogy, 199 for petrology, 257 for structural geology, 93 for paleontology, and 473 for general geology. Out of these geological terminology, 657 (51.7%) have the same pronunciation and meaning as those used in South Korea 370 (29.1%) are analogous words, and 245 (19.2%)cannot be understood because of differences in the means of expression. Differences in geological terminology used in the two Koreas are thought to be mainly caused by language used only in North Korea, different foreign language interpretation, different initial law application, new connecting word construction, and influence from different cultures.
