A bendable electronic module is developed for a mobile application by using a low-cost roll-to-roll manufacturing process. In the module, a thin silicon chip is embedded in a polymer-based encapsulating adhesive between flexible copper clad polyimide layers. A set of tests are conducted for the purpose of qualification: thermal shock, high temperature storage, and autoclave tests. During the autoclave test, delamination occurs at many places within the module layers. To investigate the failure mechanism, moisture diffusion analysis is conducted for the interior of the module under the autoclave test condition. For the analysis, the hygroscopic characteristics of the encapsulating materials are experimentally determined. Analysis results indicate the moisture saturation process in the interior of the module under the autoclave test condition.

Precast concrete produced in the industry is advantage that easy to manage, and it save construction period in the field. The specimens according to the type of activator for AAS(Alkali-Activated Slag) mortar cured in an autoclave. The specimens of AAS mortar with sodium was shown the high rate of increase of the compressive strength.

A bendable electronic module is developed. In this module, thin silicon electronic chips are embedded in a polymer-based encapsulating adhesive between flexible copper-clad polyimide layers. During the qualification test of a harshly thermal-hygroscopic complex loading condition, delaminations occur inside the module layers. A finite element model is developed for the module. To investigate the effect of hygroscopic stress on delamination, the results of the thermal and thermal-hygroscopic loads are compared. The analysis results reveal that the hygroscopic effect more strongly affects delamination than does the thermal effect. The potential failure mechanisms of the module are investigated based on the stress analysis.

Autoclave process has been remaining as one of the most robust and stable process in fabricating structural composite part of aerospace industry. It has lots of advantages, however exhibits some disadvantages or limitations in capital investment and operation. Recently, there have been various Out-of-Autoclave process being researched and developed to overcome those limitations. In this study, laminate specimens were fabricated using LCM (Liquid Composite Molding) process, regarded as one of potential OoA process. DB (Double bagging), CAPRI (Controlled Atmospheric Pressure Resin Infusion), VAP (Vacuum Assisted Process) and Autoclave process were used for laminate specimens. Void content, Thickness, Tg (Glass Transition Temperature), ILSS (Interlaminar Shear Strength) and Flexural strength properties were evaluated for comparison. It is verified that Autoclave based specimen has uniform thickness distribution, the lowest void content and outstanding mechanical properties. And, CAPRI based specimen exhibits relatively good physical and mechanical properties over DB and VAP based specimen and comparable mechanical properties with autoclave based specimen.
Liquid Composite Molding (LCM), an Out of Autoclave (OoA) composite manufacturing process, has big advantages when making large and complex structures of airplanes. Since the importance of LCM process is increasing, FAA has suggested recommended guidance and criteria for the development of material and process specifications for LCM materials and process. The importance of LCM process is also raised by domestic composite material suppliers and OEM. This study suggested structures of material specifications and process specification of LCM materials. Material qualification method for LCM process and material was also developed in this study.
In the case of a conventional composite patch repair using a heat blanket, the adhesive is pressurized using only a vacuum bag. In this study, however, a pressurization system has been developed to apply additional air pressure on the vacuum bag. In order to verify the performance of the developed system, the composite laminates were repaired with scarf patches and then tested under tensile load to be compared with the strength of the defect-free laminate. Tensile tests were also conducted on specimens with the same configuration but bonded in an autoclave. As a result of the test, the tensile strengths of the specimens repaired using the heat blanket with vacuum only without external pressure, the specimens repaired with additional pressure by the developed system, and the specimens repaired with the same external pressure in an autoclave, showed the strength recovery ratios of 74.9, 81.0, and 78.2%, respectively. The results of the tensile test after moisture saturation and the dried fatigue test also showed that the strength recovery ratios of the specimens repaired under the external pressure of 1 atm using the developed system are slightly higher than that of specimens bonded in autoclave.

This paper explains manufacturing process and experimental studies on a composite carbody of Korean tilting train. The composite carbody with length of 23m was manufactured as a sandwich structure composed of a 40mm-thick aluminium honeycomb core and 5mm-thick woven fabric carbon/epoxy face. In order to evaluate structural behavior and safety of the composite carbody, the static load tests such as vertical load, end compressive load, torsional load and 3-point support load tests have been conducted. These tests were performed under Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) 17105 standard. From the tests, maximum deflection was 12.3mm and equivalent bending stiffness of the carbody was 0.81$\times$10$^{14}$ kgf$\cdot$mm$^{2}$ Maximum stress of the composite body was lower than 12.2$\%$ of strength of the carbon/epoxy. Therefore, the composite body satisfied the Japanese Industrial Standard.

Mechanical characteristics of composite laminates with carbon tissue and glass scrim are evaluated in this paper. Composite laminates in USN125 group are made by inserting carbon tissue and glass scrim between layers. Consequently it was shown that mechanical characteristics of carbon fiber reinforced composite materials were improved by inserting carbon tissue.

The alternative refrigerant R436B is applied, to assess the application feasibility for a commercial cooling water system. The characteristic stability was verified by Sealed glass tube test and Autoclave test. R436B is chemically stable with the compressor material. The Oil miscibility test shows the usual compressor oil mixed well with R436B. Through the life acceleration test, the cooling performance is maintained. Though slight changes in oil and capillary tube diameter were found, they were within the permitted range. R436B should be applied to commercial cooling water systems as a simple replacement for the usual refrigerant.

We measured the thermal conductivity of composite materials manufactured by the autoclave and vacuum bag only processes and predicted the cure behavior of the external and internal of composite parts with a cure kinetics model. The temperature difference between the external and internal depends on the processes because of the change of thermal conductivity. In the autoclave process, the temperature and cure behavior of the internal were similar to those of the external because of the high thermal conductivity. However, the temperature of the internal of the vacuum bag only process was different from that of the external. The difference can influence the part quality and evacuation of air. Compression tests were performed to find the mechanical property using 0° unidirectional specimens. The composite of the vacuum bag only process was found to have a lower compressive strength than that of the autoclave process.
