  • The purpose of this study is to confirm whether the parenting stress of mothers with preschool children mediated the parent-child interaction and parenting attitude on children's learning readiness. Data was used from the 5th (2012) to 7th (2014) Korean Children's Panel, and a total of 1,480 data sets were used for the analysis. The age of study participants was five years old. The Amos 23.0 program was used as an analytical tool, and the structural equation model analysis was applied to estimate the path coefficient corresponding to the research question. First, it was expected that mothers' parenting stress negatively affected the parent-child interaction, mother's parenting attitude, and children's readiness. Second, it was assumed that parent-child interaction and the mother's warm parenting attitude were positively significant to children's readiness. Third, the relationship between the parenting stress of mothers and children's learning readiness was partially mediated by a positive parenting attitude. The current study supplies valuable data to establish the educational support and efficiency strategy for domestic children. This study is meaningful in that it provides basic data in preparing a plan to more effectively provide educational support for domestic children.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of covid-19 pandemic on mother's child-rearing style and provide information on mother-rearing. The significance of regression coefficients was verified to investigate the factors affecting warm parenting and control parenting, and the effect of separation and individualization on warm parenting (β=-).40, p <.001). Moreover, covid infection has a positive effect on controlled child care (β=.21, p=.002), and separation has a significant effect on controlled child care (β=-26, p<.001). Based on the results of these studies, we can see that the strong belief in mother-rearing and the separation and individualization of healthy children have a great impact on child growth.

  • The purpose of this research is to analyze male oriented military culture and gender discrimination. It examined whether the experience of military service would affect the attitude of Korean college students, gender role identity, and sexism by classifying 317 college students into three groups; males who have completed military service, males who haven't completed military service, and a female group. Research results are as follows: First, in general military experience did not enhance awareness of gender identity nor affect attitudes toward gender discrimination, but significantly enhanced masculinity in some males who completed military service was a major factor in strengthening masculinity and benevolent sexism. Second, males who completed military service and women had a more positive view of the military than males who had yet to serve in the military. Third, regardless of military experience and gender, military experience was perceived to enhance benevolent sexism towards women. Fourth, all three groups showed a strikingly positive correlation in hostile sexism and benevolent sexism. However, they did not show a significant difference in the correlation of groups. Tough these results indicate that deep-rooted gender discrimination in Korean society is enhanced by military experience, it also confirms the significance and impact of the reality of the military ideology.

Method: The sample used in this study included 806 parents of boys and 748 of girls who were first married couples and living together in the 6th wave of the Panel Study on Korean Children(PSKC). Hierarchical regression analyses were used to identify the effect of predictable variances on paternal and maternal parenting. Results: Variables found to have a statistically significant effect on parenting differed in terms of warmth and control parenting. Fathers who engaged in playing with their children were found to have a strong effect on paternal warmth parenting, whereas participation in children's activities has the strongest effect on maternal warmth parenting. Conclusions: This study suggested that there were differences in paternal and maternal warmth and control parenting according to the gender of the child. Further implications were discussed for exploring maternal and paternal parenting of young children.

  • The study explored the association between narcissism and sexual dating violence, and how ambivalent sexism affects the relation. Additionally, this study investigated if there exists gender difference in the relations between factors of narcissism and sexual dating violence, and the mediating effects of ambivalent sexism. Based on 200 participants(100 males and 100 females), the mediation effect of ambivalent sexism on the relation between narcissism and sexual dating violence was examined. For male participants, the mediation effect of hostile sexism on the relation between narcissism and sexual dating violence was significant, whereas for female participants the mediation effect of benevolent sexism on the relation between narcissism and sexual dating violence was significant. Different patterns were evident regarding the associations between factors of narcissism and sexual dating violence. For males, the more with exhibitionism and entitlement, the more with hostile sexism, and the more with sexual dating violence. For females, the more with exhibitionism, entitlement, and self-sufficiency, the more with benevolent sexism, and the more with sexual dating violence. The study revealed that the mediation effect of ambivalent sexism between narcissism and sexual dating violence differed by gender and by factors of narcissism. Finally, preventions measures for sexual dating violence were discussed.
