  • 우리나라에서 옥수수 사일리지는 젖소 사육농가에서 재배하고 있는 사료작물 중 가장 중요하다. 사일리지용 옥수수를 재배하지 않고는 젖소사육이 어렵다고 생각하는 낙농인이 많다. 과거에는 겨울철에만 옥수수 사일리지를 제조하여 급여하였으나, 최근에는 일부의 낙농가들은 연중 사일리지를 급여하는 연중급여체계로 전환하는 농가도 있다. 그런 면에서 옥수수 사일리지는 과거 어느 때보다 그 중요성이 강조된다.(중략)

Effects of Feeding Whole-Crop Barley Silage and Corn Silage on Nutrients Availability, Growth Performance and Blood Parameters in Korean Black Goats (청보리사일리지 및 옥수수사일리지 급여가 육성기 재래 흑염소의 영양소 이용률, 성장 및 혈액성상에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined the effects of feeding whole-crop barley silage (BS), corn silage (CS) and the mixture of BS and CS (CB) on feed consumption, daily gain, nutrients apparent digestibilities and blood parameters in order to investigate the feed evaluation in Korean black goats. BS, CS, and CB were fed to twelve Korean black goats, which were allocated into three groups in metabolic cages according to the latin-square design. As a result, dry and organic matter intakes for goats per day have shown a tendency to decrease in the order of CS, CB and BS, but there were no significant differences. We also found a similar tendency when the intakes of crude protein, crude fat, and non-fiber carbohydrates (NFC) were examined. However, ADF and NDF consumptions showed a decreasing tendency in the order of CB, BS and CS. Dry matter intakes per metabolic body weight showed the decreasing tendency in the order of CS (57.6g), CB (53.8g) and BS (52.7g), however with no statistical differences. Average daily gain of 64.2 g in CB was significantly higher than the other groups (42.0g to 46.0g). Nitrogen intakes and nitrogen retention showed a decreasing tendency in the order of CS, CB and BC. Nevertheless, nitrogen retention in CS group was higher by 30% than that of the BC group with p<0.05. Apparant digestibilities of dry and organic matters were 72.6 and 72.8% for the CS group respectively, which were significantly higher than those of the BS group (67.5 and 69.0%) and the CB group (66.0 and 67.1%). In conclusion, the results of this study demonstrated that the CS group showed more positive feed consumption, digestibility, and nitrogen retention in Korean black goats than those of BS group. The CB group, however, showed similar results to the results of the CS group.

Effects of Corn Silage on Growth Performance, Carcass Characteristics, and Gene Expression of Longissimus dorsi Muscle Biopsy of Hanwoo Steers (옥수수 사일리지가 거세한우의 성장, 도체특성 및 등심 유전자 발현에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate effects of corn silage on final fattening performance, carcass characteristics, and gene expression of Hanwoo Longissimus dorsi muscle biopsy. Twenty one steers with initial body weight of control 291.5±6.5kg, corn silage 291.7.0±17.3kg were used for 18 months of fattening period. Average daily gain of corn silage tended to increase compared to control in early fattening period(p=0.092). Feed conversion ratio of corn silage was higher than control in early fattening(p=0.005). The animals in corn silage increased A grade 23% in meat quantity than the control. Myogenic gene expression on the Longissimus dorsi biopsy were compared between corn silage and control. The level of myosin heavy chain(MHC) I, IIX mRNA were greater than the control in the whole period(p<0.05). The level of Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPAR γ) mRNA was greater than the corn silage(p<0.05). Inconclusion, corn silage will be possible to use as an alternative concentrate feeding system.

Study on Manufacture of Square Baled Corn Silage Using Square Silage Wrapping Compressor (소형 사각 곤포기를 이용한 옥수수 사각 압축곤포 사일리지 조제에 관한 연구)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of harvest stage of corn on the quality of square baled corn silage manufactured with corn grown in paddy land of Department of Animal Resources Development, National Institute of Animal Science, RDA from 2009 to 2010. Corn "Kwangpyungok" was harvested at three different growth stages (milk, yellow ripen and ripen stage) and ensiled at each harvest time. Square baled corn silage was manufactured by use of square silage wrapping compressor. Each treatment was replicated three times. The content of crude protein (CP) of corn in square baled corn silage decreased with delayed maturity, but the content of ADF (acid detergent fiber), NDF (neutral detergent fiber), TDN (total digestible nutrient) and in vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD) were not changed. The content of moisture, pH and the nutritive values at three different harvest stages were not influenced by the method of silage manufacture and inoculant. The content of lactate of square baled corn silage harvested in milk stage of corn was significantly increased, as compared with that of round baled corn silage (P<0.05), but in stage of yellow ripen was significantly decreased (P<0.05). The content of acetate in square baled corn silage significantly decreased with delayed harvest maturity, as compared with that of round baled corn silage (P<0.05). Flieg's score of square baled corn silage harvested in milk stage of corn was slightly higher than that of round baled corn silage, but Flieg's scores in yellow ripen stage and ripen stage were not influenced by the method of silage manufacture. Flieg's score with delayed maturity was not influenced by the method of silage manufacture and inoculant. The manufacture of square baled corn silage was proved to be suitable for the fermentation of corn silage. Therefore, this study suggest that square baled corn silage can be a way of new silage manufacture technique.

  • The present study was conducted to examine the effect of soybean silage as a crude protein supplement for corn silage in the diet of Hanwoo steers. The first experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of replacing corn silage with soybean silage at different levels on rumen fermentation characteristics in vitro. Commercially-purchased corn silage was replaced with 0, 4, 8, or 12% of soybean silage. Half gram of the substrate was added to 50 mL of buffer and rumen fluid from Hanwoo cows, and then incubated at 39℃ for 0, 3, 6, 12, 24, and 48 h. At 24 h, the pH of the control (corn silage only) was lower (p<0.05) than that of soybean-supplemented silages, and the pH numerically increased along with increasing proportions of soybean silage. Other rumen parameters, including gas production, ammonia nitrogen, and total volatile fatty acids, were variable. However, they tended to increase with increasing proportions of soybean silage. In the second experiment, 60 Hanwoo steers were allocated to one of three dietary treatments, namely, CON (concentrate with Italian ryegrass), CS (concentrate with corn silage), CS4% (concentrate with corn silage and 4% of soybean silage). Animals were offered experimental diets for 110 days during the growing period and then finished with typified beef diets that were commercially available to evaluate the effect of soybean silage on animal performance and meat quality. With the soybean silage, the weight gain and feed efficiency of the animal were more significant than those of the other treatments during the growing period (p<0.05). However, the dietary treatments had little effect on meat quality except for meat color. In conclusion, corn silage mixed with soybean silage even at a lower level provided a greater ruminal environment and animal performances, particularly with increased carcass weight and feed efficiency during growing period.

  • 당밀의 첨가가 오적산박 사일리지의 품질 및 한국재래산양에 대한 기호성을 조사하기 위하여 두가지 실험을 수행하였다. 실험 I에서는 오적산박에 당밀을 0, 0.5 및 1.0% 첨가하여 사일리지를 제조하였고, 실험 II에서는 오적산박 사일리지의 기호성을 조사하기 위하여 9두의 우리나라 재래산양을 공시하여 당밀 첨가수준별 및 옥수수 사일리지와의 섭취량을 비교하였다. 실험 I에서는 당밀의 첨가에 의하여 젖산함량이 유의하게 많아지고, pH와 낙산은 낮게 나타났다. 당밀의 첨가로 사일리지액의 유산균배지 배양시험에 있어 총균수는 증가하였고, 곰팡이 균주는 감소하였다. 그리고 당밀의 첨가에 따라 체외 건물 소실율이 증가하였다. 실험 II에서는 당밀의 첨가가 사일리지 건물섭취량에는 유의한 영향을 미치지 못 하였으며, 오적산박 사일리지는 옥수수 사일리지에 비하여 기호성이 좋았다. 결론적으로 오적산박 사일리지에 대한 당밀의 첨가수준은 1% 정도면 품질을 향상시킬 수 있으며, 체외 소화율도 개선할 수 있다고 생각된다.

  • 사일리지용 옥수수 만파재배시 잡초방제를 위해서 알라유제 + 씨마네수화제외 4종의 제초제를 공시하여 6처리 난괴법 3반복으로 시험을 수행한 결과 얻어진 성적을 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 제초제 처리후 옥수수 출현은 처리간 차이 없이 양호하여 공시한 제초제 모두 옥수수에 약해를 미치지 않았다. 2. 제초제 처리별 잡초방제는 기존처리구인 알라유제 + 씨마네수화제 처리구보다는 파라코액제, 글라신액제, 글루포시네이트암모늄액제 및 설포세이트액제를 추가한 처리구에서 방제율 92-94%로 우수하였다.(중략)

Corn "Kwangpyungok" was harvested at three different growth times (milk, yellow ripen and ripen stage) and ensiled at each harvest stages. Crude protein (CP) and TDN (total digestible nutrient) contents of round baled corn silage was decreased and in vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD) was not changed with delayed harvest maturity. However, contents of ADF (acid detergent fiber) and NDF(neutral detergent fiber) decreased with delayed harvest maturity. The pH at three different harvest stages ranged from 3.8 to 4.0. The content of lactic acid increased with delayed harvest maturity, but the content of acetic acid decreased. And then, flieg's score reveals that there is an increase in order, ripen stage > yellow ripen stage > milk stage. Therefore, this study suggest that round baled corn silage manufactured at yellow ripen stage can improve the silage quality.
