Surf Zone Wave Transformations Simulated by a Fully Nonlinear Boussinesq Equation (완전비선형 Boussinesq방정식을 이용한 쇄파대의 파랑변형 모의)

  • A fully nonlinear Boussinesq equation of Wei et al. is finite differenced by Adams predictor-corrector method. A spatially distributed source function and sponge layers are used to reduce the reflected waves in the domain and wale breaking mechanism is included in the equation. The generated waves are found to be good and the corresponding wale heights are very close to the target values. The shoaling of solitary wave and transformation of regular wave over submerged shelf were simulated successfully. The characteristics of breaking mechanism was identified through the numerical experiment and the results of two dimensional wave propagation test over the spherical shoal showed the importance of nonlinear wave model.

Limit Load and Fully Plastic Stress Analysis for Circular Notched Plates and Bars Using Fully Plastic Analysis (완전소성해석을 이용한 원형노치 인장시편의 한계하중 및 완전소성응력장 해석)

  • For the last four decades, tension test of notched bars has been performed to investigate the effect of stress triaxiality on ductile fracture. To quantify the effect of the notch radius on stress triaxiality, the Bridgman equation is typically used. However, recent works based on detailed finite element analysis have shown that the Bridgman equation is not correct, possibly due to his assumption that strain is constant in the necked ligament. Up to present, no systematic work has been performed on fully plastic stress fields for notched bars in tension. This paper presents fully plastic results for tension of notched bars and plates in plane strain, via finite element limit analysis. The notch radius is systematically varied, covering both un-cracked and cracked cases. Comparison of plastic limit loads with existing solutions shows that existing solutions are accurate for notched plates, but not for notched bars. Accordingly new limit load solutions are given for notched bars. Variations of stress triaxiality with the notch radius and depth are also given, which again indicates that the Bridgman solution for notched bars is not correct and inaccuracy depends on the notch radius and depth.

  • Truncus arteriosus with interrupted aortic arch is a very rare congenital cardiac anomaly that has an unfavorable natural course. We report a successful one-stage repair of truncus arteriosus with interrupted aortic arch through median sternotomy in a 25-day-old neonate weighing 3.1 kg. We reconstructed the aortic arch with direct side-to-end anastomosis between ascending and descending aortas. The right ventricular outflow reconstruction was performed with untreated autologous pericardial conduit without valve following Lecompte maneuver. The patient has been grown-up in good condition (25 ∼ 50 percentile of body weight) and shows the right ventricular outflow tract wide 1 year after the operation.

  • 매년 영산강 본류 수질이 악화되고 있는 영산강 유역주변은 최근 전남도청 이전에 따른 남악 신도시개발, J-Project 및 환경 문화 복원사업의 추진, 기업도시개발등과 관련하여 수질관리개선 및 주요환경현안으로 대두되고 있다. 따라서 영산강 하구역 관리방안 중 담수호 수질개선대책의 일환으로 수문개방을 통한 해수 유입에 의한 수질 개선을 효과를 도모하는 방안이 제시되고 있다. 이에 하구호 방조제의 수문 개통 및 완전 개방에 따른 수질개선 문제에 앞서 발생할 수 있는 환경변화 중 영산강 및 연안역 염분의 확산범위를 평가하기 위하여 수치모형 실험이 실시되었다. 담수 유입에 따른 염분 확산 범위 및 해수 유입에 따른 염분의 역상 범위를 평가 하기위해 수치 모델로는 EFDC를 적용하였고, 하천형상과 연안역을 동시에 고려하기 위해 수평좌표계는 직교곡선좌표로 격자 크기는 $120{\sim}1000m$, 연직방향으로 시그마좌표를 사용하였다. 담수 방류 및 염분역상 효과를 알아보기 위해 1997년부터 2005년까지의 하구 수문 방류량 및 하천 유입량으로부터 홍수기와 갈수기를 선택하여 현재 상황 및 수문의 부분 개통 하구둑 완전 개방에 시나리오를 설정하여 실시하였다. 수문의 부분개통과 하구둑 완전 개방에 따른 염분 확산 범위는 영산강 하구둑을 기준으로 홍수기에는 $13{\sim}17km$, 갈수기에는 36km 이상의 상류지역에서 해수와 담수의 분리 기준인 0.3 psu 범위가 계산됨을 알 수 있다.

  • This paper presents an sstimation of ARMA coefficients of noisy ARMA system using generalized total least square (GTLS) method. GTLS problem for ARMA system is defined as minimizing the errors between the noisy output vectors and estimated noisy-free output. The GTLS problem is solved in closed form by eigen-problem and the perturbation analysis of GTLS is presented. Also its recursive solution (recursive GTLS) is proposed using the power method and the covariance formula of the projected output error vector into the input vector space. The simulation results show that GTLS ARMA coefficients estimator is an unbiased estimator and that recursive GTLS achieves fast convergence.

  • In this paper, we consider a characterization of a Guard Sufficiency Set(GSS) in the hierarchy of simple polygons. we propose the diagonals of a arbitrary triangulation of a polygon as a GSS when guards see the diagonals with completely visibility and both sides of the diagonal. we show that this can be a GSS in convex polygons, unimodal polygons, spiral polygons but this can not be a GSS in star-shaped polygons, monotone polygons, completely external visible polygons.

  • This paper is considered with the problem of embedding complete binary trees into 3-dimensional meshes using dimension-ordered routing with primary concern of minimizing link congestion. The authors showed that a complete binary tree with $2^P-1$ nodes can be embedded into a 3-dimensional mesh with optimum size, $2^P$ nodes, if the link congestion is two[14], (More precisely, the link congestion of each dimension is two, two, and one if the dimension-ordered routing is used, and two, one, and one if the dimension-ordered routing is not imposed.) In this paper, we present a scheme to find an embedding of a complete binary tree into a 3-dimensional mesh of size no larger than 1.27 times the optimum with link congestion one while using dimension-ordered routing.

Fully Automatic Liver Segmentation Based on the Morphological Property of a CT Image (CT 영상의 모포러지컬 특성에 기반한 완전 자동 간 분할)

  • The most important work for early detection of liver cancer and decision of its characteristic and location is good segmentation of a liver region from other abdominal organs. This paper proposes a fully automatic liver segmentation algorithm based on the abdominal morphology characteristic as an easy and efficient method. Multi-modal threshold as pre-processing is peformed and a spine is segmented for finding morphological coordinates of an abdomen. Then the liver region is extracted using C-class maximum a posteriori (MAP) decision and morphological filtering. In order to estimate results of the automatic segmented liver region, area error rate (AER) and correlation coefficients of rotational binary region projection matching (RBRPM) are utilized. Experimental results showed automatic liver segmentation obtained by the proposed algorithm provided strong similarity to manual liver segmentation.

Primary Mediastinal Liposarcoma -1 Cases Report- (원발성 종격동 지방육종 -1예 보고-)

  • The primary mediastinal liposarcoma is a very rare tumor. It mainly causes respiratory symptoms, but can be asymptomatic. The most favorable treatment of primary mediastinal liposarcoma is a surgical removal, whether it is complete or not, regardless of the size or histologic type of the tumor. The survival is determined by the histologic type of tumor. A 34-year- ld man was admitted because of asymptomatic mediastinal tumor which was progressively growing over 6 years. The tumor was completely resected and the microscopic findings of the tumor were compatible with well-differentiated liposarcoma. The patient recovered and discharged without complication on the 7th postoperative day.

  • Pulmonary venous stenosis may be congenital or acquired. Regardless of its origin, the prognosis for patients affected with PVS remains poor. There have been many attempts to palliate PVS with little success. This report describes two patients with PVS which became evident after repair of total anomalous pulmonary venous connection. Intravascular stents were successfully implanted, but progressive restenoses in the stents occurred and eventually both of the patients died. The pertinent literature is reviewed.
